I feel like Airsofters should make a kinda "official" group to give feedback to companies and try fix issues in the Airsoft community themselves if possible. For example: • Promoting Airsoft and explain what it is so more new players come in. TH-cam is sure a nice platform for this and it is being done but it could be done even better. Also, all the debate about gun rights in the US is affecting Airsoft and it shouldn't be because they're not real firearms and don't kill, maybe would help to clear that up for some people that have no idea what Airsoft really is. • Make your own inventions. Try to address cheating with new (and old) players. Maybe come up with a new mechanism that prevents cheating? If someone or the group members can unite and start brainstorming inventions themselves that would be great, maybe even later talk to a company to help make the invention a reality. What about BBs that have non-staining color to easily tell when someone has been shot for example? • Treat it more as a sport than just hobby and push that idea. That way people might take Airsoft more seriously and not just "People shooting themselves with toy guns", which it kinda is *but* what is Basketball but a bunch of people playing with a round piece of rubber with air in it? Got more ideas but I don't remember them all at the moment haha. Just my two cents, I'm not currently a player but I'm looking to get into the *sport* and noticed a few problems with it so just wanted to share my thoughts.
What Makes A Good Beginner AEG? My opinion: #1 a cost of 200-250 with iron sights. #2 long lasting reliability over out of the box performance. (transforms in to loner gun later on) #3 carbine length sooting sub 350 fps for in and out door.
+Dutchb4k You should of made this video, this guys ranting on more about other players an the "What if's" then the actual weapons? Like WTF, a 25 minute video with 5 mins of the title's content.
Just my opinion, but 150-200 is also a price bracket that has a lot of great options for beginners. I ran a $100 lancer tactical gen. 1 mk18 with a ver. 2 gearbox for a while and it worked just fine, even after I was a more experienced player it worked well as a backup gun.
This is actually a really interesting topic. i feel like there has been a huge influx of beginner aegs. I think its almost more fun to watch companies battle it out in the low end market then it is to see all the high-end stuff coming out.
I'm so glad that he's addressing out of the box viability when it comes to force and velocity. When I was first getting into airsoft in the early 00's there were far too many lax fields, and high powered young sniper bros launching .32 and heavier downrange with m220 springs OUT OF THE BOX because it blew everyone away. AEGs in their essence, much like E says, run lower than their 450-550 fps rifles, however 325-375 should be factory standard with an adjustable fps. Not enough cheaper adjustable fps rifles out there imo. Great video, I love the Tippmann personally, I'm waiting on one (Commando CQB) right now for a cheap alternative to my LMG loadout. Great gun honestly.
That being said. What I think makes a good beginner AEG. 1.) Cheap ($100-$180) $200 is too much for 90% of beginners. 2.) Durable 3.) Ready to go out of the box. Include batteries and smart chargers and a fore grip or some other accessory. 4.) Durable again.
I ordered a cyma ak74 wolverine. I am going to change to a cqb spring with help of some my local field people ( the do spring changes for free at my field especially for the new players)
I always see people bring the new gun to the field always ended up failing the chrono.. it's sad to see them walk away from the chrono station head down and disappointed. You guys really made sense... thanks for bringing up this topic. If we want people to enter the sport I hope things like this can be looked at by the Airsoft companies. Salute!
I looked for three things when putting together N00b gun lists, metal internals, aftermarket support, and no gas/co2 requirement. My personal first game saw me using a Cyma Full metal M3 shotgun, I had a hell of lot of fun!
So heres my thoughts on beginner AEGs: (Note: im German, Airsoft guns are semi-only here if theyre above 0,5 joule) 1: Make sure the thing doesnt jam. (as i said its semi only here) Thats doable by good Mosfets and stuff like that, but ive seen microswitches jam and CYMA AKs without any of that run fine, so do it right. 2: Build it in a way that i can take it apart without having to worry about breaking it. Cheap guns will break at some point. Especially AEGs. I had an S&T M4 when i started and ended up returning it pretty soon, as you need to use a lot of force to get ANYTHING out of there, and the receiver bended on opening it once. 3: Id rather have SOME decent parts and SOME cheap ones instead of half-assed everything. (Hello S&T again, your microswitch sucks, your receivers suck, and your inner barrel is too short, and you top it off with a halfassed gearbox, sure it sounds like you did everything, but if everything sucks just dont) 4: Rifles shouldnt have more than 1,5 joule. If you want more youll need a nicer gun to use that energy anyway as youre going into DMR territory, or just go for a spring sniper or something, but those are a topic on their own. (This is basically E houses point on Field legality) IMHO: Dont buy AEGs below 200 Euro. Get a pistol if thats your budget. You can start off with it and look at the hobby, if you want to stick to it, get a nicer AEG make the pistol your secondary.
