This short vid stopped me from losing my mind trying to get vocal reverb going - I was only missing two buttons. Longtime keyboard player, but mostly live, and never did much with recording stuff - the manual was pathetic about the internal effects, and after 8 hours of in-depth searching yesterday, I was empty-handed. Today I found your vid, discovered the link to Aux2 I had no clue about - everything else I had figured out - and bam I had reverb, and all the other effects, on my voice - YAHOO! THANK YOU!
Great video…easy and simple. I’m following your videos! Great tutorial…just ordered one! Also sentimental as I go back to the FOSTEX X15! Love it….thanks for sharing. Be safe..Cheers..
Can you save a scene with all the settings for each track and recall it by loading a song for example? Or does one have to adjust the tracks for each song manually?
I can make a stereo mix and send it to my DAW. What I cannot do yet is use Model 12 as a DAW controller. I special ordered a usb cord so that the computer recognizes it but I can't seem to get it to act like a controller. I am using Mixcraft for a DAW and did try Cubase to see it that would work. But nothing as of today.
I traded to the Model 24 so I don't have a 12 in front of me, but I'm guessing that you probably have to go into the Tascam menu and set it to Multi Track?. Page 3 in the link I posted there...
Can't get the FX to work. Followed these exactly. Can't get it to playback Bluetooth audio from my iPad on channels 9/10 either even though it's paired. Yes, the switches are on Live.
😂I had my in ear transmitter plugged into AUX 2. As soon as I unplugged it the FX came through the track. I also rebooted my iPad and was able to stream audio to the mixer.
Learned everything from you on how to use my dp-008ex , just upgrade to a model 12, but seems I can't assign track to whatever channel I want to record to, I have to unplug the mic and plug into the channel I want to record on and that's disappointing, is there a way to assign tracks? Another thing, how to connect the model 12 to Android phone to get that clear audio, thanks man
Just got this and plugged drum machine line out to channel one line in. Switch is to the left and the main button pushed in. Got nothing at all on headphones. It says “ no card “ so , do I need to plug a card in first to get going? If so, you haven’t mentioned it. Probably because it’s so basic that you need it to get the meters going?
@@StudioonaStick 😳 that was a very fast reply. Thank you so much. I kind of figured and I just started to page through the manual and you already got back to me. Sweat ! Will any SD work?
I can’t seem to pan anything On my Model 12. Everything else functions well, except panning. I realize this is a classic case of user-error. Any help anyone? Thanks so much!!!
So, you can use the Aux outputs for different Monitor Speakers? That is what I needed to know. I have 2 sets of powered monitors, and I have 2 setups, so that will work great, for me. Thanks!
great videos, thanks! was wondering, how would you say the model 12 preamp compares to, say, the asp880 or similar preamp? i've already spent the bucks on the latter so i'm having a hard time justifying recording onto the sd card on the tascam rather than my computer daw via the asp880. what do you think??
The 880 looks like a nice machine. If you mainly use a daw I'd say it's a great choice. Plus it can go to 98k. To me, the Tascam is more for someone who records live most of the time, but it is a cool plus to be able to use it as an interface.
Quick question: I was wondering... do I need a decent external mic preamp, say, especially for vocals? I really want to be able to get the best out of the Tascam. If I should be using a mic pre, can you suggest some? Thanks much for any advice you have. I'm setting up a small studio to record at home, solo. Thanks!
The pre-amps on the Tascam are fine by me, although I do use a T.C. Helicon Mic Mechanic on my own vocals because I'm used to using it and like how it sounds. If you decide that you want to experiment with an external preamp, make sure you put it through the Line, not the Mic input. Otherwise you will obviously still be going through the Tascam preamp. I've done that, and it doesn't really hurt anything, you just have to play with the two gains that you now have. Actually, i didn't hate the way that sounded either!
Can you perform live using that Tascam 12 recorder as a mixer for online performance? Now I will go on a little bit about jamulus online platform to play live with a almost as many people as you want with the ability to choose close by servers for minimal latency and the ability to control the volumes of all the other participants that are in the live public or private session. It sounds so cool Everybody's In Stereo cuz you're using headsets and the quality is just amazing. Everybody sounds fantastic well of course with all the processing we have today. But anyway I felt a little shy and intimidated so I didn't join in on any rooms but I didn't stumble into a room where it was a bass guitar player and the drummer and they were just banging is out having a few beers and having a jam session very cool, little laid-back people and you can simply just join in and if they don't like your sounds they can just bring your slider all the way down or meet you and just activate the slider of another guy who they prefer or whatever but you can put up the slider on everybody that you want to hear and reduce the slider on those people you don't want to hear, say the bass player and drummer song great to you but you don't like the lead guitarist or the singer you can simply add your own vocals live, or leads rhythm guitar whatever

good information, I am going to buy this maybe and this helps me decide.
Why do you use an extra mixer? Is this a necessity?
To illustrate what's coming out of the Mains, Monitor and Headphones of the Tascam. Just for the video...

You downloaded and installed the drivers from Teac?
@@StudioonaStick Yes and I tried different drivers, etc.

How’s the cable looks like?
So the model 12 can't go straight to the speakers?

You could. Latency would be my main concern, just have to try and see.
