I know this video is 3 yrs old but I just wanted to say thank you 🙏🏼. I’m just getting into wine 🍷. I had a long and exhausting 2 days of work this weekend. I got off and stop by the store to buy a bottle of wine. Went home and noticed I don’t have a corkscrew! I tried to drill a screw in it and pull it out but it didn’t work. So before I could ruin the cork, I told my boyfriend, let me check TH-cam. So thank you cause he opened for me on first try with the knife 🔪
Here I was walking home with a nice bottle of red to my new house. Finally get home and realize I haven't any opener. Omg has this video saved me😍. Screw->hammer->took 5 seconds. Thank you so much 💕
At first I tried the knife method, but I couldn’t not have a pairing knife and it was not working and was not safe to perform, The screw and fork method does work! My only addition to this that I didn’t found a big thread screw at first so I tried with what I had. The smaller thread screw slipped out when I pulled the cork 1/4 of the way out, so I found a screw with bigger threads and longer length and used my electric drill to drill it in. With two people effort (one holding the bottle and other pulling the fork) the cork was out inn a few seconds. So, the screw method works! Thank you to the author of the video for the life hack that ACTUALLY works.
I used the screw and a pair of scissors! I twisted the screw in with my hand. And used the scissors to pull and twist. When the cork came out, I felt like a champion!!
As an amateur cook THANK YOU!! I was only into beer and finally got myself some good recommended wines and didn’t have an opener. This video did me much justice 👍
Simplest way is to use a lighter and heat the neck of the bottle for about 1 minute while rotating it. This heats the small amount of air under the cork while simultaneously expanding the glass neck slightly. The cork will rise up and pop out on its own. Just be careful not to touch the neck for about 30 seconds or so afterwords because it does get pretty warm.
The screw technique worked for me. Thanks a lot. In my part of the world wine is not consumed that regularly. It was hard to find a opener in local stores. I could not wait to get it online. Thanks a lot once again.
I just did the knife job !!! Snapped the end on the knife 🔪 off !! Thanks for that advice ! So as I am an engineer I got my dewalt drill out with 10mm drill bit and drill a hole through ! Bloody perfect, cheers 🥂
Yes Sir. A combonation of both did the trick. The knife first to get the cork loose and twisting in the bottle and then a screw too pull it out. Thanks! You are a life saver.
Well... I’m officially desperate. Couldn’t find my wine bottle opener. I def needed wine. This is my break from a pretty stressful life😬This is my second video I’ve watched. I liked it, not because I was successful...but because it amused me so much!😂 Oh, and I did get to the wine...only after massacring the cork with a knife and managing to shove the cork down and spray myself and the counter with red wine! Silver lining? I’m drinking the wine with the added cork sediment. At least I didn’t have to break the bottle and lap the wine off the floor...
This video, the producer of the video was funny and entertaining. I enjoyed it and the knife tactic worked out really well. Sucks tho my first wine cork is almost cut to smithereens
We thought we were stuck with a bottle of delicious moscato because the hotel didn’t have a corkscrew. But thanks to your video, we’re now enjoying the sweet success of opening a bottle of wine with a screw and a fork! Thank you!! 🎉🎉
Yep definitely tried the knife method and most definitely pushed the cork through and getting splashed all over my face and kitchen. Thanks life you win again
The side commentary is absolutely hilarious. I gave up drinking a year ago but I still have a wine shelf, nothing special it’s just wine bottles I’ve collected because I think the labels look nice/cool. Didn’t want to dip into any one of them. But tonight was extenuating circumstances. I am in need of 4 root canals and can’t afford it. The pain was through the roof, radiating through the jaw, into other teeth making all of their surfaces hurt, and also causing a migraine. Since I never planned to open them, I didn’t have a cork screw. But I needed something fast because things like Tylenol won’t even scratch the surface of nerve pain. This video helped immensely! First method didn’t work since my best knife was too flimsy/flexible. Second method worked great! Didn’t get it all the way there (it’s a little more difficult with a cork verse the foam type in the video). The cork started breaking away but I was at least able to get it to a point where I was able to shove the rest of the cork into the bottle and pour a glass (or 2 😆) from there. This video saved my ass, I was in so much pain. And the funny notes about “if you don’t have a screw, look around your wall fixtures and those can be replaced” really had me chuckling when I didn’t even think I could laugh given the pain. The video might be instructional as well as satire, but great execution. The most ironic thing about this all, is I picked a bottle with a label picture that I was less attached to. Basically my least favorite of the bunch since they were collected by looks/art- not type of wine. After I opened it I looked to see what it was, just to know what I was drinking and I kid you not…it’s called Tooth & Nail. I know a nail is not a screw, but same concept. And tooth in the name? My mind is blown 🤯. Thank you, great video!
I opened it partially with a knife, and then with my teeth, I gently pulled out the cork ... that's the third way :) Thank you man, I have proper drunk Sunday evening
A size 8 double-pointed knitting needle tapped in with a can of tomato soup works well, also. (PSA: Don't drink and knit. It's not worth the hearbreak.)
Thanks for making this video! It helped! While watching your video I used the rigid knife approach. I was able to get the cork out using a kitchen. Thanks again!
Very informative and extremely funny! Thank you for sharing your wonderful expertise. I hope you’re staying happy, safe and healthy by ordering your Wines online during this horrible COVID-19 Pandemic. P.S. You’re the MacGyver of Suave, Sophistication & Bon Vivant
Nothing worst than having the shittiest day but at least looking forward to that bottle of wine when you get home, only to realize you got a cork bottle instead of twist cap when you dont have a corkscrew 🙂
Awesome wife had been wanting a some wine for days, never dawned on me to check youtube for this how to the fork and screw method work for me in seconds. Thanks great video
Great video. I ran into this a while back not having anything to open my wine. Your video will be very helpful for next time. But hopefully I will have the proper tool the next time.
It works in a pinch but a couple of draw backs: 1. It takes a couple of minutes to heat up the air to the point where you actually see the cork move. 2. The lighter and the bottle get extremely hot so be carefull. 3. The cork will almost always break under the preasure created.
I’m over here running late to work because I needed wine for my crockpot dinner recipe and I don’t have a wine opener 🤦🏽♀️ it took 20 secs to explain the technique and this guy making me late talking about romantic dinners 🤣🤣🤣 after fast forwarding through all that, it worked!!
The fork the screwdriver and the screw works perfectly the only tip is that you have to actually try to screw the screw in as far as it possibly can go until you're able to use the fork because if you only put the tip of the screw in it's not going to pop the cork but this has saved my night.....thank u....