Something of note as well is that here in the U.K., any full-auto airsoft gun that shoots over 375fps will land you 5 years in jail. So for the British market, beginners are extremely vulnerable to getting a hot gun out of the box.
my first gun was the cybergun famas evo when it first came out, they had no parts no magazines no nothing, sold that shit, quit for 2 years, got a cyma ak74 now im loving it
Thanks for making this video. I am very new to Airsoft and on a budget. Please make a similar video on other budget gear. My nephew already bought me a Lancer Tactical LT-06T-G2 M4 for a welcome to Airsoft gift. The first thing I bought for myself was a pair of ANSI Z87.1 compliant full seal goggles, but have no clue what I should do for the rest of my gear.
I got my CYMA CM.O31D for 60$ on sale from Evike 4 years ago and I've only had to open it up once, I've got a Krytac now but that CYMA is still my favorite
One thing that needs to be stressed are the types of plastics/polymers and their advantages and disadvantages, also polymer fiber density and why the polymers are high in it. Good polymers crack (G&G) bad plastics shatter (lancer tactical). Their is no excuse to use non-reinforced ABS, decent grade polymers are a lot cheaper than they used to be having sturdy and decently strong externals make a good selling point.
I think there is a difference between a beginner AEG and a budget AEG. You can be a beginner and buy a Umbrella Armory gun or be a advanced player and buy a combat machine. I think its more to durability and performance and longevity then just price.
A newer member of our team got a CYMA AK and i have to say … its shooting so damn fckin good … i already consider getting myself one … especially considering the price (230€ here in Germany) and I'm saying that while having a vfc 416 in my hands :D
If you got kids under 13 years of age. Get em a cm16 raider. Its 150 or so and its pretty darn good especially for kids. 14 or older get them a cm16 raider 2.0. About 190 close to 200 after tax. But really the cm16 raider is old but its good for the price its great for beginners and its not absolute crap and does a great job. Plus its an m4 and its pretty upgradable and modular.
I gotta say: everything the Classic Army Nemesis line represents: 1. 9mm bushing QCS billet Gearbox 2. Electronic Trigger Mosfet 3. 6.03 Tight Bore 4. Low Resistance Wire w/ Deans 5. An orange tip that has threads that can accommodate a suppressor so you don’t have to buy it aftermarket and maintain legality. 6. Sub 400 FPS velocity The only thing really left to do, if anything, is Rhop it if you’re okay with not having a stainless steel barrel. If you want to get technical: shim, correct AOE, replace the barrel with a stainless steel inner and rhop it. And suddenly you can go Toe to toe with most higher echelon guns. I’m tempted to pick one up instead of building a scratch SPR since you can snag em for sub $300. But I don’t want this old G&G to gather dust.
You're like the angry joe of airsoft. Subbed! You have a very valid point with customizability and compatibility, I'm looking for my first m4 and I want it to be robust, frankensteinable, something I can learn to tech on, and have it be compatible, last thing I need is to go black on ammo, borrow a mag from someone, and then have issues. Imma go through your vids and maybe you will have something I'm looking for that you have reviewed, meanwhile anyone have some suggestions?
I got my 1st M4 from Poland and it was 450fps out of the box my limit is 328fps but they had a down grade spring in the box that was m90 it is full metal. It's a specna arms SA-V13 quick change spring very good gun for €240 with 9.6 battery and charger but never used the charger ⚡🔥im a new player I had my m4 twenty min's I had the gearbox apart Everyone should know how to fix there stuff.
Interesting video. Great points for manufacturers and dealers about maximizing the new player experience to keep them coming back. But as someone getting ready to buy my first gun (I've been using rentals since December to get my feet wet) I find it disturbing and confusing. You imply that a gun with good "bang for the buck" (features for price) won't last. So an ARP9 (Mosfet and ETU for $210) or an Amoeba AM-005 (Mosfet, ETU, quick-change spring, and 6.03 barrel for $240) aren't a good choice for a beginner?
