It's a "high skill" deck but it falls into the category freeze mage "fun". Playing against it is like eating chalk. Another deck that plays against its own card draw, and makes your opponent feel helpless. Secret mage does somewhat well if you can time to counter spells against kazakus potion and Dragon fire. I agree that I would like decks like this to continue but as long as they are fringe And don t dominate the ladder. And you forget, there are ways to tech against freeze mage, if mage Fm was majority of the meta would see them. Look at current jade druid. It has every tech card in the set.

It's probably the other way around since salt helps preserving food. Because he plays so much Hearthstone the transformation process was slowed to a minimum. If he wouldn't have been salty he might have been a carrot already
The thing is there will usually always be a best deck. If there are multiple top decks then it becomes Rock Paper Scissors. If you nerf a deck then another will step up onto the throne. Ex. You nerf jade Druid and then this deck takes over. The meta will always shift when new expansions are released and I get that it’s more enjoyable when there are multiple decks that compete in the tier 1 area, but soon another patch or expansion will make this deck irrelevant. Any hearthstone players of 3-4years will understand that no deck remains good forever. I try to enjoy the game rather than constantly attempt to micromanage the current state of the meta. Wow that ended up being a longer message than anticipated

That’s why I like this priest deck more than those because yeah it’s clearly the best right now, but at least someone who’s only been playing a month or two will be good at it overnight
Yeah, I feel like Velen is a 'win more' card most of the time in this deck. Sure it's good, and can gain some wins, but I find it almost always totally unnecessary, just kind of accelerates the inevitable if you already have the combo out (maybe saves some clicking)... More of just a good card for the deck than a win condition... Really, in this deck it's best sometimes to just play it on curve for tempo or even just to boost a single spell.
Still remember those days back in PoE/Diablo wherein Kripp was known for being such a good speaker. He even made a video about it. Nowadays, it's skipped. Not complaining, it's just times are different.
This is what happens when you give the full control deck a win condition that cannot be dealt with. Shadowreaper Anduin is absurdly overpowered because he acts not only as a board clear, but as a reusable damage spell. This deck would be worthless were it not for this card because it's 95% survival. However, the rest 5% of the deck can deal the same damage over time as the 70% of a normal deck. If this is not bad card design, I don't know what it is.
A 2 damage hero power that refreshes with every card played is still insane. The cost to refresh your hero power prior to this card was extremely high, with needing a specific card in play that was alive on your turn. Add to the fact that it's like a mega-upgraded shadow form for priest, and several "shadow-word death" wrapped into one is just a huge power creep in terms of card power level
Its alright, Blizzard will eventually balance this by adding a common neutral that whenever your opponent uses their hero power it deals 10 damage to their face.
I don't agree 100% with this line of thought. If you see too much of any deck, it's because it's effective, and it will bother you, regardless of what kind of deck it is. The only real problem is when there is a disparity in power vs accessibility (Jade druid was too accessible for its power, therefore it was everywhere. Priest is expensive yet still very represented).
I'm a F2P player and I always played almost only priest. At first I thought it would be fun to be the top dog for once after being for so long a low tier class. Turns out being the top dog isn't that fun, and I'm not even the real top dog since I don't own all the cards needed to play Highlander priest, I just use my own decks with Anduin and Lyra thrown in because I like them and they're still kinda good decks. Even if I had all the cards I'm not sure I'd like to play Highlander priest. Sure if I crafted/found the missing cards I'd like to test them out, who wouldn't? But after a bunch of games I'd probably go back to playing my own decks. Where's the fun in easy wins? Sure it's nice to get some "revenge" in ladder but after a few games? I'd rather stay at rank 14 but play my own weird non meta decks. Let me tell you something, you may have all the Tier 1 decks in the game but nothing beats playing Lorewalker Cho and watching people make weird plays because they don't know what to do about him

Raza nerf idea. If your deck has no duplicates change your current hero power 2 costing 0. Meaning if it changes you lose that affect. Making raza have to be played after aduin and also losing lots of free healing which helps get to playing aduin.
If the next expansion won't be another disaster like MSOG then the next standard rotation should be a pretty good one with things like Patches, Raza, Barnes and all jade cards leaving standard. Too bad wild will still be kind of fucked...

Razakest priest is pretty much quest rogue, but slightly less reliable, but with better win rates and better match-ups. You can say "its more interactive though" but its really not. If your playing against Raka priest the best strategy is just play all your shit and hope they don't have answers. Not that interactive.
In other games i usualy dont mind making people suffer but by playing these deck's i feel like id make myself suffer far more. Only one of the reasons i stopped playing and only watch hearthsone now (though i do watch a fair bit).
The only bad time this deck is bad is when you play an unnecesary Ultimate Infestation and discard Raza. But who would be stupid enough to do that? :^)
Here is my problem. This is an expensive deck, so not just everybody can play it. It is way outside my F2P account, and on my normal account, where I have over $300 spent on cards, I dont have a small fraction of the cards I need to make it work, it would take a lot of money to build it. It is absolute ass to play against. If you don't have a fast deck you lose to it. So you have to play ultra aggro, which sucks, or lose. No deck I find fun to play can compete. It is worse even than Jade Druid, and that is saying something. At least you can beat jade with midrange decks unless they pull everything perfectly. Seriously, I wont play ladder right now, and with arena as f'ed up as it is, that means I basically play for dailies. The meta should not be such that 30% of the players playing an expensive OP deck should just ruin the experience for everyone else. That is ANY deck. Just happens to now be Raza-Kazakas Priest.
How have you spent $300 on cards and only have a fraction of the cards needed for this deck? I've only spent $90 total since I started playing in January 2015 and I have every card needed for the best decks after every expansion. Standard helped a lot because it let me dust all the cards only permitted in Wild to get the remaining cards for any deck I want to play in Standard.
Scott Lewis I'm a f2p player and have all cards minis velen and lyra. Which are not required to play the deck. arena is in a petty solid state right now not including the death knight cards. I consistently get 8+ wins.
Honestly I think jades worse (not saying this is good). Secret mage with well timed counterspells stand a fair chance (if they don't have anduin) and it's all dependent on the potion/ card draw. It's expensive, but $300 really?

