  • After hearing the sad news of the death of former Yorkshire TV announcer, Redvers Kyle, I've dug out this 1993 clip of Calendar, featuring both him and fellow announcer Graham Roberts. A rare in-vision appearance for the pair, they're interviewed here by Richard Whiteley. None of these gentlemen broadcasters are with us any longer - Graham Roberts died back in 2004 and Richard Whiteley in 2005.

It's a fact that Richard, Graham and Redvers are sadly no longer with us. These guys were the driving force behind Yorkshire Television in the glory days.

Wow this is a real treat, Yorkshire Television legends all in one clip. Very saddened to hear of the death of Redvers Kyle, what a voice. Redvers, Graham Roberts and Richard Whitely, three legends who'll be truly missed. Not to mention a nice little added bonus of Bob Rust at the end. Magical

In the days of old YTV--the world seemed a safer more innocent place---just an illusion of course...but Redvers and Graham made you feel all was okay, don't panic. everything is fine. Home Sweet Home.

Fantastic to see Redvers again after all these years. I had the greatest of pleasure working with him, on so many voice over recording sessions. This was when I worked for a film & video production company in Huddersfield back in the 70's and 80's. It was always exciting when he came along and entertained us with his wonderful stories of his great and varied career in the media. A lovely gentleman, bless him...

"This is Yorkshire Television - part of the ITV Network". Now I can put a name to the voice. Sadly, received pronunciation in television presentation is a dying art and the glory days of regional ITV are long gone. YTV was an excellent regional broadcaster.

I love that Old Boy Network of presenters, announcers and other things that Yorkshire Television had - you never got that with newer companies like Central. I could imagine someone like Michael Jayston lending his talents to YTV with the voice that he had.

I hate these pikey continuity announcers ITV are using these days! They sound bloody awful!

Sad news to hear of Redvers Kyle death. One of the best voices of ITV ever. He had such a warmth to his voice and will be sadly missed but his legacy will live on forever. R.I.P Redvers and also sadly Graham Roberts and Richard Whiteley are both gone too.

Redvers Kyle played Giddy in The Giddy giddy game show.

I remember the Giddy Game Show which was some type of Hyperactivity Book Series for young children and yes Redvers voiced the role of Giddy.

Yorkshire Television one of the best regional ITV franchises on the network I absolutely love this region especially because this is our local ITV station and the presentation is brilliant as is the continuity.

Redvers was the man. Glad YTV didn't have in-vision announcers which to me seemed old fashioned and tacky
