    This panel can put out close to 100 watts th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOqI2yqX0XVrhR2BMJciTWrHJpG8FhJyg when positioned in the appropriate southernly direction, tilted to the optimal angle for your latitude/date, and connected to a higher capacity device than a 500. The built in kickstand angle is a fixed at 50 degrees. Up to 20% more power can be output by selecting the actual date and latitude optimal angle.The 500 will only input 3.5A maximum at 18 volts for 63 watts. Some of the excess power from the panel can be fed into a USB battery bank, charged directly from the panel while also charging a 500. This will allow you to harvest as much as 63 + 15 = 78 watts.If this panel is used to charge a larger device, such as the power station, then its full output potential can be realized.

    As a vagabond I'll say solar panel charges are actually very useful for specific types of lifestyles. Yes the solar panel method takes a very long time to charge, but if you're like me and walk 10+miles a day or you're camping, even homeless. You don't need it to be max charged, just enough to either keep your phone from dying or enough to turn it on long enough for an emergency call etc. If you keep it out enough you can probably maintain around 30% of its max charge just walking around. Enough to last you till you can get to a plug or enough to charge. Phone to like 15%>

    Thanks for the video, it was really helpful! Do you know the temperature range, as a charger/powerbank, for normal operation? Because some equivalent products don't work well for low temperatures (0 or less ºC) and/or high humidity environments. Thanks in advance!

    • @tavakessler
      @tavakessler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not entirely sure, but since this battery isn’t special from other batteries, I would say it would start to drop performance below 0°C and over 45. As for humidity, it is said to be waterproof, so I doubt that would have very much impact on performance.

    I bought a solar panel battery like this with 4 panels that folded out. Kept it on my dash to charge while I rode my bike on a trip. I came back to a swollen battery. This is how I found out that the batteries themselves cannot take heat. Since the solar panel is required to be in the sun (and heat), having the battery attached (and also in the heat) is not a good idea. You need the solar panel and charger to be separate in order to keep the solar panel in the sun and the battery in the shade.

    • @tavakessler
      @tavakessler  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That makes a lot of sense which makes the concept of built in solar panels even more ridiculous!

    • @NeonKue
      @NeonKue ปีที่แล้ว

      Same. Left mine on the car dash a whole summer and thought nothing of it until it hit one of our hottest weeks. I came back to a fat battery and panicked thinking it could explode at any moment.
      So even if you could efficiently charge through the built in solar panel powerbank, you run the risk of overheating the battery to even charge it. These solar banks only do well to capture short periods of light which will take weeks to charge safely.

    Someone opened one of these up and posted a photo in the Amazon reviews on 12/19/20. It showed a 4,000 mAh battery inside rated at 3.7VDC (not at 5VDC specified) for a total of 14.8 Wh (20,000 mAh @ 5VDC = 100 Wh). This would be only a fraction of the advertised capacity. Does anyone know what the real capacity of this charger is?

    • @CaptainPupu
      @CaptainPupu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Thanks for this review. It (as well as some of the comments here) answered questions about a portable solar charger I got second hand. The markings indicate 300,000 mah (yes, this is what it said on the unit) which I still find hard to believe. I noted the solar panel didn't seem to be doing anything and I wondered if it was broken. The review helped answer that question. That said, I think it was still a good investment as I have found a number of uses for it beyond charging devices. I bought a 28 watt USB solar panel charger which means I can charge it, as well as other small devices, much faster when not near a wall socket.

    If you only use your phone for occasional calls or texts, check weather, and keep it turned off or in extreme low power mode. One charge should last a week. Plenty of time to recharge the power bank. With a electrical outlet available everywhere in the city, that issue disappears. I like it. What type of batteries does it use? And are they new or recycled cells?

    Wow finally someone said it like it is, the solar on these sucks. I really don’t need mega milliamperes. I would really like to see a 10 or 15 k mil with a solar that actually works & is capable of charging the unit.

    Hey, nice video. How would you cut the power source without unplugging my charger cord? Like for example, I click the power button, and the solar charger turns on. Anything connected begin to charge/turn on. If I press the power button again, the solar charger does not turn off as I wish it could. How could I make the solar charger turn off so devices connected stop charging/turn off.
    I’m running a portable computer build.

      If you unplug the device that is plugged in, it will stop charging.

      Without unplugging. It’s fine, Dont worry ‘bout it, it’s no biggie. I might have invest in a larger scale one. That feature would be awesome.

      @@famousbowl9926 I think I was misunderstood from the beginning. Let me rephrase a bit. There’s Device 1. I connect Device 1 to the battery pack. Device 1 will begin charge. Good. Now, I would like the battery pack to stop delivering power to that exact port in which Device 1 is connected to *without disconnecting Device 1 from the battery pack*. There seems to be no way to do this *for this battery pack* as there is no switch or button to do so. (Which is no problem! I actually bought the product and is doing beautiful wonders at the moment) In the future, I will look forward to replacing my current battery pack with one that has that voltage-filtering mechanism I’m searching for.
      Thank you

    Honestly it does take forever to charge using solar but it is nice to squeeze some charge into it especially if you are a soldier and are in the field a lot and just want to have your phone on a rest day from excersizes