Thanks for helping me out with this. Im about to buy my first airsoft gun, a shotgun. My indoor arena doesnt allow full auto and a rifle might have too high of an FPS for it so im going with a shotgun for that.
I agree with most of what you are saying except for mosfets. I don't see anything bad with them except you take away the ability to go swimming with your aeg. But most people don't go swimming with aeg:s anyway. I bought a King Arms TWS as a back up for my Tippmann M4 (best airsoft gun ever, and you know it 😉) and I would rate the KA TWS a really solid beginners gun. I runs beutifully on a 11,1 lipo, has quick spring change and really good range and accuracy out of the box. And King Arms builds a long lasting gearbox, just check out their torture test videos.
Marcus Hillerström MOSFETS are certainly great, but I think my main point was that if you’re going to include them, they better be thoroughly tested. I see a lot of cheap MOSFETs become failure points, which I guess is why I said to not include it if it can’t be done right consistently. That said, the technology is getting cheaper and easier all the time so maybe I’m behind the curve!
E House - Gun Gamers That's a solid point, but I can't understand why it should be a problem. We had a guy making his own mosfets like five years ago that could handle a five cell lipo that he sold for 50 kr (aprox 6$) including shipping. And now, several years later, big manufacturers can't include a decent mosfet, it's ridiculous. Or lazy, I don't know.
In my country we don't use FPS anymore we look at joules ( stupid I know) but 90% of the guns are allowed at the fields in my country, you rarely have to put in a weaker spring... maybe price/quality is differant in the usa, but in my country if you want a quality gun you'll pay around €400,- I do realise that things are differant in the usa because little kids can play airsoft, and mostly parents pay for their guns, so I understand that parents don't want to pay to much for a gun because they don't know wether their kids will play airsoft for a long time... but in my country you start with rentals for the first 5 or so games before you buy your gun so when people decide they want to play airsoft they are problay want to play it for a long time because they have played a couple of times with rentals so they are less afraid to pay more for good quality... because kids in the usa problay mostly don't play for the guns themselves they will abuse it more, when it's your own money your more carefull... it's a differant world if it's your own money you invest...
I got a kwa sr7, I knew going in $250 was a tad pricey and a tad outdated for a beginner gun but I wanted something that would be sturdy as hell and not break, if anyone wants to give me any upgrade advice, I’m looking to eventually mod the internals, already planning to get a new inner barrel, wondering if any buckings would work with the 2gx hop up, and looking to eventually upgrade compression and motor.
IMO a true beginner gun should be the following: 1. cost for a true beginner gun should NOT exceed $150. Most beginners are kids or younger teens without much money. Making the guns more affordable makes the buyers want to buy more. 2. Majority of the fields in the US are under 400 (outdoor) or 350 (indoor). So $150 or less should get you those requirements out of the box with future upgrades open for later. 3. Reliability for $150 or less doesn't have to be perfect, but should last for at least a year with normal gameplay. 4. Smaller carbines or CQB styled guns should be cheaper than larger guns for ease of use for newer players and ease of use in indoor fields. Plus smaller guns use less materials so cost to make them should be cheaper. 5. The platform doesn't have to be fancy in design, but should be a better user friendly design. Function over form until you get around the $150 or higher range. 6. If the AEG does have a plastic gearbox, then it should have the ability to replace it with a metal gearbox once the user becomes more skilled and is ready for the upgrade. Right now, I own a plastic gearbox AEG, that I love the design, but the gearbox can't be replaced. And a bonus: STOP ADDING .12 gram bb's in the box. If you want to add in bb's, then add in bb's that most players will use. Those .12 junk balls will just tear up the gun.
