    Professora Beah, You're style of teaching is a million times better than learning from a Grammar Book of confusing rules which KILLS the interest and motivation to learn or ONE to BECOME BORED even when one is dedicated LOSING THE INTEREST. But You came to the RESCUE by the way you PRESENT Brazilian Portuguese with Your English Narrations which is the BEST SUREST WAY to learn for all - the Real World Day To Day Brazilian conversational style. MUITO OBRIGADO!!! Warm Hugs to You.

    Bea, if I wanted to say songbird in Brazilian Portuguese would I say Musica do passaro? The songbird is female. Thank you!

    • @PlainPortuguese
      @PlainPortuguese  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Olá! If want to refer to *the song of the birds* you should say *o canto dos pássaros* - Exemplo: Adoro ouvir o canto dos pássaros pela manhã.
      Now *songbird* would be *pássaro canoro*

      2. Eu preciso DA ajuda DA Ana.
      O artigo definido antes de nomes próprios varia de falante para falante, região para região, conforme explico na seguinte aula - th-cam.com/video/6a437WSuQvs/w-d-xo.html
      Lembrem-se de que também é possível omitir o sujeito 'eu'.

    What's the difference between lembrar and lembrar-se ?? And other verbs also

    • @PlainPortuguese
      @PlainPortuguese  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both have the same meaning; the only difference, though, is that 'lembrar-se' will always require the preposition 'de'.
      Ex. Eu lembro o seu nome.
      Eu me lembro do seu nome.
      A sidenote - before verbs, we must use 'lembrar-se de'.
      Ex. Eu nunca me lembro de comprar pasta dental.
      Vocês de lembraram de confirmar suas passagens?

  • @brandon9638

    Maybe I missed something or I'm just slow, but this preposition doesn't seem to translate in English. Take "Eu gosto de pão" for instance. When translated, it's "I like to/from bread". What am I missing here?

    • @PlainPortuguese
      @PlainPortuguese  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Olá, Brandon! Prepositions are words that generally connect a verb or a noun (or pronoun) with another noun (or pronoun). And how these connections happen varies from language to language.
      For instance, in Portuguese, unlike English, the verb 'gostar' ('to like') requires the preposition 'DE'. Ex. Eu gosto DE pão x I like bread.
      On the other hand, the verb 'to listen' in English ('escutar' in Portuguese) requires 'TO', whereas in Portuguese 'escutar' requires no preposition to connect to what comes after it. Ex. I listen TO jazz x Eu escuto jazz.

    Why is it: "Eu gosto DE café." instead of "Eu gosto café." ? You like the coffee as a whole, not a part of the coffee. Why is "de" necessary here?

    • @PlainPortuguese
      @PlainPortuguese  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Olá! Some verbs in Portuguese require the use of prepositions while some other don't.
      For example, *gostar* requires the use of *de,* but *preferir* doesn't.
      Eu *gosto de* café.
      Eu *prefiro* café.
      In the sentence above, *de* is needed because of the verb *gostar.*
      You will find some more about *gostar* in the link below.
