    Honestly I've ridden both and now own the KLX. The better all around choice. The Xt feels a little archaic compared to the KLX which while dated has a much better feeling power delivery. The gearbox on the KLX is much smoother as well. My honest opinion is that these bikes are not in the same ballpark.

    I got the XT in May and love it. The number one selling point for me was the seat height. I am 5'4" with a 27" inseam. I can almost flat foot on the XT.
    I wish there was a 6th gear, for sure. I wish it was also a 300cc, but I have no problems running it a 65mph.
    I really wanted the DR650, but it was too damn big.

      Congrats!
      I still plan on buying one sometime down the road.
      I just got back from a motocamp trip on the DR. I’m 5’ 5” and have fully adjusted to it.
      For my expectations, it is the perfect choice.
      Thanks for watching!

      I am 5ft 7 with a 29 inch inseam. With a 2" lower, the DR650 felt great. That's the next bike I want.
      I have an xt250 now
      There's no reason for another gear for me. The 5 speed is wide ratio. Once you learn how to use the 5 speeds, no issues whatsoever

But this vid and all the comments made me realize the xt is for me because yes it's close to the tw with little more power, that's perfect. I don't need a 6 gear, radiator, 70+mph. K.I.S.S

    The XT250 is really fun on the tighter trails due to the lighter weight and the shorter seat height... but like you mentioned in the video you already get that benefit with the TW200. If I was going to buy a bike today, it would be the KLX300.

    Funny I’ve got an xt250 and I ride my brothers klx300 all the time. The xt250 is too close to the tw in my opinion. The klx has a really good suspension that you will not regret spending the extra money for. Not to mention the other pluses with the klx.
    I will say though that the xt can get me places I can’t with any other bike, accept maybe the tw200. The seat height and gearing allows me to throw it in first and walk it up or through anything.

    • @TillDeathDualUsSport
      @TillDeathDualUsSport  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats exactly what I’m thinking, that maybe in a sense, I already own the XT and might be disappointed with how similar they are🤷🏻‍♂️ The KLX, from what I’ve watched and read, sounds like an excellent mix of power, suspension, and utility.

  • @scottjackson163

    I just bought the KLX 300. It’s still at the dealership for now while I take care of garage space issues at home. I’m 5’6”. I can tiptoe touch on the stock bike. I ordered the Seat Concepts low seat. Awaiting delivery of same.
    I’ve ridden the XT 250 and found it too mild mannered. I regard the KLX as capable of doing anything that a KTM or Husky can do. Add a slip on aftermarket pipe, remove the snorkel from the air box, maybe drop a tooth on the counter sprocket and the KLX will climb walls. I do not regard the KLX 300 as beginner bike. You can ride it as a beginner would, but that is not a property of the motorcycle.

    I had a DRZ400SM and got a KLX300SM just for the 6th gear. What a difference!
    I'm also 5'5" and there is a fair amount of adjustment on the rear shock lock rings. Because I only road ride, I lowered mine both front and rear to an unsprung seat height of just 30 inches using lowering links, clip on bars, and cutting the kickstand short. It's really nice to flatfoot both feet when stopped, but I don't believe you'll want to do that for dirt riding.

    • @TillDeathDualUsSport
      @TillDeathDualUsSport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bet that 6th gear is glorious! You definitely wouldn’t want to go that low for dirt riding, but that is impressive that you got it down that low!

    • @supermotogreg
      @supermotogreg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TillDeathDualUsSport My DRZ was frustrating with only 5 gear ratios so widely spread apart. Having an extra ratio puts everything much closer together... especially 4th, 5th and 6th which are like a close ratio sportbike transmission.
      The front can be lowered about 1/2" until the tops of the fork tubes touch the bars. So if you just want your bike a little bit lower. Don't get links. Just spin the lock rings up a little and drop the front forks a little. so the back and front are both lowered together. This retains the original geometry.
      I completely removed the bars, dropped the front two inches and installed lightweight alloy racing clip on bars directly onto the protruding tops of the fork tubes. I swapped sides on the bar holders so the bars are level like regular bikes and not angled down like on sportbikes. I'm a little guy so low narrow bars are a perfect fit for me.
      The chassis has 6 inches of unsprung ground clearance, so the bike corners incredibly well when both bike and rider are tucked in low between the axles.
      I live in a canyon so everything around me is winding mountain roads... perfect for a lowered supermoto.

    Between the two choices you are offering I would go with the KLX300. I think the XT250 is too similar to your TW200. Also give consideration to the new CRF300L. Both the KLX and the CRF are new, but I think the CRF will get better aftermarket support. The CRF looks tall, but has very soft suspension that will sag enough to fit you. I went from XT225 to CRF300L and I am very happy with that transition. Regardless of your final choice you have some nice candidates and will be happy.

    • @TillDeathDualUsSport
      @TillDeathDualUsSport  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is one thing I noticed, the aftermarket for the KLX is not very robust, but at least all of the essential mods/upgrades are there for the most part. I researched the CRF300L, but the KLX suspension has me coming back every time, haha. It’s probably because of the TW. I’m looking for a significant difference between the two. Nonetheless, I’m glad to hear that you’re stoked on your upgrade! Thanks for watching!

      I agree the XT should be 6 speed. You can feel the torque even in 5th at max speed. When I bought my 2021 XT used with only 400 miles I also had a deposit on a new CRF 300L and glad I chose the XT. I would love the WR250R but the seat height is a killer. I'd also love the XR650L but then again seat height. Motorcycle manufacturers should that seat height into consideration when making dual sport bikes.

    KLX300 all the way for me. I might end up with one for something in between the TW200 and XSR900. Check out KLX230 though, fuel injected and air cooled, better on road, 6 speed, pretty light weight, better suspension than TW but not as good at 300 but for a smaller guy might be nice. I'm not that tall and the KLX230 felt pretty nice when I sat on one in the dealership. It's bigger than it look in the pics that's for sure. CRF300L is cool too. WR250R is probably too tall but they make lowering links.

      I’ll have to watch some vids on the KLX230. I kept skipping past it thinking that it would have even less get up and go due to lesser CCs, but its worth a look. You should purchase the DR 650. Don’t you deserve an antiquated overweight motorcycle that’s a handful off-road. By the way the XT originally called the sorrow, has little to do with your little 200 Yamaha. The sorrow is based on trials bikes.. This is what gives it Extreme off-road capability beyond what most people can believe this bike will accomplish. The 300 Kawasaki is by far the best choice if you would prefer to put more time on blacktop then trails. I have owned both motorcycles Kawasaki and sorrow. Both are excellent motorcycles but have just a slightly different mission. My final advice to you, buy two motorcycles one for your main mission and the other one for the other kind of riding you do. Remember the average American motorcyclist owns three motorcycles. America, what a country.