Thanks for this video as I'm new to airsoft and still looking for which models will work the AK you showed will work for CQB and millsim at a cheep price
I have a M4A1 and a 1911 but the 1911 is way much more powerful than the M4A1 and the M4A1 can barely even make it 100 feet but it says it can go 350 feet and it's a spring gun
For beginners, for my expirience, I will adwice Cyma. They became more reliable, and good asembled. Lct for Best AK. GnG, combat maсhine, with nylon reciver. Ares amoeba is to difficult. Simple ver 2, and ver 3 gearbox. V3 gearbox is more reliable and tunible. AK is always be an AK. Russian custom workshops made real eradicate desintegrators! ( 500fps, with over 2000 bb/min, on over 500 mm barell), shooting 0,40 bb- no one escape, no one! No mersy, no respit, on 80 m! And civilisated tunes of course. In Russia cold weather is 6 month per year, we use reinforsed gearboxes, inevitably, change stock to milled aviation aluminium or even titan gearbox. Cnc cylinder piston Group with milled hop up, silhop tight barrel, with milled reinforsed gears, yes we like performance and reliability. Only 67 dollars you get very reliable Electronic gate, like Titan. But get more difficult to your built is decrease reliability. And certanly allweather batterys. No bunker magazine! Only mechanical with reinforsed spring! But Cyma mag is most reliable and omnifagus, suitible for most aegs. Zc and prometeus and pdi raven tight steel lathe barell. It is the way and solution. It s today trend in russian aegs. Or, russian made hpa system. Mechanical and Electronic. But is ambivalent with aeg branches. For the pistol is no one opinion. Kjw based New models with custom new parts, or TM socom, TM hi capa, TM autoGlock is solution. But Cyma Aep Glock with extended mag is disposable key to victory! Win, utilisated, bye New, Win, disposal.
First of all, your videos don't suck :) Now your points seem to have been mainly focused towards manufacturers. But I'm an airsoft n00b who doesn't have a shop around (we don't have these in my country) and also no friends I could ask. How can I check all your mentioned properties on a gun I can only observe in an online shop? Of course there are reviews, but they vary a lot too :(
Beginner or... lender guns . That's what I do .I have my guns . But living in a place without a close field . If I want to play I need to lend/ rent out a couple guns to guys
G and G for mostly everything, cyma for ak47 and ak74 and that's all I would recommend for a beginner because of the easiness of finding parts with ak/m4
Just Ipko This video is a bit of an experiment in its tone. I happen to know several people within the industry who watch this channel, and I know that my videos get around to various company representatives and affiliated players. I’ve tailored previous videos toward event promoters, field owners, refs, and content creators, but rarely do I address manufacturers and distributors directly. I figured I’d try it out in this video, and that my opinions and observations may be interesting both to them and to people shopping around. Whether or not it totally works, I’m still evaluating.

Here's my criteria- Is it under $220, and does it say CYMA or G&G? If Yes to both - It is a good gun, especially for beginners. If No to both - It is not good for beginners. If it is CYMA or G&G but over $220 - It is still a good gun, but the price may scare people. If it is under $220, but not CYMA or G&G - Be wary.
Cyma 040c ak , black modify flat hop bucking, black modify flat hop nub , Prometheus 6.03 455mm tightbore, a matrix red/green dot and an rhop patch .... so right around 290$ for a great but extremely affordable setup that shoots very far and accurately... so yes id recommend a cyma ak.
I wouldn't give up my FAMAS F1 Evo tbh, I love this thing... works well, lets me adjust 30 FPS + or - just unscrewing a couple thingies no problem... I just do not want to have an M4.
Tippmann tactical commando carbine. 130 dollars, fricking so reliable. I highly recommend it for everybody, whether it's someone just starting or someone who wants a sexy looking m4 to add to their arsenal for a small cost
Welcome to Russia, dear friend! In russian laws we restricted only 3 joules on 0,2 bb ball, and 393 fps, (120 m/s) indoor. And 492 fps (150 ms) is more optimal coosing speed on aeg in our country outdoors. For snipers only 3 joules limit. We perfer 0,32- 0,36 grams bb, ant today trend to use 0,36- 0,43 bb with silhop or rhop. Becаuse other solutions is not flying properly. Nobody wants to be owershooted. Also using of hpa system became more соммоn. 393 fps on pistol is norma. Аnd more for silent sniper pistol models for 0,4 BB. 120 ms is restriction for common aeg on big games. It allows to shoot in buldings. Come to us, is game of friends. We have one of bigger community on the world, and world lagest games like Day on Armor and Frontline. Welcome to Russia!

Dutchb4k Sub 350 really is ideal. I should have stressed that more.
yea when ppl ask me i give this as a price range telling them to not cheap out on eye and face pro and maby have a little money over for other gear.
Dutchb4k Same here. I tell people they should almost consider spending as much on eye protection as they do the entire rest of their starting kit.

