    Yeah, no. That's a baby alligator. Hasn't even lost it's stripes yet. A fully grown alligator can be 15-16 feet long. That's like a foot and a half.

    Since I have been watching Animal Vlogs in the USA for a long time, I know that it is really forbidden to move them without the help of Florida Fish and Wildlife and there will be two scenarios, they can kill them or take them to a facility and they cannot be released into the wild.

    • @islandclubtech
      @islandclubtech 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There's a reason for these policies. Alligator brains have what can best be described as a "homing mechanism". You can take an alligator out of a body of water and take it 50 miles away and it can find its way back to where it was originally trapped from. Once an alligator is deemed a nuisance, more often than not they are killed and the trapper is literally paid (for the removal) with the hide and meat. The other alternative is the trapper takes the alligator to a facility where it lives out the rest of its life, which is only done by a handful of trappers.
      Sadly, the issues with alligators is more often than not humans moving into and developing their territory and humans feeding them. Once alligators lose their fear of humans or learn humans are a source of food, they become a nuisance.
      Where I work, we had an alligator get onto one of the tennis courts by accident. We did everything we could to open up the way for the alligator to walk out on its own because unfortunately, like Florida, in South Carolina, they euthanize the alligators if they have to trap them.
      A lot of the time, at least where I live, law enforcement and DNR try to redirect wayward reptiles while utilizing euthanasia for actual problem gators. They also try very hard to educate people (tourists) to not harass or feed alligators because "a fed gator is a dead gator" as they say and there are laws prohibiting the harassment and feeding of alligators. In South Carolina it is also illegal to harass or harm alligators. This includes throwing rocks, sticks or any other object at an alligator. If you are found guilty of harassing an alligator, you may face a $5,000 fine and one year in prison. Florida has similar laws. So it's not like these states just hate alligators and kill them every chance they get.

I would have never thought to call any kind of law enforcement to put down a nuisance gator growing up. Honestly I dont think that lady knew what she was talking about when she said you couldnt touch an animal that is an active threat to your pets and family. That just seems dumb and unlawful to value an animal's life that is a threat over a human.

    Im sorry but both of you made me laugh out loud calling this gator "big" that one is actually still a teen aka a juvenile based on its coloring and size. Im sure you know that Adults are bigger and darker in color but if you didnt now you know. Anyways im sorry for your loss if you did lose some fish very unfortunate you may have to build a barrier so nothing else can climb in.

      I use to hunt gators in south Louisiana. Largest one I’ve ever caught was 14 ft 1 inch.
      When he said “big” my eyes rolled.
      This one here was the size we released from the hatchery.

    Yeah, even a Gater that size with a good enough bite would not only rip tendons and possibly make specific parts of your body unusable (like if it chomped on your hand, it could literally chomp through multiple tendons needed to work your fingers), it would also spread necrotic disease that could cause major infection to spread and destroy your skin.
