I’m getting dressed to go for a walk even though we received 7 additional inches of snow Sunday and temps this morning were -9 it’s 13 and sunny so out I’ll go my winter sown jugs are covered . Good insulation for all plants I suppose may send you photo while I’m out it’s a wonderland for sure. Yes get outdoors it makes us happy⛄️. Have fun.
Those 4 containers will provide you with spectacular colour. We're all waiting for the spring. I'm used to popping in and out of my garden,but although we have no snow yet, I'm confined indoors. I suppose a good book should be on the agenda😂💞👏❄️
@gardeningonthewestforkwith8994 it's the weather. I know I'm constantly mentioning it. Even hubby, who's not a gardening fan,says don't go outside today. Even if I wrap up warm, nothing can be done in the garden. My health is fine thank you. No worries about yours,I gather?💕
I did winter sowing of larkspur last year and it was very successful. The hummingbirds loved feeding on the larkspur. Going to plant seeds today, thanks for the inspiration!

@ Oh my goodness, so many! Got to keep the hummers happy! Bee balm, Vermillionaire (cuphea), Crocosmia, Salvia, Zinnia, Columbine, Fuchsia hanging baskets, Lantana, Penstemon, Foxglove, Cardinal flower, Red hot poker, Nepata, Lupine, Clematis, Day lily. Witch hazel - has yellow flowers that bloom in the winter. We have Anna's hummingbirds all year long here in western WA and the Rufous return in March. Buddleia, honeysuckle, Turtlehead, Canna, Chilean Fire plant, Scarlet Runner bean. Red flowering currant - a native and early spring bloomer. The hummingbirds follow the blooms up the west coast all the way to Canada.
I can’t sew in the winter because first of all I have a very tiny two bedroom house and there are no windows except the south windows and I need those for warmth and light. I don’t want to block them. I have two German shepherds and they would not leave the plants alone to get the sun they need. Also what if winter is so long that I have to leave them in the house for weeks longer than I planned on, I have no space it just doesn’t make sense to winter sow… I don’t have the room. I don’t have the windows and I’m really really do not have the ability to keep those plants growing if winter goes into April.
@@lauriepolden6594 Laurie well you definitely just will have to watch gardening videos in areas from California where they have sun and warmer climates this time of year or Monty Don from England wow just love his programs. Two shepherds , I bet you spoil them like my cats😹. I hope you are having a sunny day it helps in winter .