You just fishing for Raza and DK all game long and in the end finish your opponet by pinging him to death. Boring. Fuck Freeze Mage. Pointing out a deck archetype killing that archetype will never be seen as a negative in my eyes. Freeze mage flat out is a contradiction in the games core design. They said the game should be about board control, freeze mage can go a very long time with a board disadvantage and win without it. Now anduin is a similar problem that should probably be dealt with to some degree but its nowhere near as bad as freeze mage was.
anyone notice that when ever there is an overpowered combo deck, HS pros/Streamers claim its a high skill level deck, when its really not. Its basically them being bias cause they play the deck too, probably the most generic version. They said the same shit for Patron and Face hunter back in their prime
It's not a hard deck to get the basic hang of, but it's a hard deck to play optimally since you often have a ton of choices at any given point in the game, all of which could be reasonable. It's also a fairly hard deck to work with from a deckbuilding perspective since it can be built in many ways depending on the meta, and it has a lot of slots open for tech choices. Is it the most skill-testing deck there is? No, but it's miles ahead of decks like Murloc Paladin or Pirate Warrior that basically play themselves almost optimally by just playing your stuff on curve. Also worth noting is that players are meta-sheeps, so just because a bad player is playing a deck doesn't mean that it's low-skill. They don't play the deck because they're good with it, they play it because it's perceived to be strong and they want to play the strongest deck, even though in reality they'd probably do better with a lower tier deck that's easier to pilot optimally.
Kripp, you're my favorite hearthstone player, but please PLEASE don't ever sympathize with freeze mage. ice block is the sole reason that that cancerous deck is STILL AROUND. it is literally a zero-interaction deck that ruins the game for everyone.
To me, it seems Kripp is ALWAYS complaining about the best deck, saying that it is a problem deck. Similarly, he is always complaining about the best cards. If the cards he is talking got nerf, other cards would be the strongest cards, and then he would go on complaining about those.

I played Dirty Rat and pulled a Prophet from their hand, I killed it, and I still lost.
I know the struggle. Playing heavy control, dead hand warry and even with 30+ armor you can loose in 2 turns. The actuall fuck.

Freeze mage flat out is a contradiction in the games core design. They said the game should be about board control, freeze mage can go a very long time with a board disadvantage and win without it.
Now anduin is a similar problem that should probably be dealt with to some degree but its nowhere near as bad as freeze mage was.

The problem isn't this priest archetype is overpowered and overrepresented, the problem is priest has never had a viable archetype before this

anyone notice that when ever there is an overpowered combo deck, HS pros/Streamers claim its a high skill level deck, when its really not. Its basically them being bias cause they play the deck too, probably the most generic version. They said the same shit for Patron and Face hunter back in their prime
id day that Razakus is def higher skill level than say, Everyone Get In Here or the Aggro Flavor of the Expansion

It's not a hard deck to get the basic hang of, but it's a hard deck to play optimally since you often have a ton of choices at any given point in the game, all of which could be reasonable. It's also a fairly hard deck to work with from a deckbuilding perspective since it can be built in many ways depending on the meta, and it has a lot of slots open for tech choices.
Is it the most skill-testing deck there is? No, but it's miles ahead of decks like Murloc Paladin or Pirate Warrior that basically play themselves almost optimally by just playing your stuff on curve.
Also worth noting is that players are meta-sheeps, so just because a bad player is playing a deck doesn't mean that it's low-skill. They don't play the deck because they're good with it, they play it because it's perceived to be strong and they want to play the strongest deck, even though in reality they'd probably do better with a lower tier deck that's easier to pilot optimally.

Kripp, you're my favorite hearthstone player, but please PLEASE don't ever sympathize with freeze mage. ice block is the sole reason that that cancerous deck is STILL AROUND. it is literally a zero-interaction deck that ruins the game for everyone.

To me, it seems Kripp is ALWAYS complaining about the best deck, saying that it is a problem deck. Similarly, he is always complaining about the best cards.
If the cards he is talking got nerf, other cards would be the strongest cards, and then he would go on complaining about those.
When people are playing unfair decks like jade druid and preist what can you do but play a more unfair deck.. which is quest mage.. don't nef quest mage tho..
yes because evidently what a deck that can freeze your board for 4 turns straight then 2 more turns to pop ice blocks needed was another way to gain a turn so they can win a game they lost 5 turns ago
