This is such a funny and accurate interpretation of Monarch of the Glen. And nice to see Alastair Mackenzie play his actual role of Archie in this. And the spoof of Duncan is quality. "Sorry...sorry...sorry" *does a cartwheel*. 😂
"It's not over yet Archie, I'm not wearing my pink pashmina!" "I found it upstairs in the old fusty-dusty... hold it so the camera can see it!" *Hilarious* Classix F&S
How does she do it? JS once again succeeds in turning herself into someone else. You could swear it was Susan Hampshire. All her facial expressions are dead on.
I live where Monarch Of The Glen was filmed. This is spot on 😀 I worked in a nursery and Archie’s daughter was with us and he used to come in and pick her up 😍
I saw it here in Australia after the series ended and really loved it many. many ways. It had comedic elements too. But this is so funny I can’t believe it. Archie is still glum but gorgeous as ever. Alistair McKenzie served up for French and Saunders. Hilarious 😂
I never watched Monarch Of The Glen (can't bear gentle Sunday evening telly drama) and still found it funny. The "can anybody see my feet" is bizarre and hilarious!!
Amazing how a nose prosthetic can change Dawn French’s ‘look’ so dramatically. So good that Alastair McKenzie agreed to do this because I always thought he was so serious and brooding throughout the run or the show. I used to watch it when living in Australia 2003/2004, would have been on the ABC or possibly SBS.
I've never seen 'The Monarch of the glen', but somehow this is still hilarious. Despite not being familiar with the original, I can still vividly imagine what that must be like: perhaps that is what actually makes a parody good or not. Nothing beats these two.
Very funny and spot on parody of MOTG. It's even funnier that Alastair MacKenzie starred in it to impersonate his "Monarch" character Archie MacDonald. Portrayals of Molly, Lexie, and Duncan were spot on as well. My only complaint is that there's no Golly in it. A well done parody from the same crew that gave us "Uptown Downstairs Abbey" a few years back.
Speakin as a Scottish lassie ah must say Dawn done a braw job wae the accent! It isnea easy! 😂 Incredible double act, Saunders and Lumley are equally brilliant though. 💜💜💜
Excellent parody of my favourite show! Jennifer played Molly so well! Alistair Mackenzie was so good to play himself - I'm sure there were a few out-takes on this story!!
Watching this has made me nostalgic to watch Monarch of the Glen again...even though Dawn was right. Archie was rather pessimistic every week, wasn't he? ☺️
I saw this when it was aired on a christmas special, soooooooo funny. Jennifer Saunders really had Molly's character spot on haha........Don't kiss me, poor Lexie haha
Hi there this was so funny I never watched this when it was on tv as I never used to watch monarch of the glen much only at my mums I watched monarch as she and dad love to watch it .when monarch first came on tv on Sunday nites .I mean my faves ar gorgeous archie and lexie and dungan but I like others to in monarch great show .iv got monarch of the glen on boxset to got them for my 50 th birthday treated myself to them watch it when I wont to then .
"just been onto the bank..no luck. They won''t lend us the 5 pounds 50 for the guinea pig mix.." Dude that''s less than a tenner!! I choked laughing at that xD
Monarch of the Glen eventually devolved into a frustratingly repetitive soap opera. But the early days, particularly when Richard Briers was still on, were fantastic.
French And Saunders.. Saunders And French.. Brilliant Combination! Curtain Up Light The Lights We've Got Nothing To Hit But The Heights Saunders And Lumley...
I have watched a couple of these French-Saunders comedy...thingees and even before I see their names and watch the videos the titles start me laughing. Something that I have noticed about British comedians: as singles, they are quite good, but as pairs or groups (Monty Python, The Goodies for instance) they are outstandingly funny.
I will never ever see anything talented in Jennifer Saunders.. Can't stand her and this is nothing like Monarch Of The Glen. Just because you can take the you-know-what out of someone who is a well regarded actress doesn't make you anything. Hated Ab Fab too
omg i used to love monarch of the glen and archie! it was rubbish when him and hector left. duncan and gilly were good too. saunders played molly really well!
