I just know exactly what she's singing about. To see that pain, that poverty, but also that joy that people are sharing with you, it changes you ! People, God is calling us ! Africa is not as far away as you think or wish. We are responsible. Let us make a difference.
This reminds me of the people I see every day who don't know Jesus. So many lives, so many people who need to know that Jesus loves them and died to save them from the sin in this world. I saw what I saw...right here at home...Thank you Sara! Grasping at the courage that God alone gives me to share the good news to those around me.
this is an awesome song and she has a voice that is a gift from the Lord. I too thank the Lord for those God has given the duty and priviledge of inspiring the rest of us with songs. thank You Lord for blessing your pple and pouring out on your pple that we might be a blessing and that we too might pour out to others...in Jesus precious Name.. Amen.
This song inspires the whole of me, not only the what I hear but, re-energise my resolve to serve the lord. Am very touched by what God is doing in Africa.
The hope in all of their eyes, in the midst of the meager lives they are living. With memories non of us could begin to imagine. Nor desire. It truly is an insperation and motivation to look at the purposes of Gods blessing on us in a whole new Light.
thanks for the encouragement, yea I want to do that. My pastor has traveled to like 30 countries on mission trips, he always inspired people to do that. I know God is able, so I hope and pray I get to minister God`s word throughout the country.
Wow Wonderful This is Amazing Grace Thank You Sara and Troy and All Others God Bless You All The Eternal-Love-Wind-Rocket-Ship-JESUS COMES VERY SOON HALLELUJAH FATHER AND LORD JESUS CHRIST
moved to tears again. Many years ago I was in a dark place and saw this video on TV. I did not know Sara Groves but her words " your courage asks me what I am afraid of " and seeing the boy roll a tire with a stick got to me. I mentioned the video to a lady at work and she gave me the Conversations CD to keep. I still have it to this day. Painting Pictures of Egypt was and still is such a powerful song to my heart. It says, The future feels so hard and I want to go back/But the places that used to fit me cannot hold the things I’ve learned, and those roads were closed off to me while my back was turned." Wow, so much said in such few words and they express what I feel and experience and thought no one else in the world could know. Thank you Sara Groves. May God bless you wherever you are and whatever you are doing right now.
I saw Sara sing this in Houston, and it is probably the most moving song I have ever heard. I cried throughout and just about every time I hear it, and I don't do that very often with songs. Thank you Sara for a truly inspiring and uplifting song. You are a rare jewel in the music world.
A great video and a great singer. Reminds me of our trip to Tanzania where we saw similar things. The joy people have who in our eyes have nothing.... do we have their joy because we have much?
Amazing to me to see those young men with next to nothing and the Smiles they just let shine so brightly despite their earthy fate. Great song from Sara, she's a new discovery for me, thank you for this. Praise Him!
This is amazing, i just found this video today.. i went to Rwanda this past summer on a missions trip, and her words in this video are amazing and true .. it truely "cut me to the soul"
Watched this video almost ten years ago on TBN, and it stuck with me since then. Suddenly came to my memory again today, made me go search for it. Powerful lyrics, moving visuals, anointed voice... Only few things have impacted me as much as this. Thank you, and thank God.
Same here. This video moved me to make impact within my community. I realized that love was an action word and we needed to show it. Inspirational till date. I remembered it today as I and friends navigate through the current pandemic and came here. We are called to love. Nothing more!
Such deep admiration and am honored to stand in the presence of her love. Her songs have had me in tears tonight. Partly in shame for how little I do to make a difference with all God's great gifts to me. I am inspired. Thank you, Sara.
Very emotive video and song. Very inspiring too. One of my best videos on youtube. LOVE IS POWERFUL AND GOD IS GREAT. ONE DAY PEACE AND LOVE SHALL RULE ON EARTH. AMEN.
I love this songs and any other songs with pertinent messages like this. A similar song is A song for Sarajevo by Judy collins which speaks from a child's perspective of the terrors of everyday life in a war stricken country.
SongbirdGLG70: You are SO right! Thanks for reminding me and others to reach out to people, no matter who they are, for Christ....the way He wants us to. God bless you for speaking the truth!! Keep reaching!
Way to go, Sara. Aren't you glad you went? I'm soon headed for Haiti myself. It looks much the same there. You know, evil isn't the opposite of good, evil is just the absence of good, just as darkness is the absence of light. Rwanda may seem like a dark place, but when you reach out w/ the love of Christ you bring them light... the Light of the World. Well done!
I just stumbled on thsi video by accident. I never heard of Sara Groves before and i am wondering why. I am happy i did though. I enjoyed watching the video, listening to the song. It has so much value, so much quality. It radiates the beauty of love, compassion, hope, the spirit of sharing. Ooooh i loved it. Who is this magnificent lady singer?!
This is the Gospel in action - the scene of her friend giving the old man the shirt off his back - this demonstrates the love of Jesus in action - speaks more powerfully than words - is felt more powerfully than words alone Proverbs 18:16 A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.
When you have see the poor be happy, that is a blessing. rich people fall into temptation, they are too proud to share their riches with people who have nothing.
I think her point is... there are those around us also who are hurting and in need...We need to do all we can to help others- she went to Africa, we as Christians can help the poor and homeless in our own areas and in the inner cities. People are going hungry and are in need. We need to ask ourselves... what can we do here as well.
yea, God is truly amazing, amazing God is he. I would love to go on a mission trip, many people are hurting so we need so spread the gospel across this country. how did yous sis like colombia?
Much needed help has arrived in Kenya since President Barak Obama accepted the Democratic nomination. My sponserd family is in Kenya. I have such dreams & hopes for them all.
Part of the reason that there are so many suffering children in Africa is that it is almost impossible to adopt from there. I was there for 6 months, and then Kenya changed their laws, ending our adoption. We had to send Michael back to Mother Teresa's in Huruma Slum in Nairobi. There is a real anti-adoption culture there. They need Jesus so they can care about orphans. Their Christianity is like 1 inch deep (like here).
Just saw she is coming to New Jersey on Sept. 10th to benefit a christian adoption outreach. Got tickets through website of preciousinhissightnj org or fbcnj org.
This is talking about following the law. God always wants people to do what is right. He places governments so we do not have anarchy. I am a bit late but this is necessary none the less.
@12rickvargas I don't think there's shame for you if you regularly realise how lucky you are to be able to eat well and live in a warm house. There is no shame in saying 'thank You' to God for what you have and still (try to) live sober.
So beautiful, this song touches my soul, it has for many years. The words, the music, remind me of all those family members who raised us to be like Christ. Thank you, this song is a reminder that we all belong to each other.
Little knowledge is dangerous, guys, it's not enough to look at one passage and think it's the be-all of the entire faith --in the same way that we don't look at the map of a single country and think it's the whole world. Read the bible. If you can't understand it, there's a lot of people who can help.
@zinnahblatee80 Have hope, Jesus will come back to earth soon and then things will be very different. Collect your riches in heaven and your heart, where nobody can steal them. Pray before you eat and thank God that you can eat that food and that you can live in the house you're living in. Don't let anyone or anything stop you to live the life God has planned for you.
Where does it denounce it? Divine right is taugh in Romans 13. 1 ¶ Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
I did my master's degree on the damaging affects of mission trips to Uganda (although can be applied to other African countries). And while I am sure the author of this song is nice and well intentioned, the projection of Africa is quite offensive. DM me for details.
Possibly. But the Spirit used this song to change the course of my business and life. I didn't build a dream house. I started a different business that became a different career. Now give as much as I live on. There can be "toxic charity" I get that. I've lived overseas. Then there can be what happened to me.
I dont think this video is about bringing Christianity to Africa I think its more about the love and joy she saw in these ppl even though they have nothing . The American way is not the right way ! !!!!! Help people because thats what Jesus would do not cuase you want to spread religion .
Awesome! my sister went to colombia, SA and now she wants to go to Africa. its amazing what God can do for us :)
Heard Sara on WCRF Cleveland, can't hear this song enough. God Bless you Sara.
I just know exactly what she's singing about. To see that pain, that poverty, but also that joy that people are sharing with you, it changes you !

