Hey everyone! Thanks for watching! This video is for our customers out there who may not know just where to keep there home's temperatures during the hot summer. Enjoy and as always thanks for your support!
We finally had central a/c installed in our house last year after the indoor temp reached 96*! We kept it pretty much set at 74* but like you said, we do adjust it slightly up/down depending on how we feel. It's a great feeling to come into a cool house! God bless the man who invented central a/c! Lol
Here... The Human Body absorbs the Sun's Radiation, it starts at 72F Degree. As you get older, the body needs more Radiation to function, which lots of people including ALL the best scientists in the world do not know. Well, they have a slight bit of clue, but THEY do not know that our body needs Radiation to survive. The best Temperature for the Human Body is 72F and sleep is 70F. If you are EMF Sensitive, set it at 74F - 76F. If you are older, like 65+, you need at least 76F - 80F. *NOTE:* Try it at 72F and you will see how comfortable it will be and YES, your body will adjust to this. If you are older... Try it at 74F-76F-78F and see your comfort settings.
We have our 3 ac at 78 at different times of the day. Our living room ac is on all day on heatwave days and off at night then the 2 bedroom ac are on at 4- 6 hrs at night still between 76-78... 5 electric fans on circulating 15-20 hrs a day
Go with 20 degrees lower temp then outside factoring in humidex. You also need to get a feel for your a/c. During a heatwave mine seems happy at 79f. I bump it to 81 in the afternoons when the sun is hitting my windows. I dont like my ac running constantly, set to auto it cycles. When its constantly running for hours its bound to freeze over.
Hi, Laynne this is Jermey McGuire. I too live in south Texas, since late October 2021.” I previously had a Lennox XC16 5 ton air conditioner from 2009 and a Goodman 4 ton air conditioner. From 2018 my upstairs Lennox air conditioner wouldn’t cool under 80 for the past 2 summers and my downstairs air conditioner wouldn’t keep up.” It was hot and miserable!! Especially upstairs, I just got 2 brand new air fresheners installed a couple days ago. Now my upstairs thermostats at a cool 78!!! I’d rather be cool than burning up! I agree with you it’s hot from May-October, I’m ready to tackle the heat.” And stay cool and comfortable. My new air conditioners will be keeping me cool this summer is going to be hot I hope you stay cool!! 🫶🏻🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗♥️
I like mine at 74 it’s comfortable I don’t like it any less. I do not move it. Running it lower makes the unit work harder and problems occur. When I come home from work it still says 74 sometimes it will say 75 but no higher.
Fresno Ca I tell our customers you have several factors that determine how Comfortable you will be, Windows, Insulation, & unit capacity. I like the 78-80 range here in the Valley, We are trying just to escape the scorching 90+ 100+ weather. But we always run into that one house who LOVES their tstat to run at 75-70.
I usually have it on at 83 all day long, which is fine with me, is 83 an ok temp to keep or should move the dial down to 80? Appreciate your response, I'm in Florida.
I agree with you. 72 degrees is perfect for me and I work outside alot so I like to come home to a cool home. in the winter I like it at 64-66 degrees.
I keep my temperature at 76º and that is my comfort temp all year round. I'm thinking if I adjust it while I'm away the unit will have to work harder and nonstop to reach the temperature I like.
For me it depends on the house. Some houses run at 78 during the day andn73 at night nicely while other homes I’ve lived in needs to be at 80 during day and 75 at night or else the ac won’t shut down and take breaks. I would say just keep adjusting until your ac runs efficiently. You don’t want it running none stop
I set mine to 80. But there are factors when finding the sweet spot. The number one and really the only factor is insulation. This includes the outter structure of your dwelling rather if it is a house or an apartment. I live in an apartment with good insulation and it is 90% brick on the outer structure. When I set it to 80 all day, my apartment stays cool enough where the ac would come on and off every 20 minutes or so during the day even in 100 degree weather and the intervals are longer at night. In a wood structure, this would be much different even with good insulation, mainly with older structures. I also have blackout curtains which helps keep the light from beaming in, thus making my apartment more favorable for cooling.
I, agree 72°F is a good temperature! I have my upstairs thermostat set to 79 during the hot afternoon. The temperature dropped to 73°F!!! I have a clock with a builtin thermometer I got the clock sitting on top of my toilet.the clock read 73°F in my bathroom in my bedroom.” I, got a standing fan I put my fan in the doorway to my bathroom, to blow that cold air into my bedroom!!
