I’m not sure why anyone would think that someone who’s watching their home and their community wiped off the map right before their eyes would worry about keeping the camera steady.

I know, and there's a lot of very strong aftershocks too. Some people don't have much in the way of brain cells.

The rude comments about not holding the camera still are incredibly insensitive. I can’t even begin to wrap my head around trying to film this biblical proportion natural disaster, let alone worry about holding the camera steady. I hope your town was able to recover. 🙏🏽

The camera was bouncing all over the place, because there were hundreds of aftershocks over 6.0. Within the first hour after earthquake, there were 2 M7+. The cameraman also didn’t pull in to show closer until water was already at peak. I wonder if he was trying to avoid filming people who weren’t going to make it. 🙏

Its a strange feeling giving a thumbs up on such a sad and devastating occurrence. I'm totally fascinated by natures power but this takes the cake. I have never seen such devastation on such a large scale as the Tsunami's in Japan. The videos are incredible to watch and are also the most saddening. So much was lost in an instant. I have huge respect for the many people that posted video's on this catastrophic event and never attached ADS to profit from this. After so many years I find myself still drawn to these amazing videos. They are just incredible to watch and I am so sad for all who lost loved ones on this terrible day. Things can be replaced. Mother nature giveth and she taketh away. Fortunately the Japanese people are very resilient and will recover better, stronger and smarter than ever before. God Bless the Japanese people.

1:13 approximately . . . the classic bamboo leaf pattern so frequently seen in Japanese art in tranquil settings. What a cruel contrast to the reality of the destruction taking place behind.

Some of the shaking in this footage is from the huge aftershocks.

At 4:55,bottom right corner of screen, there appears to be a man (in pink)?standing atop a utility line? Or a car? Its hard to tell as he really just looks like he's floating in mid air (optical illusion)?🤔

  • @POWER-LINKS

It's the zoom feature on full-zoom that causes the shaking images. Full zoom should only be used on a tri-pod, but you don't worry about stuff like that right after your country's worst earthquake ever. It caused massive damage in it's own right. The tsunami showed up only 20 to 30 minutes later and washed everything away. There was also the freezing temperatures that everybody was immediately thrust in to, since it was winter and Japan gets cold in the winter time. There was heavy snowfall in some towns and cities DURING the tsunami that was coming down so hard it looked like fog. Blizzard like.

I understand your point but I think it was due following tremors right after the big one. I read it was around 200 tremors from 7 to 5 intensity. I would've been shaking too!

They didn't face the wave head on and concrete can still be easily be moved from it's foundation which will cause cracks rendering it inhabitable. We mostly build with concrete in Puerto Rico because of the Hurricanes and Termites.

These horrific scenes are beyond comprehension, to witnes one's entire community obliterated by the sea which provides it's livelihood!
There is no defence against such forces of nature, other than to evacuate to high ground as fast as is humanly possible.
