This really is a hidden gem. The campground has very spacious sites, first come first served. If you get there before noon and during the week you won’t have a problem getting a site. Very clean restrooms and showers. Panacea has a nice small local grocery store.
We drove that way several times. Stayed in a park in Caliente NV. Always just trying to go point A to point B and never saw any of that. Beautiful, thank you for sharing your pictures and experience.
My claustrophobia was kicking in just watching that slot canyon. I don't think I would attempt to go all the way back into those. Just seems too narrow to me. But it looks like a wonderful campground!!! It is on the list of places to visit now. Thanks for sharing, Pat
Darn! We looked at that online when we stopped at Kershaw-Ryan just south of there last year, but didn't have time to stop there. Guess we will put on our bucket list for next year. Will give me some time to loose some weight so I can get large back side thru those slots. Lol
We stayed just 20 miles away in a small , relatively lush park called Kershaw Ryan. There is a beautiful little park/garden to enjoy. It really is a State of many contrasts!
We did go to Great Basin NP but unfortunately it was still a little early and most of the scenic park drives and campgrounds were still closed due to snow and ice at the higher elevations. Seems to open more in May. What we did see looked very pretty. There are caves to explore kind of like Carlsbad Caverns which we have visited in the past. The ranger said it was quite wet in the caves still would need to dress in wet weather gear and rubber boots so we gave it a pass. The main visitor center located in the town of Baker was closed for the season but a smaller one up by the cave entrance was open with some displays and a short film. I found the film on TH-cam th-cam.com/video/km7dBhMGx_U/w-d-xo.html For camping we stayed at a free BLM rec area about 25 minutes from the national park called Sacramento Pass. I'll have some video from it when I do this months snowbird trip update. Cheers, Ray
Thank you for the video of that remarkable park! I am compiling a list of places to visit based on your travels. Thank you. By the way, did you leave a trail of bread crumbs to find your way out of the moon maze? Fun stuff!
I figured out that due to water always drain through them if you followed the slope down you could find the way back out. :) But there are some that you can climb up and get to higher chambers so that may be tricky, but we stuck to the lower levels this time.
Love these reviews showing hidden gems. It helps when I’m traveling to know what I’m getting into and what to expect. Do you mind sharing cell service in these videos? Working remote and this always helps to know if it’s a weekend trip or weekday trip. Thank you!
I use Starlink Internet Dish for data and a Canadian cell carrier that is on roaming that I don't pay much attention to as I don't call and text much just use the internet for most things. Our Canada Starlink with portability has worked great where we've been in the USA. Cheers, Ray
Nice video of a relatively unknown park. Anne should think about a star tracker like Sky-Watcher Adventurer or iOptron Sky Guider Pro, but beware, it can start her down the rabbit hole of Astrophotography. Think of all the great gear reviews you two could do then!
Its a slightly hardened sand, silt, clay and volcanic ash combo that easily crumbles when dry and washes away when wet. parks.nv.gov/learn/natural-resources-climate/natural-resources-and-climate-of-cathedral-gorge-state-park
Stayed there twice overnight. Had no idea any of these formations existed. My only memory was of the coyotes howling all night and the screaming of rabbits being killed by them.
Yes, we often miss Angie and our older beagle named Oscar and the fun and companionship, but there were also downsides. Shedding hair, walking them in crappy weather, and dealing with a wet, smelly dog. Also limited the time we could spend away from the RV at places that don't allow dogs and worries when the weather was hit. Anne has been battling an auto-immune system illness for the last 4 years, making any physical activity challenging. So, I've had to take over all the day-to-day chores. Adding a dog to the list, especially a puppy, would be too much, and I'd feel bad having fun walking the dog while she is stuck in the camper. We want to get another dog in our life at some point but are planning to hold off until we hopefully do some extended international travel in the future. We know from experience that a dog will be maybe a 15-year commitment. Our last 2 beagles lasted nearly 16 years each. Having said all that, you never know a dog may find us that we can't refuse. :) Cheers, Ray

We just checked out the star trails..... way to go Ann! Awesome shot. 👌
Pretty awesome. Haven’t heard this before. Thanks Ray!
Nice star trails photo!
Very cool rock formations. Like a giant rock maze. Thanks, Ray.
Went there when I was a kid. I grew up in Las Vegas. Also spent a lot of time at Red Rock. Star gazing up thataway blew me away.
It is a hidden gem! We travelled there once in February and were surprised to find it covered with a foot of fresh snow, looked gorgeous!
I used to live in Panaca so know exactly where Cathedral Gorge SP is. Great video. I just came across your channel from a FM post.
This is one of my fav parks. Have explored here lots but didn’t know about this slot canyon. Thanks
Wow, looks like a beautiful place, I had never heard of it... thanks for the video.
You are greatly expanding our travel to see list.

Out in the boonies. Nice find!!
My wife and I enjoyed that same overflow campsite last year on our way back up north, great spot.
Really nice Rey

Very well done. My camera and I will be there next winter. I guess I should add wife and tt as well. 😊
thanks for stopping by, here is the campground we were talking about. th-cam.com/video/cjCmn-cQ9oU/w-d-xo.html
Nice to visit. :) Thanks for the tip on this campsite! Driven by many times. Cheers, Ray
That looked so cool- and I was just saying y’all should go to Great Basin so I can get a look at that and decide whether to go. We’ll be watching.

I'll let her know that. She has so much photography gear I can't keep track :) She may have one.
Think we can make it in there now with a smaller rig
so is that sand or rock? it is kinda cool looking
