Glad im not the only one who leaves Spider-man and Miles Morales installed just to go for a quick web swing around new york to relax and have some fun. For me, its like the video game equivalent of going for a walk.
I’ll probably never uninstall this new game for that same reason. Especially now that you can turn on fall damage and turn off swing assistance 👌

I agree I just wish you could change the time of day and weather. I would also like to use the black symbiote still after completing the game or else suits like the classic black tobey suit are kind of ruined with the white symbiote abilities. I would restart in NG plus and just stop progressing the story during the rainy night time but we don't even have NG plus yet.
The amount of times I've gotten to a random crime like a robbery, or armored truck heist as Peter or Miles and the other is either already there or literally swings in to help and the team up moves and quips that follow never fail to leave a smile on my face!
Spider-Man 2 is the greatest superhero game I have ever played.
Just finished it yesterday and "blown away" doesn't even beGIN to describe my impression of it.
For most Gamers, heavy story-driven games are one-and-done. But I am a story-driven Gamer myself. So I replay these type of games a lot. I've played both Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales 6 times so far. But Spider-Man 2?!?!

I actually ended up loving the web wings. I think they were done really well. When web swinging is upgraded fully I found myself using it quite a bit and thought the web wings ended up being just a cool different edition.

As soon as I got my hands on it I realized what they did. Blended some of the best aspects of open world with the original Spiderman trilogy of games. Everything from big boss battles and the we slinging (Spiderman 1-2) to the symbiote suit and Kraven the Hunter (Spiderman 3). It's like Insomniac looked at the best of Spiderman and what makes an open world tick, and crafted a masterpiece

Not really. Combat still not as complex as Web of Shadows. Didn't even have the ability to switch red/blue and black suit on the fly.
@@zeroskaterz92 Im not talking about that. Im referring to the aspects of the open world. The feeling. The tone. Not character style or combat. Clearly after a certain mission you could tell they were inspired by web of shadows. Even some of the shots were the same. Certain enemy types were the same.

In Spiderman 2018 and Spiderman 2 you can get REAL creative with how you can take down a group of enemies and there's more enemy variety. If you wanna pull hairs you should compare it to Shattered Dimensions, which had like 4 different playstyles
@@TheFunVideos13 not the mechanics, just introducing the symbiote suit in the game. Spiderman 3 for the PS2 introduced both Kraven the Hunter, the black suit and venom. The way the suit plays is definitely Web Of Shadows/Prototype though.
I disagree with the WOW factor, definitely felt like it was there! The initial mission, and certain plot surprises had me grinning like crazy like WHAT! When you play or fight someone and you're like holy crap I didn't think they were gonna put that in the game and the best part was the fact that it wasn't all revealed and there was no spoilers in the marketing.
I think because I was trying to do every side activity between each missions when it was available so I didn't rush through the story. I didn't have the issue with slow pacing since it took about 3 and a half days to play instead of like 12 hrs. All the side content adds a lot but I found myself wanting to replay all 3 games afterward.
I was crying at times when they had throwbacks to what happened from the last two games. When I was dying in certain boss fights I was like DAMN, and I wanted to try some more. Feels good to be challenged. I saw every little nod and easter eggg especially with hints here and there for the Raimi movies etc. We kinda know whats to come but the best part is seeing it happen and going like no way they didn't just do that!
No lie, the soundtrack variation was also really welcome. John Paesano really outdid himself! It was so exciting and breath of fresh air instead of hearing the na na nanana theme for 30 hours straight, we had like drum beats, rock riffs, some like middle eastern pipes and more! They were putting all kinds of new isntruments in there so it wasn't generic. And it switched it up throughout the different story beats as well as stylistically between characters when you were playing!
There way more to discuss but I can't wait to see more of what people's interpretations or viewpoints are on things. The writers knocked it out of the park Jon Paquette and all the Marvel/Spidey writers they consulted or had a hand in crafting things was dope. It was like watching an interactive immersive 25 hours movie or tv show. God I just wanna keep playing and enjoying it all.
Seeing specific fights between characters had me enjoying the dialogue and i didn't want to beat them too fast before hearing it all.
There's still so much they can have whether it's Spidey Verse, Madame Web or whatever! Bring it! The best part was a certain mechanic borrowed from Rachet and Clank: Rift Apart. That was smooth!!!!
I wasn't a big fan of Venom in this game but overall excellent Spidey stuff. I like Venom to have a personality. He felt too take over the world villain and Venom has always super personal interactions and conversations with Peter. Felt like that was missing.
Yeah I can agree with that. He felt more generic and less interesting near the end when he starts transforming people and buildings.

