Dude I feel the exact same way with 4, played it a few times and I still don’t remember some of the story only halo I haven’t played was V. Just started it on game pass!
I literally just beat it 2 min ago for my Road to Infinite playthrough lol. I loved 4 when it came out. It was a personal story for Chief and Cortana, and the ending still gets me. Midnight stands as one of my favorite levels just for the opening alone.
Beat it yesterday, first time =) Actually story here felt much stronger than all other games combined, so I'm pretty baffled with opening segment here. Although necessity to watch all the terminal videos on youtube to get a full picture is a sin.

The balancing, yeah, wasnt the best. But the story? Voice actors? Visuals, even now? I had absolute blast. I like chief even more when he actually talks with Cortana. Great game.
For me the gameplay is pathetic compared to the Bungie levels even on legendary. Too straightforward, never was I tactically challenged. Cover and shoot works all the time and you get the weapons/ammo for it.
Halo 4 is fucking awesome. I don't understand any of the critism. Literally any of it. The story was great, gameplay top notch, and the graphics were absolutely unbelievable and still hold up.
Halo 4 was my first halo game I was 11 when it came out I know the game had it's issues but overall I thought the characters of master chief and Cortana were done really well
My first Halo was Halo 3 when I was just 6 years old, played the campaign with my older brother on legendary difficulty which for a 6 year old and a 12 year old is not bad I think

The ONLY part I hated was that they showed the Didact. I loved the idea of forerunners being mysterious. I loved that they had no identity yet. Prometheans were just like robots doing their bidding. However, they straight up show him like he's nothing new....

Halo 5’s multiplayer was a solid entry. Halo 5’s campaign can’t be defended. It’s garbage. Halo 4 is solid. Maybe just because it came after the legend that is Halo 3 it was seen as inferior.

It's like having God of War without Kratos. Can't wait to play Infinite and see how they continue the story on from 5

There were no warnings about the flood to ancient humans from the Forerunners. The Forerunners didn’t know about the flood or what it was until after the Human - Forerunner conflict began. It was not until after the war that the Forerunners found out the flood were a mutated perversion of the Precursors. Forerunners wiped out the Precursors; they hadn’t fought the flood until after they fought ancient humanity. Stick to the games and stay out of the books unless your going to be accurate. Half-assin the story takes away from how good it is. 🤦🏽♂️

They despised them because Humanity were actually the chosen bearers of the Mantle of Responsibility by the Precursors and ignored the facts as presented to them. They justified the genocide as Humanity trying to invade Forerunner territory, not knowing they were trying to contain the outbreak.
Wasn't it something like the Precursors were the creators of everything, Forerunners included, and the Forerunners killed the Precursors, but the Precursors leave behind a kind of Dust, this Dust becomes corrupted and turns into the Flood

I still play Halo 4 multiplayer all the time on MCC. The game feels better now than it did at launch lol.
