What I think is amazing here is not that a random group can sound so beautiful, but how he achieves this through brilliant direction and teaching. Actually surprisingly few people have genuine tone deafness: it's one in twenty. More people can hold a note than can't, and the more people you have, the more likely it is that their slight discordances will average out into the correct pitch. It's why a small group singing happy birthday can sound like a train wreck, but a football crowd singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' is surprisingly musical. What he actually does brilliantly is the teach. Setting the three basic notes, then teaching one group to modulate up and down, then teaching another to do the same, before returning to the original group to reinforce their learning and take it a step further... That's what is so brilliant here. It's a masterclass in the fundamentals of good teaching.

Rarely in the world do you see a group of complete and utter strangers stand together in perfect harmony. This is the power of music. Power, unimpeded by ego. The true essence of god on earth. Yugen, if I've ever witnessed such a thing. This provoked me to tears. So beautiful and human.
This takes me back to my high school choir days (it was the largest choir our school had ever had - over 120 people). As a warmup, my choir teacher would put us through this exercise where we'd all start on the same note, and descend down the major scale until we each individually picked the note we wanted to stop on to create this dissonant yet ethereal sound. I miss making music like this with other people. :)
Ok so I’ve watched this video so many times over the years and I’m coming back to say that last night I just got to finally experience it in person, front row. It was the most incredible feeling in the world being in a massive room of people all in the moment, singing together. I’ll never forget that feeling. If you ever get the chance to see Jacob live, do it.
Just got home from his concert. This was my favorite part. I went alone & sang my heart out during this part of the show. I can go very deep lmao but it’s gonna get sad x). Long story short, it’s very beautiful to feel a part of something greater than yourself. This rids the loneliness feeling you may be experiencing, if you are so. Singing with everyone intently. That’s what this felt like. It rid of my lonesomeness. Thank you Jacob, best of luck on all your endeavors & much love. & to to anyone readin this haha love you too sincerely 🤎
In the Bible it says we will forever be singing to God with one voice, worshiping. This is a very human thing, the need to be part of something and the need to be one, directed by someone who know what he's doing. That's God. God loves you! Our lives have purpose. He sacrificed His only Son on a cross to pay for our sins, so that we can have eternal life. Jesus came back to life and He promessed to come back for us. If we believe in Jesus, repente from our sins and accept Him as our Lord and Savior, we will have eternal life. ✨
I’ve listening to this maybe 100 times. Constant shivers. I cannot get enough of this. This is incredibly beautiful. Please if anyone has anymore of this send it to me.
The goosebumps you get when you watch real magic happen seeing thousands of strangers come together as living breathing art. This...this is what life is about. Moments like these.
I don't care how old I get, this will forever be one of my favorite things. Seeing all of these strangers from all walks of life, each with different stories to tell, coming together and creating music purely for the love of beautiful things? It's a feeling like no other in this world.
I remember being part of this when he came to Portugal, was the best music experience of my life, cos it really makes you feel like you belong, like everyone there is part of something, is truly amazing, is more than just good music.
In this one, I hear a soprano who is just killing it......she sounds like the quality of perfomer that one would hear in the choir of a world class orchestra.
This is one of the most amazing videos Ive ever watched. It’s not the musicality or any one thing alone-the skill, the unity, the willingness, and the competence of Jacob and his audience combined to make something beautiful.
I was at one of his concerts. I've never been as mesmerized as when he harmonized us as a crowd. I literally felt like I was dreaming, it was so beautiful and unreal. Love you Jacob.
being able to watch him reharmonize songs, conduct actual people, and explain complicated music theory in a way that’s understandable has made me appreciate music for so much more than what it sounds like. it’s made me believe that music is a connection to something beyond what we know on earth. jacob collier, you are truly something special and i will never respect another artistic mind more than the one you were blessed with.
