Damn, just spotted this today...what came of Free Rivers? Would love to hear it!
So many WP followers dumped on this album (along with the usual vomit from the critics). I still love FLD & Queer as much as ever. This song has always blown me away. I don't think I've ever heard one person (other than myself) say: "I love Funky Little Demons!".

Bought this CD the same month I bought my condo and my Bengal. Condo paid off, Bengal is gone, this song still rocks.
What an absolute gem! The way this song graduates into the final guitar solo, surrounded by all those luscious synths and bleeps always sends ultra chills down my spine. Such cool memories! Still have it on a tape somewhere but I believe it rests there bloody worn-out...

Why wasn’t this ever released as an official single? They made a video for it, but never released it? Would love to know...
It was released as a "special single" only in the USA, but 4AD fired them before. The legend says the band spent all the label's money on drugs.... I'm not sure if Ivo Watts-Russell still was 4AD owner at those Times, but I know there's a period of almost 10 years in the 4AD history when things were very crazy and obscure
@@Ignatius1972 The only period where 4AD was a legend was in Ivo´s time, after that it mutated into some kind of joke.
@@Ignatius1972 The story I read was that the band spent time researching music for inspiration during or prior to the recording of Funky Little Demons. They'd hit record stores and make some purchases, somehow billing 4AD for this. And the label felt they were taking too much time since the last album to produce the FLD album. To some extent, this may have also applied to their previous album. What's left of my memory says that the source for this was Andrew Gray himself in an interview he gave for a magazine while promoting his Limehouse Outlaw album around 2002.

...and yet, 4AD dropped them from the label, right at the release of this video / strong song, leading to the band calling it quits.

Was lucky enough to see TWP blow Pixies off the Octagon stage in Sheffield in the last 80s.
They should have been much bigger but for the awful Madchester that came about and made music bland. Long live TWP.
