- Nightlife interviews in Seoul, South Korea! Asking Koreans and foreigners about the Korean nightlife. Hongdae or Itaewon? What are your favorite clubs in Seoul? How would you describe the nightlife scene in South Korea to someone who has never been here before?
Hongdae and Itaewon are two neighborhoods both very famous for their nightlife scenes. There's plenty of bars, clubs and restaurants in both areas which makes them a great place to go for a night out. Whilst Itaewon has more of an international vibe, Hongdae is more popular amongst the locals so I was curious to find out what both locals and foreigners think is the best place to go for a night out in the Korean capital.

Hongdae is a popular club spot in Seoul, especially for Western foreigners. Itaewon has become a place with more Koreans since the U.S. military moved to Pyeongtaek (two hours from Seoul) a few years ago. That's why I sometimes see foreigners who feel nostalgic go to Pyeongtaek to play. Pyeongtaek doesn't have a lot of things to do, it's just a rural area with a lot of Westerners. Itaewon has been famous for foreigners for a long time among Koreans, so people who don't know much about it say that foreigners are the most common, but in fact, Koreans who prefer Seoul and hang out with foreigners say that Hongdae has more foreigners. Hongdae is a huge place. In Hongdae, the clubs and places preferred by foreigners and Koreans are a little different.

Hongdae is better for 20-29 year olds, Itaewon is more for 30+