My personal opinion is to keep it no more than 8 degrees difference than outside unless it gets over 86 degrees. I will never set it higher than 77 or 78 degrees. But, I have a brand new high end TRANE AC condenser and furnace. I also have a programmable thermostat that with a schedule and attached to my Google home. I always ensure it knows when I’m away for longer periods in order to save more money. With shorter periods I don’t change as I don’t want the AC to go up and back down right away…
Well said Greg. I get tired of our power companies here in FL (I am on Duke Energy) saying to lower our electric bill we should keep our thermostats on 78. For me, that is uncomfortable because of our high humidity levels. I have the exact same thermostat you showed in the video and it is set to 75 when I am home, 77 when I am at work, and 73 at night. If I go on vacation, I put it in Vacation Mode and keep the house at 78 for A/C and 65 for Heat. That works well for me. My electric bill is usually under $100, but if the temp outside is over 95+ it will get over $100.00.
It took awhile, but 78 degrees is fine for us in South Florida....the temp is averaging 93 these days so FPL recommends 78. Not a good idea to set the thermostat higher when you are not there since it takes hours to restore back to 78. We started at 75 for a few weeks, then 76 then 77 and now 78.... you can get accumulated to 78 if you are patient thereby being comfortable and saving energy (money)
It all depends on where the air is coming from and how high or low the ceilings and the air coming from the floor or ceiling 76 -78 at my house is more than I can stand coming from my floor vents other wise I have a high power electric fan I put over every floor vents for forced induction and then it gets really cold and if push comes to a shove I can just take a warm shower and freeze high ceiling takes up a lot of cold air and heat
I’ll love it a little warmer and I will have mine at 73-77 degrees I will never set it higher than 79and I’ll don’t have to worry about the electricity bill bc I’ll have a solar panel and save lots of money

@@sl4983 - Depends on the "EMF Level". There is something that affects the Human Body which I can not say. I'm trying to protect something I have invented. But here is what I can help you with. The Human Body absorbs and expels Radiation, which is from the Sun itself. It's a daily cycle too. Every day, you will need the Sun and then when you sleep, you expel what is known as Decay Radiation. So when you sleep, you need to go lower than "absorbing" so the next day, your body can absorb again. It's a very complicated discovery... YES, that is why it's hard to sleep during the day. In short... To get the right temperature for your body, you need to test these 3 settings... 70F - 68F - 66F - 64F (Low 4th). Test each increment 2-3 days, if you wake up refreshed and less tired, then you know your level - EMF Sensitivity !!! *NOTE:* This will prove that "EMF Sensitivity" doesn't exist, but it's a cause. I also invented something too, it's in my vids.... The Wonder Bracelets !!!
@@sl4983 - *Answer:* *Q.* Do you think older ages prefer a warmer temp? *A.* During the day, yes. But at night, you want to go lower.... See the above suggestions. *Q.* Does this mean that seniors should be getting more sun? *A.* YES, you need to be in the sun more because as you get older, your 'Internal Battery' gets weaker. By charging, you will digest better, and other functions will get better.... Only ONE problem.... When Radiation Decays, it will create havoc in "older" body. That is why & how I invented The Wonder Bracelets !!!
I can't even imagine using 78 or above in the hot South East Texas summers! I'll have to accept whatever the increase is for my electric bill, to stay at 74-75.🙂
The AC dries out the air so it feels cooler, 78 at 45-50% humidity is OK, but at 70-80% it is hot. I do live in North Carolina, so it's humid most of the time.
@@monkeyboy4746 I live in the Fayetteville area and it sometimes gets to 100F in the summer. It’s very humid here as well. I keep my Honeywell WiFi thermostat set to 74F during the day, 73F in the evening, and 71F at night to be comfortable.
We used to be those 68F people but over the years we've gotten ourselves used to 73 so far while we are home and 75 while we are gone, can't let the pupper get hot!
I don’t have a thermostat I just wanted to know 78F ( 25.5C ) is a bit to hot in my opinion same with most of you in the comment section agree Although it feels nice and cool at around 74-75F ( 23.3C - 23.8 C ) I am comfortable until it gets to 76F ( 24.4 C ) with good air circulation and humidity. Although if I had a thermostat the golden goal would be 74F ( 23.3 C ) in the day and 69F ( 20.6 C ) at night
We've had a Honeywell Wi-Fi programmable thermostat for about 5 years and it's the Best Thermostat ever! It really does help save heating and cooling energy. You get a monthly Honeywell Report that tells you how much the unit is running compared to last years use and so far the reports are showing it was hotter last year 2018. "July Trends: Heating & cooling compared with last year. On average, temperatures were 4° cooler than July 2018. July 2019 Avg Hi: 83° Avg Lo: 64° .July 2018 Avg Hi: 88° Avg Lo: 68°. The report also shows how many hours the unit ran. We set at 78 days and 73 at night, its very comfortable. Right now at 3: PM it's 104 deg. outside. I'm in southern California.
