Fun idea. Most classes have something going for them. The ones I find hardest to pick up are revenant and ranger. I absolutely adore engineer, elementalist and mesmer. Warrior and guardian are just easy fun. Thief and necro when you like being a baddie.

Went necro as my main for when I first played, now swapping to guardian for a bit. As you're right, it's just fun!

Honestly it wasn't that bad idea for trying out the classes. Just instead of going into a PvP match, you should try out the training dummies in the pvp lobby to test the skills. Don't dive too deep into the builds just yet, as the skills slightly change depending on the game mode and PvE works very differently.
Another way to do it is to use the level 80 boost if you have one. You can try out the level 80 character in one designated level 80 map and if you don't confirm your boost and and delete that test character you can repeat it.
Still I would NOT recommend actually using the boost on your first character, since there is a lot of stuff you actually need to learn as a new player and the fairly quickly leveling phase helps you learning all of this bit by bit in a slower pace.

For me, character testing in PVP is down to having played before, having a max character and playing through multiple expansion. No matter what game you play, using a boost on your first character is never a good idea, as it diminishes what the game is, and ruins the learning curve of the game. Training dummies can work for some, but when you're looking for the overall feel of a character, action tends to be the stronger option. Gotta admit though... I did not realises you could boost a character and just not confirm it. I am gonna remember that one

It's worse if you decide to start with a class you have not previously used before either. Might as well be brand new 🤣🤣

@@DyingLegacy i Was playing before as a warrior and my new class is mesmer, man I love mesmer absolute phantastque class. The thief is BTW absolutely broken in wvw and pvp should be deleted from game
