i know this is an old video but wow....when i first got my ESX i was so overwhelmed by it i simply played the preloaded patterns and never really understood what any of the buttons or dials did. 7 minutes in and i now know more about this thing than i did while owning it the last several years.
Thank you so much for this series. My ESX is on it's way from Japan and there really is so little good content about these machines. It's a shame really because they seem so capable even compared to a lot of current models in their price range. Something tells me they're not going to stay as cheap as they are now for long so after a year of dreaming about it I finally bit the bullet and bought one. Anyway I'm rambling but something tells me your videos are going to be a go-to reference for me once I get my hands on this thing, so I appreciate the effort.
These old ESX 1´s are rare as "Gold" where i live, you see maybe 1-3 online if it´s a good day :P.. compared to that ... the Japanese marked is full of them .like no one use them over there ..... 🤯
@@DjRoB1990 I sold mine a few months ago, and I regretted it immediately. Will be buying one again as soon as I possibly can lol. If you do manage to find one for a decent price, I highly recommend it. It's ruined every other groovebox for me.
What a brilliant tutorial. Set at a good pace, explained well.... neh very well. Structured and clearly put across. Now I want to by an ESX-1. I do wish you had a video tutorial of the Yamaha RM1X though. Great, great ! work Axrn! thanks.
Hi Aaron. Hope you’re well??? Found you by accident when searching for this sampler. Great tutorial -wouldn’t expect any less!! I can’t resist asking you, is that my Tascam Portastudio in the top left? I’ve been trying to track it down since someone borrowed it on the BSc years ago?? 🤣
@@swillm3ister - I've had mine about 10 years and do use it with my DT from time to time. It's a very different work flow to the DT so takes a bit of time to get back in to but it's got a great meaty sound. I tend to use it for the percussion and the DT for synth parts. Have fun. 😊
Do the emx have less stock sounds than the esx given that its primarily a sampler. I plan to be pairing it with my mpc and want to just use the korg for its drum sounds, I am thinking the emx may be a better option.
Great tutorial bud. Just took this it out from the attic. Been there 5-6 years. Watched tutorials 1-5. Would be fab if there was one for dropping live vx in for sampling. 👍
hi can you let me know what it takes to trigger the korg via usb to midi. i bought a usb t midi interface but the korg speeds up and slows down. its never in tempo with logic. its weird
I'm a Chinese korg electribeSX player, just start to learn this machine,Can anybody tell me how to connect this machine with my Ableton live,I plugged a MIDI line to my YAMAHA Steinberg UR22c correctly, but I don't know how to do next,in my country only a few people can play this,so can anybody tell me how to do?Thanks a million!
Hi I own a Roland mc505 &I'm looking for a new box im looking at the emx1 & the esx 1 for kinda oldskool Italian piano can anybody offer some advice by the way sound a bit like a Carlisle or Geordie accent god to see another northern lad into his groovebox
great videos!! i have one problem with my electribe sx. im having like a noise all the time on the background...and when i record on ableton this noise its getting very loud. do you know what can be the problem? thank you!!
Yeah the machine can be quite noisy but here's a few tips. Try having the master volume around half way (12 o clock) and have the individual 'part' levels high. The noise mainly seems to come from boosting the master volume pot. Obviously the Tube Gain pot will add noise too, so you could reduce this as well if the noise is really bugging you.
Me made a (let's say)"Trap style" instrumental on it (IT IS MOSTLY a question of looooong 808's and triplets, like in Charleston music :) ) This machine soon becoming classic- or later
Ahhh kk. On the ESX - Go to the 'Global' settings and use the arrow keys to select 'Clock'. Use the jogwheel to set it to 'Ext'. That should be all you need to do! Make sure you have physical MIDI connection - 'Out' from the Maschine and 'In' to the ESX.

Have you made anything? I'd definitely love to hear. I'm getting mine soon from eBay and will hook up with my digitakt as well.

Hello friend, the swing is applied in all parts or just the one you choose?
and how do i quikly delete the drum parts wich where selected with something
Do the emx have less stock sounds than the esx given that its primarily a sampler. I plan to be pairing it with my mpc and want to just use the korg for its drum sounds, I am thinking the emx may be a better option.
Please, I did a factory reset and all sounds disapered in my ESX-1. Is there possibility to recovery the sounds? Thank you if you can help me.

Just got mine out, having tried it to little usable effect 5 years ago…
Thanks for the detailed explanation really appreciate it! :)

Korg M1 "piano" preset was this one------ you should find samples or chords of this shiny m1 piano on any sample CD.

How to select part without making IT Play?
hold shift while selecting the part!
Could you please do a video on how to midi the esx 1 to another sequencer?
Hi, yeah I can do that! Not sure if this video is useful to you in the meantime? -

cool got it will test tomorrow. Replacing the tubes make a difference in sound?
Not 100% sure about that, but I imagine it would impact the sound in some way if the tubes are fresh.
Thank you!
Can it be synced to DAW somehow?
thru midi
