“Camino” for solo Flute - Violeta Gil García (Carl Nielsen International Competition Prize Ceremony)

“Camino” is a musical Collage composed for the Carl Nielsen International Competition 2022. Meaning “way” or “path” in Spanish, Camino describes my way, literally step by step, from where I come from (Jerez de la Frontera, the origin of Flamenco music) to where I was right in that moment (Denmark, Nielsen competition).
Starting from nothing, the piece itself creates this path between the music style from my hometown, towards the music of Nielsen, creating a “Camino” as the long way that took me to this place in my life, from my life as a student (reflected by the quotations of pieces for flute by Debussy, Ferroud, Telemann, CPE Bach…) to my situation in that competition (reflected by Nielsen’s music), all together in a Music Collage composed for this occasion.

Absolutely BRILLIANT! There are some aspects of this piece that remind me of Syrinx and Danse de la Chevre. Bach and Teleman as well? WOW!!!

Thank you so much! Exactly!! It’s a musical collage, you can read about it in the caption :-) it was composed for the Carl Nielsen Competition, we had to use quotations from Syrinx, Telemann, Nielsen… there are a lot of melodies from Nielsen’s symphonies as well!
