I'm pretty sure 60,000 of these views are from my sister trying to get my nephew to calm down and fall asleep. This is the only thing that works every time.
She has effortless control over her voice and i'm just asdfghjkl over the beauty of it.
"She knew they were destined to become sacred roadkill on the way". That is the most beautiful, insightful, glorious thing I have ever heard. "She named the baby elvis to make up of the royalty he lacked". Oh. It makes my heart skip a beat. It is just so beautiful. Why can't all music be like this?
Been listening to this album for 15 years and I still chuckle every time on the "she thought about this irony..." part. This song is just perfect.
A true poet, our Regina is. :)
I personally love how the last note sounds a little unsure, like she's really thinking about the lyrics.
I always thought by roadkill she meant having sex with someone she really isnt into. Thats what the term roadkill is used. At least to my knowledge. On which case its so sad...
I get the feeling that this song is about a mother lamenting bringing a child into the world. The "cold Campbell's from the can" seems to refer to half-assed or cheap meals and the line about playing with matches seems to refer to creating life (life being the spark of flame) but he, the father of her child, isn't there anymore. She calls herself an asshole for assuming her child would be special and later on having to "blow out" his dreams and wishes while simultaneously wanting another kid because she can't see a life outside of being a mother anymore. Anyways that's just my interpretation. A beautiful and heartbreaking song however you look at it.
I love how she can make something so vague in to something beautiful.
Ashley De La Cruz gives mystery to her songs :)
And after listening to this song, I will never take the rain for granted again.
The line "And it was raining cats and dogs outside of her window, and she knew they were destined to become sacred roadkill on the way," is so beautiful to me...
Almost in tears right now. Such a gorgeous song. I learned how to play this song on the piano. I just need more practice
Good for you! Keep going! :)
I'm a die-hard Regina fan and I've somehow never heard this song before.... I love it!
regina is almost too talented.... she must have only been 19 when she made this. at the age of 20, i am in awe.
I'm pretty sure that the line is "thinkin about poodles & puddles," cause you know... raining cats & DOGS... poodles & puddles.. haha. If it is really "puddles & puddles" I'm gonna be very sad because that has been one of my favorite lyrics ever. Lol.
This comment made me smile so big I totally hear "poodles and puddles"
Just sitting here and trying to decipher what's written in Braille upon my skin.....
Oh God Regina, gorgeous...!!!!!
the mini bridge! makes me cry all the time. I don't know why just felt something every time I played it. very relaxing!
This song is beautiful...I love her old style. I love all of her music, but her old music was so much more meaningful.

This song hits right at the heart. Regina makes me experience things I wouldn't have to experience anyway, warning me. Touching. Right. At. The. Heart. And. The. Brain. Mostly.

Words Went Blind
I wish that I could solve with pen
What I could never understand
How the reason for the words went blind
Until what was so simple then
Became so blurred with time.

this is a beautiful song
I love it
I imagine a girl and a boy who were both the second choices, so in loneliness they comforted eachother, even in knowing it will almost certainly end in disaster. They didn't love each other, they just wanted a shoulder to cry on, however a baby was born of them so a shotgun wedding between them happened. As the child grew the boy and girl still never loved eachother, they fought every night, but stayed together for Elvis. After years the boy died, and the girl was left in her old age, alone, wondering could she start all over. And despite living for years, finally starting to find herself.
that's so cute!
I always thought it was "Listening to the sound of heaven, she kept thinking " not "Listening to the sound of heaven shaking, thinking"
This song is amazing, and I could connect because my cousin was 16 and pregnant, I felt sympathy for her

@att0006 By "This is a stupid song" do you mean that you are too simple to appreciate it?
I know what it is to play with matches and end up with braille on your arms... same with blades and railroads.
Very nice video :))
i don't think you can find a physical copy of the album (look for it, i might be wrong) but you can get it on iTunes.

It's just he's not around to play along yeah I'm still an asshole playing with candles blowing out wishes blowing out dreams, oh so true
@mmaarrccy thanks pal :)
This reminds me of my brother and his girlfriend
what font is it?
Can someone explain this song to me?
Samantha Anderson I think it's about a mother who's life fell before her eyes.
A single mother thinks back at her life choices. She seems to regret most of it and she and her previous partner seem to have had destructive habits, which probably contributed to their separation.
