Thank you so much man! I was about to sell a great (incredibly heavy) guitar....but after watching your video I decided to buy the n.1 strech strap and...it feels now so light, like a normal guitar! Thank you, as your direct experience and you, sharing it , it is very useful.
I tried before the Mono strap but, unfortunately the guitar was feeling even heavier!
Thank you again, I do suggest anyone to try this strap as it makes miracles!

I play bass and the shoulder pain I get from just playing standing for 10 minutes is so bad. I think it's because I'm really short and thin lol. But I'll definitely try an elastic strap. I have just a regular fabric strap but I can still hardly play standing up because it's just so heavy. I didn't even know elastic straps existed. I'm definitely getting one!

A wider leather strap will distribute the weight more across your shoulder or you can buy a waste belt type designed for bass players. It won't put any weight on your shoulders. 😉

Try one of those gruv gear duostraps they’re the best thing ever just having a more balanced instrument whether bass or guitar

This video is funny to me because I've been using an elastic strap for over 10 years as I too saw Buckethead using one. I first got one for the "cool factor" and too learned how it made my heavier guitars much more tolerable to play.

What the heck! They don't sell these here! :( I bought a heavy guitar and decided to get a wide padded leather strap thinking it'll make it feel less heavy, but aside from being comfy it's definitely not helping on the weight front. I'll definitely look into getting one!

I had no idea these existed, I bought a very wide guitar strap and it helped a little, but I still feel all the weight on a single spot on my shoulder, I'm going to try an elastic one!

  • @sladeoriginal

weight of the guitar body has little to do with the tone or sustain. Simply holding your pick a different way has more impact on your tone than the weight or type of wood.

YOOOO I WISH I BEEN SAW THISSSS i'm going to try something instead of buying a new strap because i like my leather strap it goes so well with my guitar, going to sew some good elastic onto my strap, each end, of course leaving maybe a 3 inch-ish gap between the elastic and my strap and see if that works.

Everytime I'm progressing in my guitar playing my scoliosiss flares up and I give up playing for months. I feel like it's impossible for me to play without making it worse. Most guitars are the same exact shape my spine is in so it's super painful.

Think I might try this. I have a B.C. Rich Warlock NJ Deluxe 4-String Bass with Widow head stock and it is HEAVY. It looks great, sounds great, and makes my shoulder and back ache. =P

Weight has nothing to do with sustain. In the 50s, when they had tons of quality wood in USA, the average Strat or Tele was 6 1/2 lb. Springsteen's hollowed-out Tele/Esquire weighs under 6 lb. Who would say it lacks sustain? The player sustains the guitar. Literally. Elastic straps are so un-Rock 'n' Roll.

i'm not even that skinny but wearing my strat for 1 hour kills my shoulder. It's a shame I'll have to change it though, I really like my current strap but it's worth it if the pain goes away.

I own a early 2000's Gibson Les Paul studio in white with a ebony fretboard...it is weight relieved and it is the most reasonant guitar that I have ever owned....so that deal with mass equating to being more reasonant is bull pucky....

    • @BoltRM

I think weight relieved & semi-hollows make them sound more resonant 👍

Heavy guitars aren't any better than lighter guitars for vibration or resonance. The the vibrations of the strings are picked up when they move in the magnetic field of the pickups. The vibration energy of the strings is then changed into a signal that passes from there to the amp. I have a light weight solid body guitar that if far more resonant than my 2 other heavier solid body guitars. In the end they all have different tonal characteristics when played though any of my amps. It's strictly just the pickups and the amp and the speakers. It's already been proven scientifically.

If your electric guitar resonates the luthier is crap. Resonating absorbs energy from the strings thus reducing sustain. Greetings, a luthier.

It does make a difference in how the guitar resonates. Wood density makes a difference.

If your heaviest guitar has the most sustain tho wouldnt you like to play it?
