    Red light on
    Check engine light on
    Amber light on
    High coolant temperature
    Fan on all the time
    Coolant leaks
    Engine shutting down
    Tools needed:
    13 mm socket
    3/8 drive ratchet
    3/8 drive extension
    8 mm socket
    1/4 drive Ratchet
    Parts needed
    Thermostat A4722001315
    Thermostat hose
    Thermostat seal
    Clamps

    Thank you for your video's Francisco, my truck is not running hot at all, but I noticed yesterday the bottom hose is not even warm. I was looking for a leak because I've had to add a little bit of coolant for the last three days in the morning. I can't find any coolant leaking anywhere, don't smell any coolant, oil is clean and the coolant tank is clean. I just replaced the radiator and hoses about a month ago.

      It depends on the area but it about $200 dollars. Some area bit more or less.

    What temp that opens the thermostat and what temp turns the fan on
    My about 221 when the fan is on how i know the thermostat is bad?

    Why would coolant be leaking from the bottom of the thermostat? My truck is not overheating, just leaking coolant.

    Which is a average tempature on my Guage on the dash board for a cascadia 2019? I HAVE HIGH PRESSURE on the coolant reservoir tank but I dont know which is the normal tempature. My truck runs between 180° to 190° but load on hills goes to 210° or 220°

    Hi Francisco! I have a cascadia 2015 DD15 and I don't like the temperature, it's always a little above 200. The fan works how it should and cools, but temperature is rising to fast, even a small uphill with temperature outside 70F it's getting hot, also oil temperature is rising up to 235. What should I change to get this truck running healthier ??? I don't want to damage something else and get in trouble.

      You can replace the thermostat and the oil thermostat

    francisco i need your help, my reverse light dont work, i changed the light and still dont work, cant find the fuse for reverse light. i check the connector at the reverse light there is no power, do you know where is the fuse or some kind of switch is located so i can pass the annual dot inspection, thanks

      Could be the reverse switch or the cable is damaged somewhere.

      Francisco Amaya I changed the switch and still nothing, there is no power going to the switch, someone said it’s the Sam chase, but all my lights and trailer light work

      Yes, it is possible. The chassis Sam could be causing that.

    Hello sir I have a 2014 freightliner cascadia it’s getting hot when going up hill and sitting in traffic it goes up to 220 degrees then the fan kicks on and it goes down but on flat ground it stays around 190-200 degrees what do u think my problem is. Thanks any info is greatly appreciated

    Maestro que temparatura es normal. Siento como que el mio se pone demaciado caliente pongo el ac para que prenda el fan siempre esta 205f a casi 225f

      Mi dd15 empty a 65 mph va a 200 de temp y cuando reduzco la velocidad o paro, baja a 180 190 ... es normal o necesito reemplazar algo??? Gracias

    Francisco my truck is running hot and can’t figure out what the issue is. It has coolant lines running back from the firewall next to the turbo back to my APU. I have lost my coolant twice do to plastic Ts breaking. Every time I hit a mountain the truck wants to run hot. I have replaced the thermostat, and water pump. Fan clutch is engaging properly but I don’t think it’s engaging soon enough to cool the truck down or something? I keep having to manually turn my fan on by popping the hood before each grade and pulling that plug up on the firewall driver side. Do you know what the issue could be? I use to never run hot before. Truck has 550k miles on it.

      Francisco Amaya I think I found the issue. Fan doesn’t seem to be engaging right when the temp is running hot. It has new thermostat, water pump, and coolant jug. Also replaced the solenoid on the driver side up by the fire wall that goes to the fan. The coolant lines for the APU are next to the turbo. I guess it just got too hot right there and the plastic Ts broke. I also got a manual fan switch but need to get it programmed

    I have a 2013 freightliner cascadia DD15 I noticed at idle the temp rise to about 215 -220 fan don't come on, that's happen with the ac off, when I turn the ac on the fan comes on and cool the engine to about 190

      The fan activation temp is 223 F on this DD15

      Prolly need a thermostat.. i think i do too.
      Check the waterpump too if u can.. mine has a leak.. not too bad. and crazy cause it will stop for longer periods of time than the time it leaks. Temps creepin up sometime in traffic also.

    hola francisco tengo un problem con un dd15 in un western star creo que es 2013 pero lo que ase es que se calienta cuando lo aseleras osea puedes ir a 55mph y la temperatura se mantiene a 190 pero le a seleras y suve a hasta 250 y las check engien light salen le bajas el acelerador y las luses sevan y la temperatura vaja . me podrias ayudar ya le can bie el clucht fan switch el termostato lo purge 2 veses pensado que era aire y tambien checke el clutch fan y prende a 221 cro q es normal y sopletie el radiador tambien por favor ayudame.

    Changing the thermostat will it stop pressure build up in the overflow reservoir?

      It could, specially if the engine is over heating.

      Loosen the cap on side of reservoir . Not really loose just a quarter to half turn .

    When I climb up hill my dd15 water temp goes up to 225 and goes down to 200-210 range. Does this sound like an issue? On plain road with 43000lbs my water temp needle is a little above 200. Say 205. Is this normal? Or should I be replacing the thermostat?

      On hills thats about right.. then the fan will kick on no later than just before the red zone on the gauge (cant remember off hand that exact temp)
      But on level ground your temps should be easing back down to about 180 on a DD15.
      Mine is startin to warm up too, which is what led me to this video

    Hi Francisco I'm Jovan I follow you on TH-cam. I had a question. About 2 weeks ago my truck has been needing starter fluid to turn on. It happened randomly one day it was turning on fine the next day all it does is crank but won't turn on without a little starting fluid. I have a DD15 engine on a 2012 cascadia. If it's not too much of a bother what do you think it could be

    Hey Francisco, I was wondering where is coolant filter located? Coz on brother's 2014 Freight its located near oil filter housing , but on mine 2016 I cant find it at the same location. I really could find an answer on the internet

      I think not every cascadia has coolant filter

      From 2016 and above, Detroit Diesel engines (DD13/15/16). They removed the coolant filter section from the oil module assembly. In other words, you do NOT have to worry about it anymore.

    Whats normal temperature for dd15 mine stays at 200 and sometimes 220 on flat ground

      Normal is about 170-180 which is a temp im comfortable with and the same as an 80's chevy v8.
      Mine is going higher than that.. almost around 200 which is what led me to this video
      Francisco says ( in another video ) that 220 is normal.. but ive driven many dd15 cascadias and around 180 is normal

      ... also note, before mine was normal at around 180.
      Waterpump is leaking on and off.. not leaking now, for the past week.. and temp is around 180 but in traffic is when it will start creepin up, close to 200. I dont really like that.
      Got a new wtr pump, but now im thinkin i should do the Thermostat at the same time

    I had a question why does my radiator hose on the top get sucked in when my engine is off and it cools off i Replaced coolant reservoir cap and it still does it???

      That is because the cap on the side of the tank does not allow air flow back to the tank.

      depende el mantenimiento. mi camion trae un dd15 con 1099764. gracias a dios todavia trabaja muy bien. lo compre con 380,000 millas

    I just replaced the thermostat on my 2011 DD15 and it has a very small leak? I cleaned where the old seal was . Do I need to put silicone on it?

      I always use at least a decent layer of silicone on all waterpumps, thermostats, etc.. tho alot of mechanics say not to.. and it always seals great.
      Soo.. I would if i were u.