@@alleywatson It's not real? But I just now saw it. Sorry, feeling a bit silly after watching the spoof. French and Saunders...so different, yet what a combination they make.
This is such a funny and accurate interpretation of Monarch of the Glen. And nice to see Alastair Mackenzie play his actual role of Archie in this. And the spoof of Duncan is quality. "Sorry...sorry...sorry" *does a cartwheel*. 😂
"don't be such a pessimist archie. gosh you're like this every week?!" hahaha! brilliant!
This is indistinguishable from a real episode. 😂
Which is what makes it so hilarious! :-D
The guy who plays Archie must have loved doing this! It's so funny!
'No don't kiss me'
"It's not over yet Archie, I'm not wearing my pink pashmina!"
"I found it upstairs in the old fusty-dusty... hold it so the camera can see it!"
*Hilarious* Classix F&S
"No, it's not over yet: I'm not wearing my pink pashmina." XD LOVE IT!
😂😂😂😂
Omg how can Archie not piss himself laughing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
How does she do it? JS once again succeeds in turning herself into someone else. You could swear it was Susan Hampshire. All her facial expressions are dead on.
I've been watching reruns of Monarch of the Glen on UK Drama at the moment and can safely attest that this is a pretty spot on parody!
I loved that show! It aired here in Sweden too back then!
@@JaneDoe-ci3gj and I watched it in Australia in the early 2000s and loved it too!

"They won't lend us the £5.50 for the guinea pig mix unless we put Glen Bogey up as collateral."
Jennifer is a funny, crazy, writer. Great talent.
HILARIOUS!!! And I can't believe hey got Alistair MacKenzie to do this.
I never watched Monarch Of The Glen (can't bear gentle Sunday evening telly drama) and still found it funny. The "can anybody see my feet" is bizarre and hilarious!!
I was fortunate enough to discover MOTG on BBC America 10 years after it went off the air. I loved the show and this is a great spoof
I’m a fan of MOTG, and this was fabulous! (“Don’t kiss me.” ) 🤣
this is so spot on!!!i love monarch of the glen but this is absolutely hilarous.
Jennifer Saunders, Molly (Susan Hampshire) is spot on! And Nice to see Archie.
Duncan's cartwheel 😁
I love watching motg it's such a cozy show
Love how dawn plays lexie
"I picked the best bogey in Scotland" lol
So funny!
Especially that spoof of the Duncan character!
What a laugh!!
OMG. I thought I was watching an original episode. Great show. Excellent.

so so funny....i loved monarch of the glen, they should bring back some good telly, its rubbish now...
can you see my feet? lol
It's was on a few months back in the afternoons on Drama.... After old EastEnders
I've never seen 'The Monarch of the glen', but somehow this is still hilarious. Despite not being familiar with the original, I can still vividly imagine what that must be like: perhaps that is what actually makes a parody good or not. Nothing beats these two.
Jennifer Saunders out here absolutely killing me 🤣🤣🤣

Smashing and spot on brilliant!
This is genius such good sports
OHHHHHH THis is sooooo funny! we love the show, it's our fav, so this parody is so special. Duncan is uproarously funny!
Excellent parody of my favourite show! Jennifer played Molly so well! Alistair Mackenzie was so good to play himself - I'm sure there were a few out-takes on this story!!
As brilliant as it was hysterical!😂😂👏🏻👏🏻❤️
I watched the first series of that show and this is bang-on !!
Ah the guinea pigs are saved!
I have actually not seen this for some weird reason - so funny but bang on!!!!!! They have the loopy household to a t!!!!
How did Archie keep a straight face throughout that?
I watched this show in 2020 during the lockdown and I honestly don't know what this show is about. This parody is spot on 🤣
Watching this has made me nostalgic to watch Monarch of the Glen again...even though Dawn was right. Archie was rather pessimistic every week, wasn't he? ☺️
OMG! That was hilarious and spot-on : )
I love the actor who plays Duncan!
So much more true to life than the original.
I saw this when it was aired on a christmas special, soooooooo funny. Jennifer Saunders really had Molly's character spot on haha........Don't kiss me, poor Lexie haha
“Can you see my feet?” 😂😂😂😂
I didn't get that one?
