- So which one is better? An 18 volt Ryobi push mower or a 40 volt one? Well, it isn’t a simple answer. It really depends on your situation, so watch how they compare and decide for yourself.

Thanks that’s information I was looking for.
How do these do in the tall grass in the pouring rain? I mow twice a week in the rain most of the time. In Washington state my grass grows about an inch a day in the summer months. I also use a grass catcher attachment. Would be a mess without it and wouldn't get very far without bogging down. Bought a nice used Honda Harmony 30 yrs ago and still going strong. Some day will have to replace it so just looking at options.
@@olallaeddy the 18 volt one doesn’t do well in wet grass at all. I just mowed yesterday with the 40 volt one just 5 minutes after water sprinklers watered the grass. It did considerably better than the 18 volt mower, but in all honesty with wet grass your best bet is probably to stay with a gas mower. There were a few times that the 40 volt mower had grass clumping up and thus, bogged down a little.
I'd like to see how it works with out grass here in Florida. You'd need a third battery to finish cutting even my small lawn. I'll stick with gas.
@@Rich22C electric mowers aren’t for everyone! They definitely don’t do too well with tall wet grass. Thanks for watching!
I have a new Toro battery mower, it sucks, drive wheel falls off in 2nd hour, battery shorts, and on-line Toro will not take it back. They do not take items back if you use it for 1 minute! Their rear left geared wheel unbolts itself from the bracket, it self destructs! Two others have the same problem. Their repair dealer literally told me "with Toro, its Buyer Beware". I have a Toro case number, a BBB case number, and a US Consumer Product Safety Commission case number. Save yourself and learn from my mistake, and stay away from Toro.
@@dougpence3862 that’s not good!!!
After your first pass and you have the space, try taking less than a full bite.
@@louislandi938 those passes that were made were done with both mowers set to their high setting.
The 18 volt mower was set as high as it could go, so that was as small of a bite as it could have done. So, I set the 40 volt mower to match the 18 volt mower to get a fair comparison on how they compared to each other.
started at 16 inch wide went to 18 inch wide
@@lumberdog198 The first mower was the 16”, the second mower is a 20”.
