    We get the new birch ceiling panel installed and along the way some new "gimp" or welting. Next comes framing, insulation and vapor barrier. Once that is all completed the aluminum top goes back on. I like to do the paneling and framing from the top down. The work gets eaier as you go that way. Always do the hard stuff first and get it out of the way. That's Larry Logic.

    I have the sidewinder type, and to me they're easier to handle because they're lighter. But any time I want a precision straight cut, I'll clamp a guide to the piece and pretend it's an upside down table saw.
    Battery life and memory seem to be problems mainly with the little cameras, a tradeoff for size. I have 3 battery packs, each one good for 160 minutes of nonstop recording. The hard drive has a 45 hour capacity, and it can also use up to 32 GB memory cards, at about 10 hours each.

    The sag is due to the water damaged panel and framing. Also might be lacking a curb on top of the vent framing to raise that portion of the metal skin so water runs off. You need to pop the top skin off which is everything from the top of the front window to the top of the rear window. All one piece. Then remove and replace the iniside paneling, framing, and vent curb. Then put the skin back on and you're done. Just follow what I did here. Also the Deville videos show the same thing. Good luck.

    @mobiltec,
    New camera? I hope this one works out. Make a note: 32 GB memory cards can be had for $40. 16 gig cards are like 12 bucks. And don't use consumable batteries. They'll eat you alive. Get Lithium Ion rechargeables. High capacity and long life. Buy once.
    At least you don't have to buy film. Boy do I remember those days, and I have the obsolete cameras to prove it, including 2 movie cameras. LOL

    I use 1/4 inch wide by half inch long staples for the seems and then they get covered up with one inch strips of birch and you use 7/8 inch twisty nails for those. I space them at about 6 inches apart. Same for the other framing fasteners. 7/8 inch twisty nails. Just be careful not to punch them through the paneling. I use the Air Palm nailer for those and there is a Trailer Tidbits video on it. Go to my website to see it in Trailer Tidbits. Twisties for the walls too.

    I see you kept the vent in the same place. All in all, I think this trailer is coming along pretty well Larry, and maybe it's e, but I feel like I am understanding this build better then the last, not sure why, but I am really enjoying it!

    Hey Larry, the round edge on the cabinets, how are they made?

    • @mobiltec
      @mobiltec  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few ways that is done. One is just using a big 4 inch thick piece of wood for the corner and rounding it off. The other is to laminate birch paneling to the rounded corners of the top and bottom using heat to bend the paneling with. Not an easy task.

    @anmoose Funny thing is, the general consensus is that my viewers really dont want me to do HD. LOL... Most of them don't have the band width to be able to watch it without buffering. I have the same problem I won't be able to watch my own videos without buffering LOL... Most of the vids I do with this new one will be in VGA anyways so Im now wondering what the whole point was in the first place.

    if you replace a ceiling panel, do you have to remove the roof or can you just replace it from the inside?

    • @mobiltec
      @mobiltec  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      To do it properly you must remove the roof. Many factors involved. Yes you can do it from the inside but it's wrong. It's not how it was put together. The ceiling panels are part of the structural integrity of the trailer. A BIG part. All the cabinets are fastened from the top down. Not from the inside up. Removing the roof is not really a problem and should be done anyhow to inspect for more rot damage. You see more from the inside than you do from out. Watch my Taking My Act On The Road series. Then watch the 57 Westerner series.

    so the wood you are using on the ceiling is 1/8" birch paneling? not plywood correct?

    • @mobiltec
      @mobiltec  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. Some people call it plywood but it's actually veneer on a ply panel. Anyhow it's 1/8 inch. 1/4 inch Is OK for the walls but it won't bend around the radius of the front and rear.

    @slmdj I have a new camera on the way. Let's see how that works out. I can see now that Im going to need much bigger memory cards. That's where they get you. Just like in the old days of film. They sell you the camera at a price you can afford. But the film and the processing was where they made thier money. In the digital world they make thier money on memory and consumables like batteries.

    Mobiltec, what type of nail gun and fasteners are you using for the ceiling? Would you recommend the same fasteners for the sidewalls. Thanks, matt Shasta 1400

      Sorry I never saw this post. I use a 1/4 crown stapler for the seams and 7/8 inch long twisty nails for the field...

    My batteries last 4 hours and my card 2 hours at 720p 30fps but if I'm not recording it shuts off after 10 minutes. It has no setting to turn that off. Sucks when I use the remote control and realize it was recording because it was shut off.