I'm here today and I'm in same situation lol
I keep commenting on videos from 2007. But anyway other people can relate to the scenario of your post as I do.
This made me crack up when he said “.... is to die “ 😂😂😂😂
What’s your insta.
Its @the.animalchin.effect :D
easily the best commentary/narration i’ve ever experienced, love this
Wasn't expect him to say "...is to die". Rotfl

Thanks!

Thanks Cleveland!!! 😂👍🏾
Thanks… the knife technique was super easy. The last time I used a knife i had cork bits floating in my merlot.
Methods were Properly explained for success. Whosoever watches this tutorial it works exactly as seen in the video. Nice job👍
This was super helpful and properly detailed ! Second method worked like a charm, didn’t even take long and not messy at all. Thanks a lot ! 😊
The 2nd method is racist❗You're a Trump supporter
thanks! i was literally about to start crying because i couldn’t open mine but it helped so much!
Did you ever get over that alcohol problem? 😂
@@popineryday4378 yes I had just did really bad on an exam thats why I was upset 😂

Happy for you.☕💝
I pressed too hard with a knife and push the cork into the bottle. Fortunately I have another cork to seal it for later

I tried an hour then ended it with a floating cork inside bottle 😆 hey wine is wine right? Still taste good
Christina L It happened for me too.
Lmfao its 230am and its about to be like that 😂😂😂😂 fuck it lol
Jessieboo713 lol

Same just happened to me but mutilated the cork first so now I’m stuck picking little pieces of cork out of my wine 😂
The absolute best wine opening video ever wasn't expecting this gem

Does anyone do this?
@@kid4rm90s That doesn't work.
@@kid4rm90s yes
@@Kiki-AndBeyond yes it does. Takes about 1-2 mins
@@avswish33 False. I literally tried it and was a complete fail.

I’m sure everyone heard me struggling to open the wine bottle but it was so worth it when I popped it open 😂 ps I bent the dam fork now
The fork died so that you could have wine. Some sacrifice is necessary.
Jimmy Cotreau 😂 it had a good run
@@Itsjimmay I already know my fork is going to bend! 😂😂😂

I have my red wine here in my ref for 3 days but i cannot open thanks man for this useful video
This video saved my marriage
Im hear cuz im drunk alr and cant find my cork screw
Um very eloquently explained. Method #1 ended up with exploded wine all over the kitchen and a floating cork but not mad at all- bottle is open!
"And now, you know, whos gonna have a good night, tonight."🤣😂
This made my night along with dis bottle. Namse? Thanks.

Just used the knife technique & it didn’t come out as clean as yours but I got it open! Thank you!
A few nights back I was in this same exact situation. I used the knife trick and it worked almost as good as a dedicated cork screw!
Thank you you saved a student’s night
This video was hilarious!! But most importantly, I got my cork out! Thanks

Opened my wine bottle using the steak knife method. Easy! Thanks bro!

Wow thank you so much! Just opened a bottle of Negroamaro with the first method, lovely!