imo, having a quick spring change gearbox is really a good thing, even on a starter gun.

Solid points made!! Also... AK is love. AK is life. Embrace the AK. 😬
Thanx for the info !
What’s the best gun manufacturer that has good quality control in a budget range around $250??
How do you suggest finding a good "starter" rifle if you aren't able to handle it beforehand?
I was looking into getting a tippmann in for my first airsoft gun they’re on sale right now for memorial day only $89.99
Interesting video.
Ive never heard of it, but seems quite solid
Praise Judy patches?
IMO a true beginner gun should be the following:
1. cost for a true beginner gun should NOT exceed $150.
I already bought my first AEG it's a g&p m4a1. It's pretty good.
Christian that’s a higher-end gun
Yes, I saved up I just didn't wanna buy a combat machine because those have horrible trigger response
G&P is under-appreciated, but seems to be on the upswing lately.
E House - Gun Gamers I want to suggest a video idea. Compare the vfc mk18 with the g&p mk18.
Christian I just sold my VFC Mk18 LOL. But maybe at some point, the guy who bought it is a friend of mine.
Does the tap airsoft ris fit on a Krytac
I just bought an ares amoeba 16 is that a good beginner gun. It was expensive
Cool video. Do you chrono your guns on zero hop up? Praise Judy!
I have a M4A1 and a 1911 but the 1911 is way much more powerful than the M4A1 and the M4A1 can barely even make it 100 feet but it says it can go 350 feet and it's a spring gun
Where do you play other than river city?
Always worth noting that you get bored of one gun and start wanting them all...
Where in Michigan can you practice at, most are paintball hardly any airsoft.
Do a google search, I play at motor city airsoft
Thanks for info airsoft Seth rogan
What makes a good beginner gun? Check and see if it says CYMA on the box. If it does, you're good.
First of all, your videos don't suck :)
Now your points seem to have been mainly focused towards manufacturers.
But I'm an airsoft n00b who doesn't have a shop around (we don't have these in my country)
and also no friends I could ask.
So I am coming from paintball. Sadly my son isn't interested but is interested in airsoft. So recommendations for reliable brands?
G and G for mostly everything, cyma for ak47 and ak74 and that's all I would recommend for a beginner because of the easiness of finding parts with ak/m4
Was this for airsoft manufacturers who want to get in the market and are beginners or players? Sometimes sounds like it
Just Ipko This video is a bit of an experiment in its tone. Whether or not it totally works, I’m still evaluating.
so which one is a good begginner gun, what brand?
jlg329 There are many but some really good companies that are for new players are G&G, lancer, and cyma
Cyma ak ftw
I don’t understand, is this video for new players, or for Airsoft manufactures?

Here's my criteria-
Is it under $220, and does it say CYMA or G&G?
If Yes to both - It is a good gun, especially for beginners.
If No to both - It is not good for beginners.
If it is CYMA or G&G but over $220 - It is still a good gun, but the price may scare people.
If it is under $220, but not CYMA or G&G - Be wary.
important video
My cyma ak with upgrades altogether costs 290$
Cyma 040c ak , black modify flat hop bucking, black modify flat hop nub , Prometheus 6.03 455mm tightbore, a matrix red/green dot and an rhop patch .... so right around 290$ for a great but extremely affordable setup that shoots very far and accurately... so yes id recommend a cyma ak.
What happened with Andre I watched for a while stopped and came back and saw he was different I just want to know.
No Raider, probably one of the best, most common starter guns?
The 15 down thumbs are probably the ones Cory waved at a couple times :'D
I hate the new etu’s but mosfets I think are good
If my 13:1's dont fit in my krytac im going to crytac
I wouldn't give up my FAMAS F1 Evo tbh, I love this thing... works well, lets me adjust 30 FPS + or - just unscrewing a couple thingies no problem... I just do not want to have an M4.
Could we have a video of Amy showing off her hi capas
Starter aegs suck. Get an Evo or a Krytac. Avalons are decent too.
Cheap or reliable. Seems like you can't have both.
Tippmann tactical commando carbine. 130 dollars, fricking so reliable. I highly recommend it for everybody, whether it's someone just starting or someone who wants a sexy looking m4 to add to their arsenal for a small cost
I made the video 420 likes
why is seth rogen doing youtube videos?
