Unlike other art channels.. he is actually teaching something.. everyone else is just flexing what they can do..while here you are teaching us what we can do... Thank you sir..
Think something like the same, is really nice - think he also talks to the people he teaches, not that i think it is the intention, but other youtubers may have a tend to talk down to people and may forget to think about the viewers hope it makes sense - not from an English speaking country, in Denmark where I live, people sometimes talks about talking to or talking down to people, but i just have no idea if people do it in other countries 😂
Great tutorial! To recap in writing: 1. Decide what is in frame 2. Adjust overall outline shape and position 3. Use pencil to measure proportions, divide face with rough guidelines 4. Compare width and length of different facial features and draw their shape 5. Add shadows and refine
i love how your videos actually teach how to learn the thing, how to figure it out and develop skill on your own, instead of just telling you how to make a few unoriginal lines. tysm :)
That girl in the hat with the red shirt is such a stereotypical artist, every drawing school i've been to had that almost same looking kind of person haha
Darion Fore i used to think artist always wore overalls and a muffin hat. At first I thought you meant that she was being stereotypical or her kind are the stereotypical people.
Amazing! I tried doing the steps from a picture, and it worked perfectly. Made portrait drawing a hundred times easier. Thank you so much for this very helpful lesson!
Thank you, I entered artschool in a public university and was so heavily dissappointed I even thought of giving up on art, now I see that if I'd gotten at least a 20% of this level of teaching I would've been so happy. Thank you for your amazing teaching methodology, and I really hope people who are so mediocre like in my uni stopped getting teacher positions.
If l would have been asked from a genie about my wish, I would have wished to be one of your students. You’re an amazing talented artist and teacher. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Absolutely fantastic teaching, you can tell he was practically made for this. With going to college in a few years and the horror stories I’ve heard of art school, videos like these give me hope I could get some professors like this.
Thank you so much Mr. Yong Chen. Your portrait basics videos gave me a lot of confidence and did a self portrait on looking into a mirror. It came out satisfactory. You are a wonderful teacher.
U made it very easy. 😘 My grandfather used to told me about these things but never really explained in detail but u did that I loved it.❣️ Looking forward to learn more
Good video! I have a question: I know the basic proportions but then I tend to draw very similar prototypical heads and faces. How can I attribute particular traits to make my drawings look like they're one specific person without breaking the proportions?
My talent is that I can draw a precise copy of a drawing, but only if I take time and effort into it. If I don't, It turns to my own creation. Might be because I'm a fast learner people say. Edit: Also Viktoria you should definitely try it out, i would love to see it.
I think its ok if the ears is up a little bit because the object was look a little bit down... therefore upper ear must be on top of the eyebrow line...

Art needs maths

Composition > Proportion > Value > Finishing.

at long last among so many 'lets copy photos' and call it 'drawing portraits' videos, there is an actual portrait drawing one. Thank you for sharing.
i love how your videos actually teach how to learn the thing, how to figure it out and develop skill on your own, instead of just telling you how to make a few unoriginal lines. tysm :)
Ohh! I wanna be in your class! You make it seem so easy. Thank you. ☺

Motgarbob what do you mean by stereotypical artist? I’m confused? Lol

THE ONE AND ONLY ,THE BEST TUTORIAL PORTRAIT VIDEO EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
who are the150 crazies who gave this man a thumbs down? It is truly a privilege to learn from him.
You make it look so easy...as usual amazing tutorial
guy sits uncomfortably in 10 minutes
On the upside he didnt live in the old ages where they stay put for 4 - 5 hours to get a portrait
@@bif509 And when they had to sit completely stone still for 30 or more minutes because that's how long it used to take a camera to capture a photo.

Sir , i think the position of the ears you drew earlier was more correct than the final, because the face is little bit tilted down .