Great review but as someone who loved the spidey animated 90s series they didn’t get venom right. Venom should be an psychological and personal menace. An evil Spider-Man with webs. Not some hulk goey monster who wants to take over the world while wanting friendship..that mistake keeps being made with venom in modern day. Harry as a host was a mindless meatpuppet

The title screen tells me I’m at 51% percent completion, so I’ve still got some good ways to go, but I just wanted to say the game has been great so far. One thing I love about it is that it’s not only a full sequel to Spider-Man 2018, but also a full sequel to Miles Morales. Both characters get plenty of spotlight and time to shine. I’ve also heard reviewers mention the spectacle of the game, and oh yeah, there have been many instances where I’m just thinking “Oh yeah, Insomniac are just showing off now lol”

I've currently just finished the original again today, loved it all over again so now for a quick playthrough of Miles Morales again and then it's on to the sequel tomorrow! HYPE!!
The M.J missions honestly didn’t bother me as much this time around due to the fact that every single one of them were involved somehow in the best missions in the game or leading up to them
It is nice when a game gets released and it is actually a finished product, insomniac has fully earned my trust and respect as a game studio

I totally agree with the wingsuit. Feels a tad bit too goofy. The first Infamous handled this better, where you could slide on railway tracks to get faster from A to B. It made more sense in the world; was better integrated as a whole.
Currently sitting through the first 2hrs so far, absolutely awesome, cant wait to dive into it more since i got the weekend off from work.

That one reference to the 90s animated Spider-man with Peters personal "neogenic nightmare" was brilliant (trying to avoid spoilers, those who know, know)
Fun fact: Both Peter Parker's VA in English (Yuri Lowenthal) and Latin American Spanish (Víctor Ugarte), have also voiced Sasuke Uchiha in the Naruto franchise.
Nothing is better than finally getting your hands on 19 inches of Venom.
I'm cool with Spidey being able to "fly" using air currents and webbing, because balloon spiders do exactly that.
I love how like in Arkham Knight the situation escalates the further in the story you get like you start off fine everything is in your control then by the midway point it starts to get outta hand and you’re trying to cover up the worry like “nope still cookin we’re all good.” Then by the time end comes around you’re like “I DO NOT have this under control where the hell are the Avengers?!”

Got it Thursday at 9pm.
100% by Saturday 6am. That includes all suits and colors all zones finished, and of course the game. Only at default difficulty though.
To say I was hooked is putting it mildly. I loved this game and want to play it again already. Good story too.
I just walked around town admiring the details for a few hours after that. Throwing anything I could at people, just for fun. 😜
Why is nobody talking about the false advertising of "Be Greater. Together." and there not being co-op despite having two playable characters. Who the fuck am I supposed to Be Greater Together with, Sony?

