    The funniest thing for me is the fact that the entire thing (while being almost sarcastically gloomy) ultimately produces quite a comfy outlook on existance.
    By constantly upping the ante of pessimistic philosophy it is possible to arrive at a weird acceptance of it all. For me the process went something like this:
    1. Assume the suffering inherent to life is so unbearable (or the causes of it so fundamental) that elimination of sufferes IS neccessary.
    2. Therefore we should dispose of ourselves, witch can actually be done quite easily (via thermonuclear war for example)
    3. ...but that wouldn't be compassionate enough to everybody potentially following us.
    4. Therefore we also need to destroy the very possibility of all life everywhere ever.
    5. Life (as we know from personal experience) eventually arises from the very base of the universe - inorganic matter.
    6. Therefore no amount of destruction except somehow destroying the entire universe wouldn't be enough.
    7. But then we remember that the universe is already very slowly commiting omnicide by entropy: its called The Heat Death. And as far as we can tell this is completely inevitable and will accomplish the great negation all on its own.
    8. Therefore we can simply live on knowing that even if pessimists are correct, their morbid wishes will eventually be granted anyway. Also, while we wait for it to happen, we might as well do our best to enjoy life as it is (juuuust in case it is not THAT bad after all :3).
    Peace in acceptance of human mortality and of universal mortality in one fell swoop. Cosmic nihilism evolving smoothly into some kind of futuristic zen with a hint of absurdism.
    And if you have read this far, Freak, thank you very much for your efforts! You are doing God's work. Sometimes we need a reminder of how weird the world and our own minds can be. Wherever your interests bring you next, I'll be excited to follow.

    • @master2497
      @master2497 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I'm not sure you can so easily get to 5 and 6 from 4. It's very possible that the path from inorganic matter to abiogenesis and then to intelligent life is supremely unlikely. If that's the case, then I think it makes more sense to assume 4 applies to "all life we know of", not "all life that could potentially exist". Plus, even if you did get all the way down to 8, I'd say ending suffering sooner rather than later is generally better, without factoring in externalities. If we had a universe killing button, I don't think any true pessimist (if any even exist) would say "Well don't press it yet, maybe things will get better, and the universe will die in quadrillions of years anyway, so there's no rush." To the pessimist, there absolutely WOULD be a rush, the suffering is happening right now.

    • @tannheizer
      @tannheizer 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @master2497 Good points actually. Can't really comment on possible alternatives to life as we currently understand it but I suppose we can agree that strictly speaking shortening the time of suffering may have weight even in an infinite universe. And what's more this may be even funnier. If the matter is indeed urgent, than the imperative for space exploration and moving further up Kardashev scale holds. So now we have a beautiful case of unity of opposites:
      If we love life and sapience, we must grow and advance beyond our current limitations to promote and celebrate them.
      If we hate them, we must do exactly the same in order to destroy them.
      So it kinda looks like both perspective ultimately seek further advancement of humanity for the foreseeable future. The fact that they do it for opposite reasons just adds a cherry on top of this ridiculous thought experiment.

    18:00 Ok I have to be that guy;
    There is no evidence whatsoever that Nietzsche even had syphilis. That is a myth. Syphilis creates very obvious skin lesions and those would have been very discernable if the disease had developed enough to cause severe brain damage. He had no signs of a physiological or neurological ailment of any kind. Also Nietzsche was not in his "old age". He was in his early 40s when his nervous breakdown occurred.
    The channel Essential Salts has a video which goes into much more detail about this.
    It almost sounds like an urban legend to say that Nietzsche was "driven mad by his own philosophy", but frankly, I am unwaveringly confident that that is actually what happened, and I've discussed in detail how exactly I believe this occurred in a couple videos (I forget which ones tbh lol). Basically he philosophized himself into a quite literal catatonia in much the same way that we see in extreme cases of dissociative disorders.

    These videos were the best crack I’ve ever smoked, as a professional skitzo all this made sense, and like my one comment on the last video about it correlating biblically, I will again state that this is all biblically and etymologically sound regardless of the things you stated towards the end of the video. Ive learned a lot of things between this video and last and I would post comments through the video of connections I see but im too tired tonight, I do leave y’all with one Bible verse 2 Peter 3 9-10:
    9. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
    10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
