@Foxshirakami The Down Picker is James Hetfield as well. It wasn't until he got older and started to lose some of his chops that he started to up pick.
This shit is why thrash has always been my favorite flavor of metal. Chunking grooves that keep your head rocking, from a bob to a bang and back. This video just reminded me why I love The Big Four still after all these years, too.
Same here, Thrash Metal is the ultimate genre of metal imo. One of the best things about Thrash is how diverse it is, there are several subgenres of Thrash which means basically an endless supply of old school and modern thrash bands to discover. Not sure if you're into the modern Thrash bands, but there's some incredible newer bands out there that most people don't even know about. One of which is the band in my profile pic, the French Progressive Thrash Metal band called Arcania. Arcania has 2 albums called "Dreams Are Dead" and "Sweet Angel Dust", both albums are bangers from start to finish, technical, melodic, and progressive.
Love your Harley, man. I got my EX-76 about two years ago, best decision I ever made. I swapped out the pickups to Seymour Duncan Dimebag signature pickups and put a Kahler trem on it. Sounds absolutely heavenly.
I never comment on videos(well not a lot anyways) but I've been working all night and the thrash has inspired me to give you cheers and say hell yeah bro!!!!!!!
Nice! You just made a badass recording with a couple Harley Bentons. This should be an eye opener for people suffering from brand worship. Nice job man! 🤘
Enjoyed it. Since it's all you I can't pick a style. They all sound good but has your touch to it etc. It was all like a lesson in technical thrash. Very nice.
Thanks for watching everybody, which style was your favourite?
Harmonies make everything better
Easily the Galloper!
Speed Demon🤘🏻
The Galloper je sve🤭🤘
The Speed Demon and Megaman are really cool ! Frist and last for me, great video Pete 🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻
You forgot the " occasional acoustic for the feels"...
Haha yeah! *Fight Fire With Fire intensifies*
Going through the acoustic phase right now
I love that so much...
Battery!
It was in Sodom's Tired and Red
No mids, all gain, SLAYER!
Haha! I may or may not have borrowed that phrase from you for this video :)
What's funny is, Slayer doesn't use as much gain as people think they do. Also, they use tons of mids. Slayer's probably my favorite metal tone.
we were there. I would have never used the tone knob in my guitars if not for you
@@jaceydurland9098 Something slightly less related is they use a very tight noise gate.
as a thrash metal addict, I APPROVE!
Thanks! :)
Fellow thrashers unite
@@peteplaysmusic Please make video about Groove-metal !
Please make one about the Nu-Metal/Post-Grunge phase we all once had
The Down Picker + the galloper + all gain = the most headbang inducing riffs of all time.
The Down Picker is how Metalcore being popular lol
Anyone got names of the songs for the said riffs
@@jessecarpenter6434he broke the riffs but I heard master of puppets and the last was Holy Wars
@Foxshirakami The Down Picker is James Hetfield as well. It wasn't until he got older and started to lose some of his chops that he started to up pick.
Those first two examples are basically just Slayer in a nutshell and I loved it, great vid man
Haha yeah, The Whammy King is a nod to Kerry and Jeff :)
Galloper and slow & spooky sound kinda Slayer - ish too
Almost the entire vid is Slayer.
Ol’ kerry loves his whammy bar
You're absolutely correct. I gotta say, I ain't mad at it.

Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarten?
@@Internetuser435 LOL! wrong big 4 but I loved those too.
@@davedixon2167 Lol, alright
And that's cool
The Whammy King + Slow & Spooky = all you need is Slayer
Close but you need that speed king riff in there!!
@@THRASHMETALFUNRIFFS and a kerry king style solo which sounds like shit and you even fcked it up on tape.
@@THRASHMETALFUNRIFFS I feel speed king sounds more like modern Sylosis riffs
Can’t forget the galloper
and the speed demon
My two favorite styles were the "slow and spooky" and the "no mids, all gain". Great video, dude!
Thanks! :)
Slayer fan then?
Same
Your intro picking on, “The Wah Ripper” reminds me of the song the band played during the big fight scene in the Crow at the loft. 🦅
And this is why thrash sounds so good
the transition between "definitely not metallica" and "the down picker" was pretty sick
1:25 literally A7X in a nutshell (even though they don’t do Thrash) also the lick sounds like Burn It Down lol. Nice video Pete, keep it up ❤
Not quite literally
"definitely not metallica" ahhh so it must be ...........
MELATTICA!!!
Spot on. I could identify the bands you were emulating for the most part 🤘🏻
You make it look effortless. My wrist was fatigued just watching 😆
Haha thanks! Gotta love those all down picked riffs :)
@@peteplaysmusic you're welcome. Thanks for taking the time to reply. 🤘🏻
I too think thrash metal is very cool and very close to my heart
Rules all other “genres”. And the fashion is pretty easy.
Real nice... Very Metallica inspired, with some touches of Megadeth towards the end. Good inspirations for thrashers!
Thanks! :)
More Slayer inspiration in there than Metallica and Megadeth.
@@pixelbasedlifeforms agreed
@@pixelbasedlifeforms Because Slayer is the thrash

The whammy KING... I see what you did there and I'm all for it!
Love your Harley, man. I got my EX-76 about two years ago, best decision I ever made. I swapped out the pickups to Seymour Duncan Dimebag signature pickups and put a Kahler trem on it. Sounds absolutely heavenly.
That open string rythm on Megaman is very nice! Great vid, long live thrash metal
Thanks! :)
The down picker has a real distinctive sound and feel
The Wah Ripper - nice double nod to Kirk!
As a fan of thrash and a thrash guitarist in my youth, well, that was really enjoyable. Thanks.
