- Unreleased song by Pete Doherty & The Libertines
You'll never fumigate the demons
No matter how much you smoke
So just say you love me
For three good reasons
And I'll throw you the rope
You don't need it
Cos you are the survivor
Of more than one life
And you're the only lover I had
Who ever slept with a knife
But you're not Judy Garland
Oh Just like me you've never really had a home (of your own)
But I'm not Tony Hancock baby
Until the dawn
We'll stone the crows
We'll stone the crows
We'll stone the crows
And you see I've brought you flowers
All collected from the Old Vic Stage
Well I've been sitting here for hour's baby
Just chasing these words
Across the page
Cos you're my Waterloo
I'll be your Gypsy Lane
I'm so glad we know just what to do
And exactly who's to blame
And you're my Waterloo
I'll be your Stanley Park
Well I'm so glad we know just what to do
And no ones left
Stumbling around
Fumbling around
Tumbling around
In the dark
Always in the dark
You're my Waterloo
I'll be your Calvary
Well I'm so glad we know just what to do
And everyone's gonna be happy
Everyone's gonna be happy
Everyone's gonna be happy
But of course
There's no poetry more beautiful than the first verse of you're my Waterloo
After every sad or challenging time in my life i've listened to this song. Through, love and loss. I saw this song live for the first time in 2014 and it was the first time I ever cried watching live music. It annoys me that people associate peter with drugs, rather than the music. This is evidence of his talent and is one of the most beautiful songs i'll probably ever hear. I have so many happy and sad memories associated with this song, so cheers Pete. Long live the libs x
Their music is great their lyrics are amazing there is so much passion and emotion in every song
So.much better than the new version! Thanks for uploading!
Peter's voice on this still tears my heart out of my chest every time. A fucking masterclass.
Pete Doherty voice is simply amazing. It makes anything he sings so so so beautiful.
Still come back to this version, the best version
Better than the version they've recorded for Anthems for Doomed Youth
I love both, they're like completely different songs.
+Connor Downey Nah, I think the piano works better. The original is good too though.
+Connor Downey so much of their new stuff is them being unhappy with their lives. I miss these days when they were full of life.
+hunterxtr33mtonks42 Well, yes, but that's just life, sadly unavoidable.
+hunterxtr33mtonks42 for real? writing in 3rd person doesn't mean your not talking about yourself!
Beautiful 😍 and the harmonies are orgasmic.
Used to hear this song while falling in love with who's been my greatest love, keeps reminding me of her
R u still with this ‘ the greatest love ‘ ❤️
One of the best songs I have encountered to this day. The voice Pete manages here is not shiite.
Brilliant. Haunting.
Pete sounds like he's doing a David Bowie impression here. In fact, if Bowie had released this as is in the 70s it would be a classic today.
I think it's more his Brett Anderson impression
+George Unitt nah spoilt it for me......... Pete doing that, the lyrics are beautiful
+George Unitt robably right there if you choose a style different t your own it doesnt seem to get much light!
@@connord94 five years later..
Spot on!
❤ pure love for this song. It hurts so good...
love this song! they're the best band ive ever heard!
can't wait for them to get reunited!
"You're My Waterloo" is an unreleased song by The Libertines...
it's an early Libertines track, recorded by the band during their Odessa Studio Recordings!
But i dont know when it was recorded :-\
someone i dont speak to any longer once made a playlist for me and put this song. i still miss them sometimes
ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS I EVER HEARD
this tune reminds me of Bowie, he's the best of McCartney,Dylan,Strokes,Clash ,Romance with intelligence, wit, talent, an artistic, and profound depth rolled into one beautiful package of chaos.
lola2win I love all those artists you have listen to describe Bowie's work.. especially the strokes
They are good they should make an album
Long Live The Libertines.
Well best version... Pete D giving his best Bowie impersonation... I thought it was Alison Moyet singing @ 1st.
Beautiful song.
Pete channeling his inner Brett Anderson
The stumble and shake - land of the lotus water was a horrible surprise having just listened to this masterpiece. List
How can one person dislike this?!?!!?
It's amazing!!!!
This version ❤️😭
Incroyable 😌
Found this song a few years back. What lyrics...Poetry or just a song? All I know is that it's something else.
Definite hints of Suede. Love it
The Opening line to this song drew me in from the Get-go. Long live the libertines. x
If this version ever gets put down I'll just have to end it all
Lolllll really made me laugh because it’s so true. Would give anything for this on Spotify
oh...oh, wow. i cried.
Pete sang this song on my request
Pete's in fine voice. I miss that early style of his
I love this song....C:
Amazing
sounds like suede love it
I had no idea this song was unreleased :O
this original version is far superior than on the libs album. love it.
Oh goooooood
Far better than the released version. Sounds a bit like Suede though...song wise.
This song will be in the new album! Carl said it! :D
and it is! But in a completly different version
and also amazing!
this was one of their first songs mate about 5 years before they split
The final song of "there are no innocent bystanders..." great Roger Sargent ! :)
My thoughts exactly. Sounds like it could be from The Deram Anthology: 1966-1968.
I can hear it, love it :)
You didn't know this song before that. wow
He's the lead singer on the sister sister demo track. Am sure he sang for a few other demos but i can't find them
Sounds like it could be John singing
Up the Albion
Why the fuck didn´t they release this great song?
@chrisfromhell77 it's such a lovely song :)
It made me cry once :\ ahaha
Me gusta más que la versión posterior.
Me too!
This must be a pre-Rough Trade Libertines track
Can anyone else hear the Bowie influence?
@albionengland i have never ever heard John Hassal sing for the Libertines... which track do you have in mind ?
@chrisfromhell77 Hi! That proves you are a real man. Anyone who claims to not have a song that gets to them is probably lying to themselves. Or afraid they wouldn't look cool if they admitted it. Go you!
Guts for Garters is proud to present at the Cob Gallery,
Peter Doherty: On Blood
26th February - 4th March
❤FL ❤
Takes the album version to the cleaners
Is there any way of getting an mp3 of this?
@numbeuphoria no, definitely peter. can't you tell? it's pretty obvious.
Anyone got the tabs/chords for this version? I can’t find them anywhere
chords are c to e to am then a quick f to e for the verse, chorus is just a simple e to a i believe, hope this helps
@@garyrodgers9715 thank you!
"by Pete Doherty & Libertines"
Are you mentioning the fact that Pete was in too to avoid confusion with the time when they kicked him out for his drug habit?
Dave Kent I think he put that because the words is only written by pete
It sounds extremely influenced by David Bowie
They were cool :(
They are still cool
to me it sounds very david bowie-esqe, especially the singing...
i raped 'replay' button
Lacks drama this version
like what?
I always assumed Pete was singing this, but recently it's started to sound like Carl singing. Does anyone know who it really is?
***** its pete, really easy to hear :)
It's Peter, they were just really young when they recorded this
+Francis Procter I think it's both of them
Peter, influenced by Brett Anderson of Suede I imagine
I thought it was Carl singing the first couple times I heard it too ;)
I think the piano works better
+mrbbthomas The piano doesny work better mrbumboythomas
No you don't
Sounds more than a little like a Suede song...nice though
Isn't it Carl..?
