An enigmatic travel through any desert, mountain, ocean, jungle or state, anywhere, to finally arrive to beauty, peace, music. A true Silk Road to heaven.
Apart from the occasional audio popping, this is my favorite performance of this song. The progression from slow to fast to slow is much more gradual and dynamic than the album recording, and it really helps you put yourself in the place of a pre-modern caravan trader resting for the night and hearing the music at the local caravansarai.

That is Yoyo Ma man thoroughly enjoying himself playing Persian music, hellehlujah. This music flows like ice cold water from the mountaintops into my soul, it is as if the gates of heaven have been flung open and all the good things promised about life in heaven have been allowed to float down to earth.
Absolutely beautiful, mystical, gentle and lovely. It seems is telling us a story thousands years old. What a magnificent harmony. Bravo Silk Road Ensemble for such an amazing work of art.
I think This music tried to describe the Silk Road as a beautiful and important ancient connector between Persia and China ,so many Asian countries as well.
Powerful and greatest music. Beautiful mix of Kurdish and Asian Music. Absolutely lovely. Greatest respect to all of them and you '' doostmusic'' Best wishes ZANKO
Kurdish and Asian! wow! what a small mind! The piece was in Chahar Gah by Kassaee in Iran and Kalhor made it into a beautiful piece with this ensemble. Kalhor is from Iran.
This piece was inspired by a classical Persian piece called 'The morning Greetings' from Iranian musician Hassan Kassaee. It is played in Mode 'Chahar Gah', one of the most epic musical modes in persian (Iranian) music. Kalhor made it into a wonderful work in this performance with a beautifully arranged international silk road ensemble. The link to Kassaee's original piece is here: th-cam.com/video/rhTRYweQmkg/w-d-xo.html

This beautiful music deserves a better recording. I do have the C.D. of it and the recording is perfect. This recording is poor.
