I had the good fortune to be at one of his shows with my family a number of years ago at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We left the venue and bought some food at one of the nearby stalls. The crowd had cleared from the venue and O’Doherty eventually emerged (he was with bike I think). Anyway, I was proximal enough to thank him for his great show and tell him how much we had enjoyed it. He was kind enough to offer his hand for a handshake which I had to decline as my hand was very greasy from the food I was eating. Instantly, he improvised an air handshake. Not only was this genius but somewhat ahead of his time (pandemic -wise). Such prescience. I also think it was very kind. He had a nice smile and obviously appreciated being appreciated (which I appreciated). Still a favourite. Always worth a watch Slàinte

Where abouts in Dublin is David from?, I’m from Swords, it’s okay, nice folks, it looks like fort apache. I see David living around Harrington street or Portobello, near the canal somewhere, for some reason I don’t know haha.