I still cannot believe it was not playback. If it all really was sung by the audience, l have mad respect for Jacob and every performer in the audience that took part.
just experienced this in columbus as an encore for his last show in the US tour about 3 hours ago. It’s unbelievable, the feeling that you get being in such a massive choir of harmony. Best concert of all time.

I need a 1 hour loop of this magic.
This is what they greet u in heaven with
The coolest part about this concert is that there weren’t many people and Jacob was able to jump off the stage and give a high five to everyone
Wow, this made me cry. The human voice is the most beautiful instrument.
He a genius because he is his truest self; he is magical because he can transform an entire room of people into becoming performers without them realizing it; he is good, because that's what he brings out in those around him.
Rarely in the world do you see a group of complete and utter strangers stand together in perfect harmony.
This is the power of music. Power, unimpeded by ego. The true essence of god on earth. Yugen, if I've ever witnessed such a thing.
This provoked me to tears. So beautiful and human.
Sounds like a dream mixed with a kiss
I guess that's the benefit of having a crowd made up only of other musicians
You sound like you're high
@@joyce_rx Yeah, but Collier highs have no hangover
thats the gayest thing ive ever heard
@@BardocksSynphony i thought it was a pretty sharp come back
In tears
Can't wait to be in the audience as an instrument to Jacob's gestures! See you soon Jacob
I like how the audience knows perfectly what note Jacob is thinking about when he points upwards or downwards
Man... I almost started to cry. That’s pure beauty. This world needs more ofJacob
I cannot imagine how fulfilling this must have been for both Jacob & the audience. First time hearing his madness and I’m a fan.
VIRGIN! Get some bitches n***er
I’ve listening to this maybe 100 times. Constant shivers. I cannot get enough of this. This is incredibly beautiful. Please if anyone has anymore of this send it to me.
Best thing I've ever seen. Feeling lucky to be alive at the same time as Jacob Collier :))
It's beautiful 😍
Saw the live in Japan it was unforgettable. I felt like I was a part of the live not just an audience. Never had that experience before.
And almost as if their hearts were beating as one, each voice rang out in a beautiful, synchronized harmony
This might be the purest improvised performance I’ve ever seen
Same
The goosebumps you get when you watch real magic happen seeing thousands of strangers come together as living breathing art. This...this is what life is about. Moments like these.
Being a part of Jacob's audience feels like being in a gregorian chant
1:52 this moment is magical
When you're sooo good, you can wear pajamas to your concert.
It's so relaxing I can listen to them all day
being able to watch him reharmonize songs, conduct actual people, and explain complicated music theory in a way that’s understandable has made me appreciate music for so much more than what it sounds like. it’s made me believe that music is a connection to something beyond what we know on earth. jacob collier, you are truly something special and i will never respect another artistic mind more than the one you were blessed with.
Seeing people come together and harmonize like this gives me chills and makes me wanna cry it's so beautiful
this is why i love vocal music. just dozens (or in this case hundreds) of voices melding to create an atmosphere.
If they don’t play this at my funeral I’m not coming
This is the most satisfied i've been with music for a while, this is really pleasant for my ears.
Such a sacred feeling this gives. So much love and peace in one room
It’s beautiful
I still cannot believe it was not playback. If it all really was sung by the audience, l have mad respect for Jacob and every performer in the audience that took part.
I've watched this so many times and still get shivers every time. I can only imagine what it must have felt like to be a part of this magical moment.
just experienced this in columbus as an encore for his last show in the US tour about 3 hours ago.
It’s unbelievable, the feeling that you get being in such a massive choir of harmony. Best concert of all time.
imagine having him as your music teacher! also, he is the best conductor ever!
This Is Incredible, he hears the melody In his head as If he were Mozart.
I was there for this. I had goosebumps and tears in my eyes.
I don't think I would be able to stop myself from crying if I was there. I want to cry right now. That was beautiful.
This is music on a totally new level. Its really awe inspiring how he brought together so many people to make something so intensely beautiful. This is what people mean by Angelic Choirs
why do i always cry when i hear beautiful music god it's incredible