All I have to say is Supply Air Senser. . . And, this video is one of the best on this subject on TH-cam. Common sense. (31 years experience here) Ecobee with Alexa is a life saver for us, customer confusion is almost zero and they love the "talk" feature, not to mention the thermostat does 50% of what homeowners use their computer for.
Biggest draw on your electric bill is the ac, I do exactly as he says 84/78 using a wifi controlled thermostat save allot of money so far and I help the environment by not running the unit so hard. Just do it!
So what you're saying is the higher you set your temperature during the summer the more you save? I want my AC to run but it shouldn't be running more than 30 minutes at a time right? I'm trying to avoid any high electric bill so far I've been lucky but I want to make sure I keep it that way. I tried to keep it on auto and around 72 to 75° give or take. 🤷
It depends on what you are comfortable at. Try 75 for a while and see how that feels. If you need it cooler try 73. I know some people who run it at 68! I also know people who keep it at 80 or 82. So it really just depends on you.
Yep depends on the house...my house is a 90s era 2 story home...It feels good on 72 because the air gotta flow upstairs also...So if I was to set it on 75 it takes forever to kicks on then the upstairs becomes hot quick lol
Isn't it true that, the only difference in cast to a lower temp is the initial cost? Once the home reaches the temp, to maintain it is no more than a few degrees lower. To maintain a temp, cost no more, regardless if it's set at 74 or 72. The trick is leaving the T-stat along.
78 degrees on a south Texas summer I don’t think so. I’m still wanting to find my perfect temperature and I think 74 degrees is good. I’m in 73 right now but I think 74 would be perfect.
I tell everyone I am saving money on gas for my car because I work from home. I didn't think about needing to keep the AC on all day for the same reason
Any one glad they live in the conservative south. We don’t have to worry about electricity and it is pretty cheap due to all the dams we built. 150.00 a month and leave thermostat on 69
They key to a cheap bill in the summer is having AAA air circulation to create a good breeze inside your home. I live in deep South Texas in subtropical humid conditions. We have our thermostat on 78 degrees but we also have 3 Vornado air circulators. We have one that covers both the living/dinning room and the last two are in the kitchen and bedroom. The house feels like it is pressurized with a cool 12mph breeze throughout the house and our bill is around $210 a month during July- Sept. We got rid of our Central Air system years ago. Window units run MUCH MUCH cheaper than Central and you can turn off any units to any rooms that are not in use. We have a large home but only need to cool part of the house since there are only two of us now. We are saving about $90 a month compared to our Central air system.
paul marchese get a nest thermostat. You can download an app and program it with your phone. Whenever you suspect your wife has turned it down you can change it while you are anywhere with your phone. Just don’t reveal the magicians secret. Also I know it can work because I have tricked my parents who want to keep the house at 75 in the summer cause they get too cold. If you really want to get fancy set up the nest somewhere she can’t find it or reach it and get an old thermostat with batteries so she thinks she has control but in reality its a fake. Placebo effect.
wait, the people saying they set it to 70-80 that to me is like having the daggon heat on when its 100 degrees out😩 maybe i just dont understand this stuff lmao
Hello, my temperature is about 81 degrees. It's a little too hot for me but when I turn the thermostat down about one or two degrees. It will stay on for about 30 mins or the thermostat will go up about two or three degrees. Now, my a/c is running nonstop. I constantly have to keep adjusting the thermostat. I'm in Texas and it's too hot to keep adjusting the thermostat. What can I do? I have an upstairs and downstairs. I have three fans going plus the ceiling fan just to keep cool. I have a Honeywell battery-powered thermostat. I always put fresh batteries in once a month.
put it on a temperature and leave it alone. constantly changing the temperature will result in the unit running almost all the time. Keep all the registers in each room open. Shutting registers and doors confuses the thermostat. Close drapes, shutters etc. I know that most people like light coming in but in southeast Texas, that just doesn't work in the summer. I live in Houston and i Keep my thermostat on 78 all the time. It runs for a few minutes, then it cuts off. Constant running will cause freeze over. Running fans will cause the "feel-like" temperature to go down as much as 5 degrees. So since mine is set at 78 and I am running fans in the room that i am in, the effective temperature is 73. I have to adjust it to 79 at night because it's uncomfortably cold. Running fans only affect you if you're in that particular room, so leaving a fan on in a room that you are not in just moves the air around and is not good to you.