I love it. You're an inspiration to pick up the guitar. The editing between the clips are an art too
Thanks! :)
The megaman LMAO u can ever hear holy wars in the riff
I never comment on videos(well not a lot anyways) but I've been working all night and the thrash has inspired me to give you cheers and say hell yeah bro!!!!!!!
Haha thanks, I appreciate it! :)
I would see this band live every time.
this is basically all fire, love it
Thanks! :)
Like all! It's like a journey back in time when i started making Metal!
...and "Decade of Aggression" came out... 🤘
greetz from germany
Joe
Thanks for watching! :)
Nice! You just made a badass recording with a couple Harley Bentons. This should be an eye opener for people suffering from brand worship. Nice job man! 🤘
You just can't get enough of that Harley Benton Explorer, well me neither😅
Best reason to buy a harley benton I ever saw
That was awesome man “definitely not Metallica “ gave me a giggle 😂
Buddy that picking hand is on point. Great stuff
delicious skill brada
Yeah, that’ll start a mosh pit, head-banging and horns throwing. 🤘🏾🤘🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
BROOOO THE MATSER OF PUPPETS AND HOLY WARS BROKEN RIFFS FUCKS MY MIND UP
Megaman being a mix beetween holy wars and wake up dead...
so fucking cool
The Whammy King - I see what you did there
I enjoyed all of that. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to watch again because those riffs fuckin' killed.
Thanks! :)
For sure Speed Demon + Down Picker
So fucking awesome
The low and spooky is so Slayaaaaaaa 🤘🏽
Enjoyed it. Since it's all you I can't pick a style. They all sound good but has your touch to it etc. It was all like a lesson in technical thrash. Very nice.
The galloper got my vote. I’m still trying to figure it out and you nailed it man
Tight right hand bro!
Thanks! I've been working on that a bit lately, always good to brush up on old school Thrash riffs for down picking/rhythm practice :)
galloping is just pure energy, love that NWOBHM vibe and the speediness
Slow and Spooky definitely sounds like Slayer.
Speed Demon reminded me of Sylosis, the groove was palpable
Stained humanity, right?
Syolosis is the greatest on the planet.
Man some of these sound so gooood so crisp i wish he made them into full songs
If I had to pick one section that is most "Thrash" to me, it's "No Mids All Gain" Exodus style!!
i feel so recognised in this video! :D
Finally, the best Metal Genre! Thx Pete!!!
holy shit such a banger! adding this to my "racing" playlist 🤘🏻
1:35 This is definitely not False Ideals by Xentrix, nice!
Wah ripper and all gain are my favs👌
all the above please lol ...and justice for all still remains as my fave thrash album 💪
Slow & spooky: definitely not Slayer 😂 great job really liked this video!
Thanks :)
The galloper and harmonizer are my jam
I was wonder where my style would show up until the the down picker played. Well done!
Thanks! :)
Sick Dude!! Very nice Styles! I love the Galloper! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Megaman aka Hangar 18 lol that was sick dude
Excellent study and compilation.
0:55 casually blends master of puppets and through the never into one song.
This is the first thing I listened to this morning 🤣🤣🤣🤌🤌🤌🃏🌭 Made my fkn day
🤘😈🤘
Really nice playing & seeing you bring it a Harley Benton made it all the better!!! Great tone!!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed them all!
Thanks! :)
This is something that I didn't expect today. Incredible. All of them are great
aka: evile, pantera, iced earth, metallica, metallica again, maiden?, slayer, metallica yet again, heathen, testament, megadeth.
great job emulating the styles as always!
that no mids all gain sound is my dream sound
This is every reason why I love Thrash 🤘🏻
I love how all these riffs are melting in creating one song.
2:05 ---- INTO THE PIT!!!!!!!
Very nice dude loved it 👌
Thanks! :)
The superior genre.
0:23 Kerry Kong solo be like
I love how you wore an ajfa shirt while doing megaman
That no mids, all gain section made me feel personally attacked LOL.
What it takes to make a thrash metal song. You nailed it, bro.
Awesome video idea! My fav was the Galloper or Slow and Spooky Slayer breakdown.
SICK my dude! Killer tone and killer chops!
"The Whammy King". Good codename for Kerry lol
That gallop riff crushes, cant not love a tight gallop thrash riff
Excellent, all my kind of guitar playing
The Down Picker and Slow & Spooky
Thank you for showing how scooping your mids completely cuts your guitar out of the mix
Even as a non-guitarist I got most of the references, but please explain "The Law Maker"!
Anthrax - I am The Law (Based on Judge Dredd) :)
Your picking is absolute beast
Thrash metal guitarist be like "major scale? never heard of it"
Haha! They know all 4 of the scales, Natural Minor, Harmonic Minor, Dorian and Phygian. There are no others ;)
@@peteplaysmusic HA! Just add the diminished and you've got early Tampa Bay death metal.
I loved the megaman, the megaman x soundtrack is absolutely flawless
what track is the riff from
The megaman here sounds like holy wars lol
2:04 INTO THE PIT!
Wonderful retrospective on Megatallica and Metadeth. 😁😁😁😁
Now this is my cup of tea...
Thank you, Pete!
The whammy king... I see what you did there 😎
Man, you just "destroyed" that guitar!! Super nicely done.
2.05 best riff \m/ nice job ;)
Pretty pretty spot on. Speed demon becz feels gud maaan👍
rocking them harley bentons!
3 minutes of Pete and thrashy riffs was needed, now if we could just get an album..
This is incredible.
I liked the galloper the most.
The Galloper gives me chicken skin everytime. Rock on!
