ChiFI is such a rewarding experience for someone who backed out of the iem hifi space *many* years ago to escape the increasingly absurd prices Western brands charged for often moribund and mediocre products. I was low key expecting something of a redux review, but bro really had the same script as the OG video almost verbatim, which is actually kind of impressive in its own way

I am listening to this on my Sony IER-Z1Rs that I bought after listening to your and others reviews (Sony should pay you commission). These are my favorite IEMs, period. For me, they were worth every penny.
We can tell for sure that the engineers had a lot of passion for this project. The finishing on the Z1R chassis, the brushed spiral pattern is typically seen on the mechanism of luxury mechanical watches, requiring a lot of skill when done by hand in the old days of watchmaking. Such a nice detail of inspiration.

The Sony IER-Z1R are still an A+ Ranking with 1 value star as of March 16, 2024. In spite of being over 5 years old at this point in time, they've held up quite well. I just wish Sony would release more modern Over-Ear headphones that would be as well tuned. Their build quality and presentation is impeccable.
hey supercharismaticyoutuber69 I would argue that they ARE worth the money, and I know that sounds insane. A lot of IEM fans have an "endgame" set way out of budget hopefully they can afford this one day. I feel that this is one of the few sets that actually feel endgame. Also have to be a slight masochist to daily these as they are slow torture to wear
I'm pretty sure the naming scheme is IER-XX because they have other IER-XX for in-ear- monitor professional line, like the IER-M9. (XBS is the consumer "Extra bass" line). Granted, the IER-Z1 is marketed as a consumer item, so...
ahhhhh classic crin we know and love @8:05. Never gets old but yeah i have always agreed. I feel similarly about cables and to a lesser degree balanced DAC architectures.
IER-Z1R is one of the best IEMs you can get, and if you've got the cash definitely worth the asking price. You would have to spend 2x more to get a significant upgrade imho. I owned one for 2 years, and have to say that while it sounds ok with the Apple Dongle, you are doing yourself a disservice if that's all you use to listen to it. There is a balanced cable in the box for a reason, use it with the best balanced DAP or Amp you can get. In my case that was a Schiit Jotunheim2, which was absolutely amazing, and the HiBy RS6 was also really farking awesome.
15000 I presume? I am one of them but for a market this small it is expected, and an amount this large for this product is unfathomably successful so to speak

Thing about Z1R - it's not your daily driver. It's a thing you wear to listen your equipment. They are quite tiresome in terms of both fit and huge bass if you're wearing them for long enough. There are certain albums (tatsuro yamashita - cozy, bert jansch - avocet) that I just refuse to listen on anything else, but for most music they're just normal iems with little bit too much bass. I'd also disagree that weebshit and k-pop is where they shine, I'd rather go for moondrop kind of signature there.
Still waiting on the tangzu wan'er review! It's so cheap, and I'm sure so many people are waiting for it - I sure am, just waiting your seal of approval before getting one.
Crinacle, do IEMs have to initially warm up like some headphones might need, to get their intended frequency response? and furthermore, would this perhaps be the cause of the "burn-in" theory?

It's not worth it if your music source quality isn't even hires/lossless. This is for audiophile who aren't subscribing to just mere apple music lol. What's not worth it is a $200 bluetooth iems couldn't even beat $30 wired iems.
@PX02 The 2 Pro absolutely beat $30 wired IEMs. I enjoy them vastly more than the Empire Ears Hero, and use them a lot more even than the Moondrop S8. Have to stress again that the S8 and Z1R are obviously objectively better (the Heroes are worse, lol)... the gap has just gotten considerably smaller.
