    Interesting to see her coming in at the net so much (compared to her usual baseline game). Her net game and volleys looks like they're improving

    Perfect tournament for Iga to play to get used to hard courts again, it's a smaller tournament with not many high ranked players in it. And ofcourse it's also take place in her home country.

    I would imagine there isn't that much of a competition for her here. She does not play many 250s, but It's her home turf so it's understandable that she chose to do so.

    • @marekwojtowicz3005
      @marekwojtowicz3005 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Even if it weren't the home turf this tournament fits nicely into the schedule. Lesser competition and a hard surface is exactly what she needed. She can test her game after grass and have confidence and high expectations for Cincy and Toronto.

      @@marekwojtowicz3005I think his point is that WTA 250 events are not competition for top 10 players. As a matter of fact, WTA rules only allow top 10 players to play in two WTA 250 tournaments each year and only if there are no other top 10 players in that tournament. Also, from 2024 top 30 players cannot play in WTA 250:events if there is another WTA 500 event in the same week. However, it is her home tournament and one of Iga’s virtue is her loyalty to her Polish fans.

    I wished Iga was 100% as she is here back in Wimbledon, she would have walked thru the QF thru SF and Won the Finals.. I hope she is like this for the remaining tournaments and most of all take the US Open again, she would set the bar sooooo high that she would make a statement in any tournaments she signs up for and basiclly puts a thought ifor any player in that tournament saying " Good luck - cause the best your going to do is 2nd Place !! "

    • @stefanmoravcik598

      Iga was perfectly fine in Wimbledon until QFs. With such easy draw, she had her way paved for at least a final appearance. But then she contracted "svitolinitis" :-)

    Although Iga won the title without losing a set, there's still something interesting to see. Match against Wickmayer at semi was a challenge. I think Iga has difficulty fight back the ball deep and low, which would cause her so much trouble. Yeah it's really hard to control it when you have a hard top-spin style.🤔

    I wonder if the Warsaw organizers changed their tournament from clay courts to hard courts just to better prepare Iga for the upcoming hard court swing. It's unlikely but it'd be kinda wholesome if that were true. Poland looking out for their girl🥲

      @vojtasjedyny ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's not just Iga. Quality of Legia courts surface was awful. Even director of the tournament admitted it last year. Organizers and venue owners had to do something. They had three options: repairing existing clay courts (possible only to some degree), re-building surface from scratch (removing old clay, building bottom layer with improved drainage, putting new clay on top) or building hard court. They picked third option which makes most sense for players who are preparing for North American Tennis Summer (so basically all Europeans). Now venue has five courts with Laykold - the same surface as courts during US Open Series. Iga said that quality of the surface is excellent and she is really glad she can practice on it.

    • @rezilearevir2841
      @rezilearevir2841 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is common sense to play this tournament on hard court to better prepare not only Iga but the other players who will be joining the hardcourt swing in the U.S. Whether it's Poland or another country, it is the logical thing to do.