The perfection in the physics was one of my biggest complaints
I liked that turning the assist all the way off allows you to make mistakes. Not in some "I like to be challenged", kind of way but in a classic kind of way.
I was 9 when I played the GameCube spiderman 2 and you used to constantly smack walls and hit the ground, it reminded me ALOT of that. One thing I still miss is being able to shoot webs while RUNNING and then jump to start a swing, if they add that and web climbing to 3 it'll truly be a perfect trilogy for me. Spiderman 2 improved in small incremental ways that I was not expecting and I truly thank them for that
They have so many ways to LARP as whatever Spider-Man you grew up with. God I love Insomniac so much
I felt as though Peter was extremely nerfed numerous times throughout the story simply to help the plot but it really demeans him as a 10+ year spiderman. I also wish they did more with the symbiote in terms of animations. Swing styles. Walk styles. Dodge animations. Even the basic combo stays the same. Outside of the attack abilities and black webbing there isn’t much to differentiate what is suppose to be the beloved symbiote suit and regular ol spidey. Outside of those minor complaints I find the game to be a masterpiece. I love this and it’s been worth the wait.
Peter was nerfed so badly it hurts, at one point in the story he gets stuck for a full minute under a fridge. A FRIDGE. I'm pretty sure spider-man can lift tons of concrete by himself, and should not be weighed down by a kitchen appliance. Miles on the other hand, gets so many buffs he may as well be superman. Man can move at the speed of lightning, they actually made it one of his moves he can spam

Love seeing the TASM2 being used, it’s an all time favourite of mine and we waited so long for it! 🤩
I liked the web wing, really fun to use, but avoided the wind tunnels because, yeah, he turns into Superman and you can just put the dualsense down and he will fly anyways. But I advise everybody to do the side mission where you have fly behind those bird drones, trust me, the end of that mission is really, REALLY worth it.
Love Jake Baldino and love Spiderman. This is a win-win. Can't wait to hear what you think of the whole game. I can't wait to play the game

to fix the web wing issue, insomniac should make it so that if you damage your suit, it also damages the wings and you cannot use it for a specific time, unless you have the symbiote, which would fix the wings automatically. they could make this a feature that you can enable or disable like the fall damage
Thats like saying we should disable web swinging because Spidey got beat up too hard and you cant get it back until u go home and get new web shooters 😂

This game was basically the Ultimate Spiderman symbiote episode but written a thousand times better.
After Redfall and Starfield, I was feeling really degectet about gaming as a whole! Soider-Man 2 has reinvigorated my passion for video games.
A lot of reviewers I think didn’t do all the traversal suit tech upgrades
I legit filled out the traversal suit tech upgrades first and then I did everything else
The traversal suit tech unlocks higher max speeds with the first one making u fast and then the second one making u have pretty much no speed cap it’s just up to the player how fast they can go
And that combines with the swing assist setting which are awesome and just a note that setting swing assist to off doesnt make u slower
Its just harder to swing it takes more skill
And that combined with the web wings which imo perfectly complement the swinging and the loop de loop and the horizontal loop de loop and the abilities like spider dash and jump and u going through extremely tight spaces and the crazy high speeds make up for a incredibly high skill ceiling
It’s by far the best traversal system in all of gaming
I really hope they keep the wing suit the way it is because at the end of the days it’s a CHOICE!. I love swinging just as much as everyone else but I also love exploring and If i’m gonna be playing this game year or 2 from now where I know it like the back of my hand I like having the option to just fuck around and not swing and glide where I want to and pull cool looking tricks with it. I hate it when developers limit a feature after some people are like “uhh well actually i don’t like it because I just want to swing more” so it fucks over those of us who also likes swinging just as much as them but also don’t mind messing around sometimes with a mechanic that’s opposite of the character just to have some fun.
So i’m preying they don’t mess with it and actually give us more freedom with it in the next game
Exactly. I’d understand the complaints if you were constantly forced to use them, but you’re not. Only a few times in the story, and for the bird drone missions.
8/10 is a good score for a game like spiderman. only reason i would give it a 9/10 is because of the VRR 120 fps performance mode. but ya, spider man isn't on the same level as GTA or cyberpunk. one thing i dont like about spider man games is the npc's. there's a lot of npc's but i still feel alone. idk why. in gta and cyberpunk, i actually feel immersed with the npc crowd.

I don't get why they insist on putting Mary Jane and civilian Spider-Man sections in these games. No one prefers that to playing as Spider-Man, and it just bevomes a tedious chore to get through.

