I'm fairly basic in my materials for Bible study. I use a NASB 95 study Bible with a notebook, Bible dictionary, Bible atlas and Henry plus Wiersbe commentaries. I use a few translations as well to keep my focus such as the LSB, NKJV and CSB. I buy two versions of each translation... one a study Bible and the other a plain text version so I can just focus on the Word of God at times. I've always preferred word for word translations and haven't gotten into focused Bibles like Life Application, Men's, etc. for some reason.
Thank you for sharing! I also have the Rose book! We have similar tastes in translations! I also agree with the Life Application NLT, I have the blue in personal size and it’s getting tough with that little font! I recently added the KJV version as well! ❤
Have had the Rose Book for over a year. Never really picked it up.. this November I started reading the bible ( 2time around) OH MY that little book is filled with great information!!! I also use the Life Application Bible as a daily Bible. I’d use a notebook as well. Last year ( my first year to read) I did a lot of journaling. This year I’m just processing & resting in the word. Great video! Thank you!
@@TheRetroBookshelf yes thrifty is my favorite I have gotten chronic logical bible free ,got a nicot the latest one in the trash someone was throwing away I looks brand new
I passed by a thrift store and all I found was a bunch of people donating their coffee maker. 😂 You are so lucky. What a great treasure you found. 😊💕🙏🏼
I'm so sorry if I missed this, but for all the different days and bibles that you use, do you read the same things or do you have different books that you read through? Or do you just read straight through and the next day you start on a different Bible where you left off the day before? Sorry if that is confusing! Thank you and love your videos!
I read the same book of the Bible in each one because their commentary is different from one another and I like to compared them. Each and everyone has great commentary. I like to always read Psalms and Proverbs at the end of the year through January. It’s always a refreshing outlook for the new year no matter how many times it’s read. The Bible Life in Christ I’m reading those 2 books as well and the book of John. Feel free to ask any questions anytime My Friend. Hope this info is helpful. Blessings 🙏🏼😊💕
Matthew Henry was one of the most influential Puritans, Calvinists, and Covenant Theologians ever! We need to have a new Reformation back to God's Word not twisted by Prosperity and Works theology. even back in the 80s most Mainline Churches still taught these basic doctrines. now it is masked by heretical groups/churches, cults, and NAR. SAD 1. Sola scriptura: “Scripture alone” 2. Sola fide: “faith alone” 3. Sola gratia: “grace alone” 4. Solo Christo: “Christ alone” 5. Soli Deo Gloria: “To the glory of God alone”
@@TheRetroBookshelf thankful you are telling others about Henry's wonderful teachings. I remember reading his commentaries in my teens and early college! Great channel
Hi and not to be disrespectful but God did not made Sunday as the holiday. It was Shabbat, which is Saturday and that is the only name he gave because after that he called the first day the second day and Sunday was actually the first day Monday the second day and so on.
Hi Thank you but never said Sunday is a holiday. Shabbath is a Holiday, but Christians generally celebrate the Lord’s Day on Sunday as a day of rest and worship. That’s what I meant. Until his Resurrection Jesus Christ and his diciples honored the seventh day as the Sabbath. Read Acts 20:7 and 1 Corinthians 16:2. 😊 The Lord’s Day is Sunday the first day of the week. It is a day of worship and reflection for most Christians commemorating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. 🙏🏼 The “Lord’s Day” is in the New Testament in Revelation 1:10. 😊

Thank you for sharing what a wonderful selection you have. The Life Application is really good. NASB is one I’ve never read, but eventually will. 😊