Beautiful. Thank you. May God's kingdom come in us and in all of creation.

Thank you Lord for Sara's gift of talent to share how so many of us feel.
This is amazing, i just found this video today.. i went to Rwanda this past summer on a missions trip, and her words in this video are amazing and true .. it truely "cut me to the soul"

That's soo cool...And soo sad, we don't realized how blessed we are...
this always gets me close to tears
SongbirdGLG70: You are SO right! Thanks for reminding me and others to reach out to people, no matter who they are, for Christ....the way He wants us to. God bless you for speaking the truth!! Keep reaching!
I bawl like a baby every time I watch this. And I'm a 6'2 black man.
I really want to travel the world to help people that are hurting. As servants of Jesus Christ, we should help more people that are hurting.
i love this song so much..
Tears!!! Thank you Sarah, your reward is with the Lord

For God sake, why is someone hating this video? Whats wrong with it?? **SMH**
Yes, let us remember that we must also be humble even in our "generosity" in order to avoid humiliating condescension.
Very touching video, awesome.
This is really beautiful
I love this song even more now that I'm going on a mission trip to London
Deeply touching
This song is inspiring. The video is great too.

You should totally do it! Just pray about it and God will help you.
Sara's soul sister from another continent must be Brooke Frasier. They are so similar in style. Sara is my wife's favorite.
As I look around the United States, and consider the affect its culture has had on me, I begin to wonder if we have gotten things terribly wrong.
This is talking about following the law. God always wants people to do what is right. He places governments so we do not have anarchy. I am a bit late but this is necessary none the less.
where did you find that??
im not so sure. :/
does anyone the lyrics for this?
Hi, I Live in Kenya and I see what is happening. Can I link up with your sponsored family, I work in partnership with Blood Water and Jars of clay
