Yes and no my grand father when he came back from the Vietnam war, he was the opposite he never wanted any guns around him . I don’t think he actually touched a gun since he came back he was diagnosed with ptsd loud things and or flashes would sometimes set him off but he was mostly internalized. What I mean was he would get moments where he would just be sitting on the porch in his chair with his beer looking off into the distance just sitting still for several minutes at a time, you could walk in his in his view and he wouldn’t even acknowledge you. If you tapped him then he would jump out of it, you could tell he was reliving moments, i don’t know of what since he never spoke about it he would only say memories and chuckle.
A thing Id just like to mention. Actor who plays this soldier is an average height person, but appears 10 times bigger than anyone else due to his muscle build and straight posture alone

Besides I believe you could still see them outside up close, and even if not, they should've cased the inside while breaking in, in order to make the most of it and being safe. Trust me, thieves can deduce the whole layout of a house by looking up the plans of it, or just knowing how property there works. I'm sure they had plenty of oppurtunities to scope each route for things like that.

Not gonna lie, sounds quite interesting to see the same veteran from a completely different perspective.

Not really. Blindness don't effect on physical ability to hear so it's not like shouting will harm him. And as blindness effect on mental ability to process sounds it could be actually harder to confuse him like that.

But clearly he's very unstable. You have no idea what if he would do. If you were a woman there's a chance he'd kidnap you to use as another babymaker and if you were a man, he'd probably kill you first chance he gets, an unhinged war veteran is likely going to be very paranoid. At best, he'll just slam the door in your face and go on the defensive but if he gets an inkling you're trying to intrude, you're done for.

Ive known a lot of unstable people, war vets with trauma, schizophrenic's, narcissist's, psychopaths', sociopaths, murders, thief's and gang members. The thing about them is they are the easiest people to predict, they have patterns, once you get to know the patterns youre good.

Everyone’s different and cope with trauma and stuff, most people who are unstable like that/have severe ptsd and trauma are pretty nice if you treat them kindly. I guess there’s no way of telling for sure what would happen if you tried to approach him, especially when all we see of him in the movie is him being a terrifying, hardened killing machine in response to a break-in. The fact that he has extra locks and a scary looking dog with him all the time gives me the vibe that he’s not very open to people lol.

What I do is step with the back of my foot slowing putting pressure to the front until the whole foot is on the floor then I take my other foot and test with my toe if that place will creak or not and slowly advance and keeping my arms out to balance the pressure of my steps

I still get angry everytime I see that scene, where the girl is hitting the blind man while the alarm is loud, but when she is about to have the critical hit, the alarm stops, and she, instead of completing what was already on course, stops for drama just in time for the blind man to recover hearing. As usual, dumb characters being needed for horror movies.
