This June finds the release of one of Marillion's strongest live releases so far: "A Sunday Night Above The Rain" provides the best possible sound and glorious high definition vision of one of the best progressive rock bands around on 2CD, 2DVD and Blu-ray. It will be released on June 27th, 2014 on earMUSIC.
Recorded on March 10, 2013 at the band's bi-annual Marillion Weekend at Center Parcs in Port Zelande, the Netherlands, this live CD is one not to miss. Thousands of fans travelled from over 44 countries around the world to be a part of this truly amazing night.
For the first time, Marillion performed all of the tracks from their widely acclaimed and most recent studio album "Sounds That Can't Be Made". Besides the eight album tracks, the band also played a selection of fan favourites ranging from "This Strange Engine" to "Garden Party".

And Rothery - every notes he plays
He tells each story not only in depth of lyrics, but nuances of voice and physical expressions - face, hands, arms, etc... all expressions of total passionate commitment to his art.
Marillion is the worst kept secret. So few even know what a true treasure they are. Thoughtful lyrics in their songs. Emotive vocals, beautiful soundscapes. I have turned on family and friends to this amazing band and the usual comment?? Who are these guys?!!! How come I've never heard of them??!! In my humble opinion....the best band ever created. Studio albums or live in concert. Just a real emotional ride in every song

Steve Hogarth at his animated best, what a singer, what a front man, legend, what a band, the best in the world
Steve Barney And, he didn’t have to paint his face, wear a headband around his mullet, sing out of tune, write shallow pretentious cringe worthy lyrics, that lack emotion and life experience beyond grade school, then leave the band 32 years ago because he thought he “was” the band(even though he can’t play an instrument), fish is best with chips, h is best with Marillion. :-)

h is a brilliant vocalist... He LIVES each song, along with singing it. You cannot ask for more from a performer. :)

You should never ask for *less* from a performer :) If you don't inhabit a song every time you sing it, you're just a singer, not a vocalist. (An observation made to me by Beth Gibbons in the 90s, and I've carried it around, like loose change jingle janglin' at the bottom of my bag, ever since :) )

Just awesome. Superbly sang and delivered. The keyboards are so beautifully played . Not to over powering but just perfect in the mix.
The bass is awesome the drummer is so precise. The guitar is just so haunting. Then Hogarth's voice is so haunting and full of emotion. Just awesome. They have grown so much.

h y marillion son super estrellas ! pero para sus fans ! ellos,marillion, no se manejan con criterios comerciales en su creacion musical ...creo que les seria muy facil hacer canciones "orejas" y "populares" de 3 minutos para que sean tocados en las radios,hacerse masivos y en consecuencia vender millones y millones de discos...pero hace mas de tres decadas( y creo que desde siempre) decidieron independizarse de esos criterios comerciales y hacer lo que les sale del alma ...eso para nosotros, los fans,es lo que los hace super estrellas gigantes ! soles en expansion ! como sus creaciones ,a las que uno puede volver una y otra vez y emocionarse con la interpretacion que de ellas hacen !
Great performance but for some I feel his voice is an acquired taste.

Marillion are so much more than the sum of the parts! All five put their hearts and souls into their art.
To consistently knock out interesting emotive lyrics over beautiful soundscapes after 40 + years is incredible. All are polished musicians, they make it look relaxed and easy too!

I've maintained this since the album was released. Concise, well crafted, lyrics off the charts, amazing bridge, incredible production. It has it all. They create space for Marks flourishes and arpeggios and where needed they create a wall of sound for the soaring vocals. 90% of the bands have zero idea or ability to reach these heights.
They just keep getting more and more incredible.

So much power and beauty in H's distinctive voice. The way this incredible band layers their soundscapes around his incredible vocals is truly majestic. You feel every note, every drum beat, every word.

Genius on stage
As much as I adored Fish in Marillion's early years, Steve Hogarth's arrival, helped take this band into a direction I prefer. Had Fish remained and they missed out on H, they might have folded by now. Instead, they just get better as they age.
