This week, I made my second cross section diorama of a hot spring in Yellowstone. The hot pool I recreated this time is Emerald Spring in the Norris Basin. The diorama is set in my Wild Imaginary West and houses a mysterious creature that travels from pool to pool searching for bones and waiting to drag unsuspecting prey into the hot water.

@gfries4906 they also don't *leave* the water, nor do they live in acidic and near boiling temperatures. Yes, whales and dolphins breathe air at the surface, but they're ocean borne and restricted creatures. This thing is actively choosing harsh environments to live in when it *could* choose to live elsewhere.

When you said no animal can survive in the hot springs, I immediately thought of flamingos. Can’t find anything on them interacting with Yellowstone specifically, but they can drink boiling water and chill in water so acidic and salty it would melt your skin. Terrifying!

All of there tails about first stumbling along Yellowstone and the natural wonders there are amazing. They couldn’t believe what they were seeing. And no one back east believed them, when they described the geysers.

There’s a book series that you should check out that has got some serious potential for some killer dioramas. It’s called the “Leviathan” series and it’s set in an alternate steampunk version of WW1, full of mech walkers and the usual steampunk stuff. What sets this apart is that some nations prefer to use genetically modified animals for their war machines called “beasties.” For example, the main characters all work on a British zeppelin that is literally a giant sperm whale. I loved those books growing up, so seeing your take on their world would be awesome! They also come with some really cool artwork too so you’d have plenty of reference material.

That said, the monster is the only sign that this diorama is part of your Wild Imaginary West, and not a depiction of an actual, historical scene. I rarely write to the creators of the channel because many times there are few who read the comments and respond, but I always leave you a Like. Thanks to you, I was inspired to start making dioramas because I saw one you did about three years ago, from STARWARS titled: ''Tank Ambush Aftermath Diorama''. And after seeing that work I started to create my own. Well, what I wanted to ask you is a favor, I have reviewed all your videos and I see that you have not made one of Halo when you can and if you want, make one of Master Chief vs The Covenant, I know that you will be excellent. In the 1800s, Arkansas experienced an earthquake in the River Valley that made the river flow backwards. I think you could incorporate that into the imaginary west by making a downhill, stair-stepping creek "flow backwards" by using diorama magic to make foam and waves flowing UP a rocky incline of a creek on a steep hill/mountain.
It sounds bizarre enough to belong in the imaginary west, and Arkansas IS southwest - the era had anything west of the Mississippi labeled as "the west" and the Ozarks were home to the famous Jesse James and Bass Reeves - the first black US marshall west of rhe Mississippi, and inspiration for the Lone Ranger and Tonto.
Incredible diorama as always, yay yellowstone inspiration!

Here's the thing: as a multi-console gamer, yes, there are diminishing returns to simply making consoles more powerful, and selling your games on their graphical capabilities and technical features.
However, more powerful consoles are enabling new experiences that simply aren't possible on previous generations or earlier hardware. Yes, development costs go up with more graphically complex games. It's still also possible to develop fun games of lower graphical complexity for regardless of hardware specs, as demonstrated by indie studios.
In all likelihood, the major selling point of the Switch successor over the original will be graphical performance, and this is fine.
You need both: focus on fun, and the wow factor of new experiences.

Lovely diorama! I think I subscribed to you back when the original Yellowstone diorama was one of your newer videos, so it's neat to see a callback to an "OG" Boylei video.
I do have a question though: Why do you always apply the wooden veneer to the diorama, and *THEN* paint it? It looks so tedious carefully painting around the edges with a tiny brush, and I'd be super paranoid about slipping and smushing black paint onto my carefully crafted diorama. Can you not cut and paint the veneer with a big brush, and THEN stick it on, then just do a bit of touchup if needed?

Really like your Dioramas. Have you considered doing something Fallout related?

“No animal could survive the near boiling and highly acidic waters…”
The extremophiles of deep sea vents have entered the chat.

Hey there Boylei, sorry to bother you. I am currently working on a Tabletop custom Setting/System based on your Imaginary Wild West, as well as the Deadlands System and wanted to get your blessing.

Also spraying fine IPA onto resin works to pop bubbles if you don't want to risk melting edge details 😉

I love the creativity and how amazing your builds are.
It would be great to see a behind the scenes video and do a bench walkthrough and show how you record your videos!!

I like how you made it light enough to be able to see the creature at the bottom. That is really great.
Love The Imaginary Wild West. 👍👍👍

Can you PLEASE do an erupting geyser. You could have the eruption created by a underground monster!

3:13 I found it quite funny that you mentioned we were thinking “no animal can survive in the hot spring pool” like you did because at that moment I was in fact thinking “man that monster has to be so tough and wicked to live in a place like that” pretty much just before you made a comment about it lol

I wonder when you'll do something with the grand canyon so much inspiration there, river monster giant bird giant goat/mountain lion.

You should make it look like a giant ant lion with claw hands, ant lions throw sand to nock their prey into their pits. This monster could spray the boiling acid water for a similar attack

But then, nothing could survive in the nearly-boiling and highly acidic waters of Yellowstone...

Do you think you could make a ww1 diorama? I have been making one for school and would love to see how you would’ve gone about it.
