In 2011 some mates and I drove from Toronto to Nova Scotia to surf during the winter. Being from Trinidad we were stoked for some snowcapped sessions. We got some of the best left and right hand point breaks to ourselves. The locals then, were against foreigners taking videos because they didn' want it to get crowded over the years. We totally understood the feeling, didnt stop us from scoring the darkest deepest barrels.

i can remember just body surfing and ending up high and dry on the beach, that was in the 80's, when the gulf stream comes close to shore and hurricane season comes early its great, funny growing up there i never saw one surfboard.

    • @doublestrokeroll

fairly warm. 5 or 6mm for the coldest days. Hood, boots and gloves. Getting in is a bit painful when the water creeps in but they do their job. Once the water is in and you're moving it's all good. But if there are any leaks you REALLY feel it.
The worst part aside from getting in and out of the water/changed etc...is probably the lack of flexibility, but honestly once you're out there doing it, you don't really care that much. Surfing is surfing after all. It's almost always fun.

East Coast of Canada has few surfers, great waves after a hurricane comes up from the Caribbean and blows it self out on our shores... Fishermen stay home and the ocean is empty...Gotta like the cold though - Beer and Lobsters to be had at every Hamlet you drive thru..