Yesterday it was 105 degrees. I set the thermostat at 80 degrees. During the hottest part of the day the a/c cycled on for about 14 minutes and 7 minutes off. Will that run cycle put too much stress on the ac? I own a Bryant Model 577C-A.
I wouldn't be concerned about it. Systems are designed to 95 degrees and below. So higher than that and your system will work harder. Sounds like you're sized just fine.
I live with two women. And they refuse to understand how an air conditioner works. I like to keep the AC set at 74. But on really hot days of course the indoor temp will rise above that. So I’ll come home and the the temp in the house maybe a say 76. The women here will set the AC on 70. I try to tell them that all that does is make the AC work harder without lowering the temp. For some reason they don’t get that. And we fight for an hour until they finally give up. Not saying all women do this. Iknow better. But I get so tired of arguing with them.

I need my question answer please i dnt wanna a 2 or 3 hundred bill my ac wasnt working so the maintenance guy put antfreeze but he touch the thermostat i had it set wgere ut comes on nd then shuts off now i dnt remember wht temperature thats. Please help
My ac unit was reset by accident. I used to have it set at 77 and at 79 is when it would turn back on. I just don’t know how to set it back to that? Can you please help me? In other words I had it set 2 degrees higher than my set temp at 77 so it would turn OFF at 77 but turn back on when temp in house would reach 79 and I really want to set it back like that! Does anyone know where is the setting that I need to do please?
Thermostats really run on time and not temperature. If you set your thermostat at 77 your unit should come on just before the temperature displayed is 78. That is why you can look at you thermostat and will still be running when both the internal temperature is 77 and you have the thermostat set for 77. Do a youtube search on "how do thermostats work."
@@JerrlEvans thanks but I already fixed it. I called the AC people and I got it back to a 2 degree difference like I had it. I have it set on 77. It turns off at 77 and back on when it hits 79. 👍🏻
I have a 2 story home, I set my upstairs to 78, my downstairs is set to 76 or 75, is that the best way to set them? also, my outside unit sweats to ware there is water constantly around the unit...Is that normal?

It was blowing out hot air so I changed out the fan, the motor, capacitor and thermostat to digital. After all of this money I spent my home is still hot during the day at 80 degrees but at night it gets ice cold at 74 degrees. I dont understand why during the day its blowing hot but at night it blows ice cold. Please help
Why replace all those things without verifying they are bad? Something like a capacitor can easily be checked with a cheap meter.... as well as thermostat, and fan...
I know how you can be wrong. My girl sets the A/C at 67, I had a knee surgery and the cold makes it hurt and gets kind of numb. How can I make the thermostat look like it's at 67 but feels like 70?...

My house says 81 and I got it on 60 it go as low as 50... but when on 50 it still be like 78 do I need a new unit I only been her my 2nd summer I assume it was new they installed it after I moved in
You should never turn your thermostat down that low as it can damage your central air unit because you are over working the unit. You should not cut it down any lower than 65. It's never going to reach that temperature if it's really hot out anyway. I think 73 or 74 is a perfect setting but some people like it freezing and I don't like it that cold.
Really the dial should only be a 20 degree differential from the temperature outside (example if it's 90 outside your thermostat shouldnt be at less than 70 but NEVER below 65)
@@sl4983 he’s obviously referring to the fact that it’s extremely hot in Louisiana during the summer months. I agree! I live in Florida and the summers can be unbearable. Same here. Maybe you can help me to understand something. Some people will turn the temperature up/down depending on the season. I believe if you do that the unit will have to work harder to get to the desired temperature and nonstop. My unit will shut itself on/off when it gets the the temperature I like.

I have a clock with a builtin thermometer I got the clock sitting on top of my toilet.the clock read 73°F in my bathroom in my bedroom.”
I, got a standing fan I put my fan in the doorway to my bathroom, to blow that cold air into my bedroom!!
Good feedback!
Thanks for your feedback!
Do you think older ages prefer a warmer temp? Thanks. Also, does this mean that seniors should be getting more sun?
can you explain more about being EMF sensitive and how that affects this?
@@sl4983 - *Answer:*
*Q.* Do you think older ages prefer a warmer temp?
*A.* During the day, yes. But at night, you want to go lower.... See the above suggestions.
*Q.* Does this mean that seniors should be getting more sun?
*A.* YES, you need to be in the sun more because as you get older, your 'Internal Battery' gets weaker. By charging, you will digest better, and other functions will get better.... Only ONE problem.... When Radiation Decays, it will create havoc in "older" body. That is why & how I invented The Wonder Bracelets !!!
Wow, everyone must be cold blooded. I'm uncomfortable at 74. We keep ours at 70-72 in Florida, year round.
