Good interview, could even be longer. Got to give these kinda of guest time to explain their ideas. Bloomberg should do more of this. This is also what is happening in the podcast space, long in depth interviews with interesting thinkers.

Lady, if you think no tariffs would make South Koreans buy American cars, you are gravely mistaken.

A lot of people who were thinking of investing in the dotcom bubble are grateful that they took that prediction to heart.

Aww poor baby, you would defend your precious economist everytime wouldn't you. What about his prediction of total collapse after Trump victory? How did that turn out? His internet prediction was something like this... " this is no more influential than the fax machine". So yeah, live in your bubble, and Bernie Sanders may still be able to win the nomination.

+Jish John +drmodestoesq I hate to have to say it, but both of you are wrong, since the quote you're referring to wasn't actually a serious prediction, but a piece for Time Magazine's 100th year anniversary, that was meant to be over-the-top and provocative. This is something people consistently get wrong, usually because they've heard it from a friend, or something.

Andres LeBon I thought it was clear to everyone that his suggestion was tongue-in-cheek, and he specifies that it would have to be faked. Krugman’s point is that a flurry of economic activity conducted under the false notion that an alien invasion was imminent would provide in short time the stimulus necessary to hurry up the post-2009 recovery (you’ll notice that he hasn’t “proposed” this in more recent interviews). It was just a humorous take on a basic Keynesian principle, and I’m surprised there are people trying to dunk on him over this.

Krugman is a lame Keynesian economist. Invite an Austrian Economist. The Nobel Prize has lost its value.. when people won the "nobel peace prize" while doing the opposite.