This is the most intimidating/imposing that Kraven has ever been, IMO. Dude is a beast (pun not intended).
I've read plenty of Spiderman but never a kraven story and I never understood how he could make for an interesting character but HOLY, actually made me want to read some kraven stories he was so well done
I got to play the first couple of hours before bed this evening. I had no notes really on the first one, I'm a Spider-Man obsessive too Jake and you can tell insomniac gets the IP. It's still their story but it feels authentic and not like shitty fan fiction which is what those venom movies feel like to me. Honestly just wanted more Spider-Man and this seems to be it so far
the whole spidey venom suit/transformation was missing that one moment that shows spider changing to venom with the mouth and all that
Nice Shirt dude! I'm 40+ and gaming is my life, i lost interest in it in High School days, but what pulled me back is seeing someone playing max payne in PC, and once i saw that MATRIX gameplay, i was pulled back to the gaming world and 30 yrs passed still gaming!! hahah
I don't care too much about the missing suits because I'm sure they'll add them eventually. They kept adding a surprising amount of suits to the first game way after launch, so I would be surprised if they don't keep patching this one with quality of life updates, suits and bug fixes. I especially would love to see them add the podcasts to the collection tab, something I was very surprised to see absent. I missed some rants from Jonah because something in the open world interrupted the podcast and there's no way to play it back, but I hope they fix that eventually
Same here about the podcasts. Both the previous two games let you listen to the podcasts again from the menu, so I was really surprised this one didn’t. Hopefully that gets patched in!

I'm just not interested in a third Spider-Man game in the same location doing mostly the same exact things with characters and storylines we've been experiencing for decades through comics, movies, games, and TV. I think it'll be a good game but I can't justify paying $70 for maybe 20 hours of gameplay doing largely the same things as I already have for the first two games. 🤷♂

I loved the game, the combat is tricky at times, but the power up usage seems like a homage to Ultimate Alliance and X-Men Legends, which UA 1-2 and X Men Legends 1-2 were some.of my favorite games as a kid.
One of the best sequels ever, other devs needs to see this is what happens when you focus on NEXT GEN only no cross gen smh I be amazed how it looks

this game is polished af but I’ve encountered game breaking bugs that crash my game when I try to restart checkpoint, it’s happened 3 times, Once saving people as miles from the boat propeller, the boat disappeared I teleported in the middle of the ocean and it crashed, second time I was flying through the air doing the slingshot shot and I landed superfast to another slingshot and it crashed, 3rd time i was doing a crime mission and some arriving bad guys got out the car and proceeded to T-pose when i hit them they went back to normal but the mission never completed after I beat them up I restarted checkpoint and it crashed, sooo wouldn’t say its 100% perfect anyone else experience that weird miles boat bug?

Bradly Cooper…I mean kraven is badass in this. I wasn’t a big kraven fan in the comics or shows. But this just changed my mind about him.
The world feels 100% more alive and colorful.
NGL, I have 7 main missions left & I already think that I like this game more than the OG & miles morales simply because I’m an action guy, & this has NON STOP action , this is the same reason I loved gowr more than the 2018, all great games, the narratives are amazing, but it makes sense for the first game to be more “world building” esk, wouldn’t make that much since to still be doing that in a sequel. I also wish the game was longer simply because I just prefer longer games, series, movies, when shit is good you just don’t want it to end that’s how it is with this 😭

Not a spoiler, but when you get far enough, check out the through the spider verse skin. It's animated the same as the movie. Getting into fights with that suit is fun.

we've been trying to find the old Armory/Brewery in Brooklyn. have you been able to find any real life landmarks in the Williamsburg/Brooklyn/Bed-Stuy areas of the game?
Making my way through it. The story and way they integrate the story into gameplay feels very next generation to me. I’m absolutely loving it. Gameplay is great as you would expect, however, it has a lot and I mean a lot of glitches that need to be addressed. Everything from crashes to repeated failures to acknowledge that you have completed a mission are well over double digits for me. It is beginning to weigh on my overall enjoyment of the game, but not to say I am not still enjoying it. They just need to release a patch because this is not ready as is.
Every time the game crashes I'm going like 160 mph and I just think to myself...welp the ps5 has been pushed to its limit
