I love how he starts the conversation demanding proof from Rick, knowing that Rick would also be asking for proof. He tried to beat him to it and shift the doubt across the counter lol
This "expert" is a total fraud. He lowballs every single offer.
How do you know he lowballed him? Do you have a source showing what something like this actually sold for? Plus, they kinda have to stay conservative since they don't want the liability to have Rick overpay for something based on their appraisal, especially on pieces like this that are one of a kind.
I'm not so sure regarding this one at least. This journal went on auction in 2017 with a min reserve of 20k dollars but the bids failed to meet the reserve price.

It makes my skin crawl seeing something this significant, this original, from someone as amazing as Thompson, being lowballed by a total con like Steve. I'm glad the pawn shop didn't get it. It's so far above a lot of what this show is about.
I’m happy the guy walked away after that con artist “appraised” it for 20k. He said “no doubt about it” after the appraisal which is one way to realize this man is a con artist. “No doubt” of a price of something that is actually priceless? What a con man he is! And trying to rip off an old man? That’s shameful

That fraud of an expert doesn’t know anything. That was 100% all Hunter’s writing and the price the old man was asking is a great deal. If I had that kind of money I would buy that in a heartbeat. I’m glad the old man walked away. He will get way more from someone that actually knows what they are talking about.