LMAO "hold it...so the camera can see" I remember seeing this years ago, classic French and Saunders!
this is incredibly accurate for a parody... only a wee bit exaggerated!!
05:00 she actually looks like Molly 😆😆
Hi there this was so funny I never watched this when it was on tv as I never used to watch monarch of the glen much only at my mums I watched monarch as she and dad love to watch it .when monarch first came on tv on Sunday nites .I mean my faves ar gorgeous archie and lexie and dungan but I like others to in monarch great show .iv got monarch of the glen on boxset to got them for my 50 th birthday treated myself to them watch it when I wont to then .

They did best parodies
Everything F&S touch is comedy gold!
Fools Gold or tarnished brass.
So hilarious!!! Loved it!
Yes it is like this in grand Scottish houses!
Love this! this is just too good...
Monarch of the Glen eventually devolved into a frustratingly repetitive soap opera. But the early days, particularly when Richard Briers was still on, were fantastic.
french and saunder are so amazing
Haha! That's totally MOTG in a nutshell! Love it!
Jennifer Saunders as Susan Hampshire is great.
They're all spot on.
Pure genius
I love French & Saunders! :-)
Weirdly the actresses' name who played Lexi was DAWN Steele!!!
French And Saunders.. Saunders And French.. Brilliant Combination! Curtain Up Light The Lights We've Got Nothing To Hit But The Heights Saunders And Lumley...
Lol! JS is brilliant( as usual) playing Molly!
BRILLIANT!
Hilarious! Spot on!
so so brilliant.....
I am going to visit in two week's time to stay in a pod in the forest at Glenbogle. I am so lucky. Hope the midges are gone by then.
Brilliant!
Remember watching this when I was 10 lol so good
AHAAH the end is hillarious xD
So funny. Spot on!!
I had NO Idea french & saunders had done monarch of the glen! XD XD
my two favorites mixed together! =D
This is fucking awesome! I've got tears in my eyes.
BRILLIANT!!!!!
I have watched a couple of these French-Saunders comedy...thingees and even before I see their names and watch the videos the titles start me laughing. Okay I have been puzzling over this for 13 years now. Can anyone explain to me the “Can you see my feet” joke?
Molly is very whimsical and has ever heads the cloud, so it's just her being silly in general
"And I picked a bogie!"
Brilliant !! I used to watch MotG, so I'd love a good parody and you can depend on F&S to deliver. Ha Ha's and Ho Ho HO's all around.
I will never ever see anything talented in Jennifer Saunders.. Can't stand her and this is nothing like Monarch Of The Glen. Just because you can take the you-know-what out of someone who is a well regarded actress doesn't make you anything. Hated Ab Fab too
It was interesting to see.
Can you see my feet?!
Hahahahaaaaa, I love this!
Spot on, this.
Love French and saunders
all the characters were spot on, especially molly! And it was made even better due to Alastair Mackenzie being in it!
Duncan-hahahahaha!
Hilarious.
Jennifer Saunders does a mean Susan Hampshire!
Mean as in spiteful and nasty
@@kevinstephenson4674 - I think it's "mean" as in "VERY good"!
the poor guinea pigs!
Nevermind... Bonnie Prince Charlie saved the day... I love the parody music; a very "glum" version of the theme... perfect!
omg i used to love monarch of the glen and archie! it was rubbish when him and hector left. duncan and gilly were good too. saunders played molly really well!
Yes it must be te real. The same accent, and very cute :D
I have wondered whether Dawn French and Dawn Steele are related! This is great!
just brill
I was thinking the same thing! It was very good though :)
Why do my monarch of the glen vids get removed due to copyright but yet these monarch of the glum French and Saunders don't
+MARKMARCUSMARKIE Because Monarch of the Glum is not a real programme, but a parody of Monarch of the Glen, made by French and Saunders.
Cos it’s not real, it’s a parody
@@alleywatson
It's not real? But I just now saw it.
Sorry, feeling a bit silly after watching the spoof. French and Saunders...so different, yet what a combination they make.
np, thanks for watching and commenting!!
I would have loved for them to do a parody of The Young & The Restless or Emmerdale.
I agree. She does very much.
yes
