I make smash sliders for our July 4th party. I usually do ham and cheese burger variants and some with real bacon pieces smashed in. This past year, I added Oklahoma onion to the rotation and they went first! Griddle on!

Smashing the tailgate party!!! I dig it. Often I do too many at once and I know the first to go down get over cooked. That said, I haven’t made a smash burger I didn’t love yet even if they were cooked too long. Next time, however, I’m trying them in batches, and I’ll try onions on top with mustard on both sides. I always love what you guys are trying, and I bought both cookbooks already. Griddle On!

@@waltwinsI finally tried these yesterday. I’m thinking that they were the best tasting burger I’ve ever sampled in my lifetime. I also did them in batches of six, and they all came out perfectly. This certainly won’t be my last time making these incredible sliders!

Smashing the Tailgate Party Brothers! Oklahoma State all the way. My smashburgers, I love lots of onions and then add a schmeer of cream cheese and roasted or griddled poblano peppers on top (and some hot sauce)

For me it's still Baseball season, so it's hard for me to call it Footballs season, lol. I like football okay, but I love baseball. Don't get me wrong, I'll be watching the Seahawks game over the weekend, but Mariners first, lol. Anyway, you guys really are smashing the tailgate party with those sliders. The smell of onions and beef reminds me of the fair, ooooh there is nothing like it. Our Washington State Fair is going on right now... wish I could go. My favorite thing to get there is the Earthquake Burger, a one pound huge patty and an enormous bun... and tons of grilled onions. You can even get a double. One year I did that... so it was two pounds and I actually finished it. I did not go on any rides however, lol. Griddle On!

Thank you fam! We actually addressed this - it’s a big point we try to make. The flavor is good, but our intent with the Smashburger is to get the Maillard reaction on the patty (the sear). Placing the onions down first denies any sear on the meat. It’s a top issue in the Smashburger group we’re in on Facebook…😂😂 - our intent was the sear! We’ve done the other way too, and agree the flavor is incredible! Much love fam, GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥

I know you were expediting, but steaming the buns on the onions and patty is what makes sliders sliders.
For sure, we actually discussed it, we’ve done steamed buns in a White Castle copycat, and they were great? But began to get soggy in bulk - so we preferred this method of keeping the integrity of the soft buns. We so appreciate a good steamed bun though!

I don’t think the sliced onions are working. The onion is not flavoring all the sliders and you will get different flavors. They will be good but not the same taste. Look at what White Castle in KY and Crystals in TN and south do. They do a fine dice of onions for the very reason I see. You don’t get the contact of onion with the burger. Great video!