I can't even imagine using 78 or above in the hot South East Texas summers! I'll have to accept whatever the increase is for my electric bill, to stay at 74-75.🙂
Cathy B 🤷♂️ I keep at 73
Get some ceiling fans, 78 is fine with the fan on.
I don’t have a thermostat I just wanted to know 78F ( 25.5C ) is a bit to hot in my opinion same with most of you in the comment section agree
Although it feels nice and cool at around 74-75F ( 23.3C - 23.8 C ) I am comfortable until it gets to 76F ( 24.4 C ) with good air circulation and humidity.
July 2019 Avg Hi: 83° Avg Lo: 64° .July 2018
Avg Hi: 88° Avg Lo: 68°.
The report also shows how many hours the unit ran. We set at 78 days and 73 at night, its very comfortable. Right now at 3: PM it's 104 deg. outside. I'm in southern California.
great info! thank you so much
Brother, I can’t thank you enough for this video. Greetings me from DC!!
My home stays between 68-69 degrees all year around.
In the winter I'll have it to 68 during the day, and 58 at night.
During the summer it's usually 75 during the day and 65-60 at night.
❄️☃️😱
Biggest draw on your electric bill is the ac, I do exactly as he says 84/78 using a wifi controlled thermostat save allot of money so far and I help the environment by not running the unit so hard. Just do it!
Your ac does not. Effect the environment. Global warming does that.
That is me
84 when you're at home along with some electric fans. Most people will be fine. Just tough it out a little bit more.
We keep ours at 63 in summer. Don’t know if heat pump would be able to do this.
I feel like 74 is a good temp.
For the summer couldn’t agree less but not winter that would be 74F summer for me and
66F winter for me
So what you're saying is the higher you set your temperature during the summer the more you save? I want my AC to run but it shouldn't be running more than 30 minutes at a time right? I'm trying to avoid any high electric bill so far I've been lucky but I want to make sure I keep it that way. I tried to keep it on auto and around 72 to 75° give or take. 🤷
Ŵht temp do i put my ac that it gets to a centain nd shuts off than bck on again i live in a apt
I have an old-school thermostat what should I put it on to cool the house and then it shut off automatically so it will not keep running
It depends on what you are comfortable at. Try 75 for a while and see how that feels. If you need it cooler try 73. I know some people who run it at 68! I also know people who keep it at 80 or 82. So it really just depends on you.
Thank you for your reply to my question
Yep depends on the house...my house is a 90s era 2 story home...It feels good on 72 because the air gotta flow upstairs also...So if I was to set it on 75 it takes forever to kicks on then the upstairs becomes hot quick lol
Isn't it true that, the only difference in cast to a lower temp is the initial cost? Once the home reaches the temp, to maintain it is no more than a few degrees lower. To maintain a temp, cost no more, regardless if it's set at 74 or 72. The trick is leaving the T-stat along.
Am I the only one that keeps their thermostat set at 70 year around? These temperature settings everyone is talking seems kind of odd to me.
thats way too hot i keep mine at 68. you can always put more layers on but you cant take more off.
Do not like it to be to cold, so what temperature should the air conditioner be?
Off
77F
I recommend you get perimenopause ever.
Should the AC fan be on "Auto" or "On"?
78 degrees on a south Texas summer I don’t think so. I’m still wanting to find my perfect temperature and I think 74 degrees is good. I’m in 73 right now but I think 74 would be perfect.
74 is perfect!
I have a tcl air conditioner and it keeps shutting off at 70 and restarts at 79.
I tell everyone I am saving money on gas for my car because I work from home. I didn't think about needing to keep the AC on all day for the same reason
Any one glad they live in the conservative south. We don’t have to worry about electricity and it is pretty cheap due to all the dams we built. 150.00 a month and leave thermostat on 69
I have mine set at 90f during the summer time cause temperatures here can get up to 100f.
That is unusually high. If you don’t like it to be to cold, I would recommend 78- 80.
I recommend 70-76F mainly 74-76F because 70F isn’t easy without air con
@@Itz_camz-YT At night I prefer to keep my house at 69F.
I have no air con but if I did then I would keep it 69f at night but because I don’t it’s around 70-78F at night
You are king 👑. My man. 🙌🏽
Mine is at 67 year round.
What if you have pets you can leave them in the HOT HOME
Ok my wife keeps lowering the temp and I want to hook up a trick thermostat how do I do it
paul marchese get a nest thermostat.

78 summer and 68 winter
@@foxfamilyhvac Thank you letting me know.
should I turn off the AC when I am out for vacations?
I wouldnt turn it off but set it much higher than you would if you were home. Keeps the humidity out of the house so you don't get mold.
