Murder is defined by intentional killing of a human. There's no such thing as 'murdering' an animal. It's called killing, slaughter, culling or euthanasia. In this instance the cops did the right thing (for once).
Also the owner was banned from owning dogs after he was convicted of sexually abusing dogs prior to this. This entire situation is entirely his fault. The cops should not be expected to risk getting bitten by vicious dogs just to apprehend some filthy scumbag.

I commend Robert Gordon for his statement and being consistent showing empathy to what happened and understanding the language of dogs. While Kevin Hurley emphasizing to "Prevent further injury". Why would the Police don't brought materials that will help them to protect themselves (not guns to use instead), sleeping injection and things like cage to put the dog if they really want to assessed the dog. The mistake is that, they don't think in advanced. If their job is to prevent injury. It must be in holistic approached.

@@enac1544 Thank you Natasha and well said. The owner of these dogs previously had a ban from keeping dogs, and he broke that ban. The police done right by safe guarding of the public. This guy has since been charged under the dangerous dogs act and will appear in Crown Court.

From my view of the videos…The man was minding his business and his dogs were clearly leashed. The man was being responsible with his dogs. It looks like the irresponsible woman approached the man’s dogs first and when his dogs gently sniffed, the woman went into a rage and over dramatized the scene. She could have walked an alternate route and left them alone. She made a false police report on him claiming she was attacked by the dogs. She should be held accountable for false reporting. The cops did not accurately investigate the occurrence to begin with. They killed two innocent dogs and tasered the man based on hearsay. The police escalated the whole situation. They should be held accountable. The man didn’t want to let his dogs go w them and I do not blame him. The dogs did not do anything. I wouldn’t give up my best friend that easy.

The dogs were murdered in the street, and their only crime was to not understand what was happening. As pointed out in this video, they could have potentially hurt someone, but they didn’t. If potential threat is now a justifiable reason to take a life, then it would be justifiable to kill most pets without provocation or cause. The police have carried out an unwarranted show of force, which as much as I hate to admit it could be somewhat understood - ppl do stupid things when panicked. The really concerning thing is that their digging their heals in and not owning the fact that in this occasion they got it wrong. The danger is that if they justify this, then there is no need to change. I don’t want to be part of a society that thinks it’s okay to shoot ppl’s pets without good reason; nor do I want to live in a society where those responsible for upholding the law do not acknowledge when they’ve got it wrong. The police should drop charges, apologise - publicly, offer an amount of compensation, reprimand the officers involved and review their procedures on dealing with animals: it’s not enough, but trying to justify this is almost as bad as murdering those innocent animals.

Be realistic. The police were trying to control the man, the last thing they need was to try to fend off two pit bulls if they decide to get aggressive while the man goes after them with a knife. Correct me if I'm wrong but most police officers don't carry firearms in the UK right? So why were they able to dispatch armed officers there without animal control as well at the same time? I'm not really buying that this was the correct call. I mean the guy already had them on leash why would you not try to deescalate the situation (or in the very least until animal control arrived). The cops are also said to have searched for these dogs, who allegedly attacked, the day after the report came in.......so, they took a gun, on the day after a fake report came in about a woman being mauled, then changed to her dog being attacked, both of which were false.
Taking a gun means the possibility of dischagring it. Why were the RSPCA not called to take them under control and into custody while the case was investigated? Even dogs are innocent until provenn guilty! Not for the cops though....acting like Judge Dredd...liars and morons.

They could have let him put the dogs away on the boat like he wanted. Instead they antagonized the animals by confronting their owner in a hostile manner. Most dogs in that situation would try to defend their owner, especially when outnumbered. However none of the video shows the dogs being aggresive rather than barking in defense. This is pure evil and those officers should be held accountable for their wreckless actions.
Also fire your reporter. Its clear that person has never owned a pet before.

Fully agree, I have a staff and she doesn’t have a bad violent bone in her body, she shakes if people shout and when you say ‘owwww’ all she does is bark and jump about, she’s never once went for a person, or any other animal. I guess I don’t understand why they were confronting the owner in the street with the dogs under control. If the dogs were actively attacking a woman, I wouldn’t question their judgement in shooting them. But if they arrived on scene to under-control dogs, why press the issue at the time? Animal control could come get them once it was verified those were the actual dogs in question, and a judge has to order dangerous dogs to be destroyed-at least in the States, so I only assume elsewhere. Shouldn’t they have told the owner to secure the dogs indoors, then question him to determine that they had the right dogs in the first place? Attacking the owner with a taser would no doubt set off the dogs. Poorly handled, I think.
They appeared to have shot one dog already and the man then 'released' the other and ran back the way he came - two officers passed round and chased and tasered the owner.

The police officers were just following their training. It’s the procedures that need looking at.
