Nice video. Notice the silver tracks, which I think are exclusive to the Frecciarossa (Red Arrow) express passenger train system. It is great to see European freight trains in this video, although they are only a tiny fraction of the length of US freight trains, some of which are now 2 miles (3km) long. Apparently Europe is concentrating on moving more freight over the rails because of heavy truck traffic on Euro highways. I have read that 80% of the trains running through the new Gotthard Base Tunnel (Switzerland to Italy) are freight.

Tracks are painted with white paint to help reflect heat and not deform them. All of rails in Italy should theoretically have those.
