It seems to have been a mistake he received the support of the Bini tribe that enabled his becoming governor. After his (Okpebholo) one term, I don’t at this time believe he will be reelected. Sadly, after his one term. that is if he is cleared at the tribunal; I see many sad years ahead for Edo Politics, the brotherly love mindset which prompted Godwin Obaseki’s fair rotation of the governorship amongst all three senatorial zones will be a thing of the past. It will be everyone for themselves. This is a possible sad outcome and unforeseen circumstance of the rigging of the 2024 Edo gubernatorial elections. If Inec, Tinubu, Oshiomole and Wike have a hand in the imposition of a man with limited capacity on the Edo people, they would have done untold harm to all 5 million plus Edo people. My hope is that the Edo Elections Tribunal are made up of people of integrity and courage that will find out the truth without fear or favor by producing a credible, believing and evidence based adjudication. If their results are credible and believed by our people ( I am an Edo man born in Benin city living in California), then we shall move on but I see damage done to the Edo body even in the best of circumstances. May God bless Edo State and Nigeria, they both need devine intervention. And our individual collective participation in a truth and openness based future.

The governorship position after the days of our first governor, Osaigovo Ogbemudia has been relatively more difficult for the Esan people of our state and easiest for my people, the Bini people for the sheer reason of population size. I am sure you don’t dispute this. While being a governor is not easy, it’s easier for some than others everywhere. So the rotation idea supported by Godwin Obaseki was in recognition of this fact.
