Great video, thanks for sharing those beautiful pieces of American history. I’ve never seen so many together in one video. Definite bucket listers, I’d be happy with any of them in my collection.
I love this video, I am a new collector I guess I would say. I started stacking silver about a year ago and about a month ago I came across an 1802 Wide Date Bust Dollar, but I think it is more of a narrow date. I know I shouldn't be buying things like this without being more of an expert, but the only person I can blame is myself if I got over charged. You are correct when you said the Bust Dollars are not a cheap coin to acquire I was able to get it for around $1375, I will probably send it off to get graded next month to get an exact grade and very detailed info on the coin I bought. I wish I could afford a 1794 or 1795 Bust Dollar. You have a heck of a selection in your store.
Every one of the raw coins should be sent in for certification. Most will come back details however most importantly especially for that 1795 you want to have proof that it's genuine. Even if they come back details graded they are still worth a lot, and you would get more slabbed over raw.
1799, scratched? Those lines are all outie, not innie, can only be caused by fissures or deep scratches in the die. It very much looks like die cracks but it has to be a more extreme version of die crack that I have seen. I very much doubt that PCGS would call those "scratches" and I do not see any scratches elsewhere on the coin.
While I agree with you I am not sure PCGS or NGC would give it anything other than a details grade. It should be submitted as a cross over and see what happens . Not a crack out. !
Why? doesn't hurt it and when they grade them from what im told by a good source is they don't even use ,just hold by the edge...Those are not mint state coins and most likely they will get details grade anyways.
@jimmycapps7263 The acids in the oils in your fingers will etch the surface. I have seen it, and it degrades the value! These old coins deserve the respect and care of gloved hands!
Are you serious , sure if these were ms then yes don't put your fingers on surface of the coin. The oils from his fingers won't etch the coin , that is ridiculous for any coin especially a worn circulated one.@@thomasfarr7934
@@thomasfarr7934 The acids on his fingers will not etch the surface , these are circulated coins touched thousand of times and you think that its going to make a difference if he fingers the surface of the coin?? That's laughable. MS , Au 58 and proof coins yes don't put your fingers on them. Gloves , the only people I ever saw using those little ole white gloves where people on You Tube .
Yes, gloves would be nice… I have these myself. How much does one of these coins cost. I have 1794-1798. I was wondering if I sold them what is the price?

@@blacksand357 the oil from your hands will cause discoloration and will further the wear to the touch same as cabinet wear. Best thing to do is to house them in a quality holder free of PVC. Best of luck!
Just to play in safe Erik I will heed your advice in future videos concerning more expensive or collectible coins. Thanks for viewing and commenting. 👍
I have a 1798 coin identical to the one here, in better shape, it has a lot of wear on it, you can tell it's been circulated, but you can still plainly see and read everything on it. The writing on the outer ring is in really good shape! It's been in the family for yrs, I became owner in '18 after my dad passed... Would love to know the value, guess I should probably get it looked at, lol, but I also may be interested in selling it if anyone may be interested.

Love the Draped Bust series!
Beautiful coins.
That 1803 imo was the nicest of them all. Looks original ,possibly a strait grade.
Agree that 1803 looked like the best of the raw coins
Great video and beautiful coins. These are my favorite of the US coins. 🙌🇺🇸

Several of them look cleaned
They very well may be. This is how they came from the people we purchased them from. It was hard to pass these up though. 👍

I took a closer look at this coin look at the left obverse field , I see what appears to be a scratch next to the bottom 2 stars .

Coyen 1799
I have an 1800 one
I just came across a 1795 draped bust offset
I have this coin 1799
It makes me cringe every time I see collectible coins touched with bare fingers on the surfaces other than the rim, and sometimes even on the rim.
Thanks and will do next time 👍

Nice but wouldn't be handling them without cotton gloves !
I was thinking that as well but since they are in circulated condition no harm I suppose...

It is same condition as junk silver, when you touch junk silver the oil from your hands doesn't ruin it, now does it?
Nice classic coins , please handle them correctly around the rim other than touching them all over the coin. Sad
