- Surabhi Gautam who is among the top rankers in UPSC Civil Services Exam 2016 was working with prestigious Bhabha Atomic Research Centre or BARC as a scientific officer in 2013. In this lecture she is giving an idea about the career options in BARC for Engineering and science graduate.
BARC selection process is solely based on BARC interview, unlike other PSU selection process. Gate or written exam is only for screening for interview which means it doesn’t add to final selection criteria. This makes selection process very arbitrary and unpredictable.
Quality of question asked in interview is good. It focuses on core understanding. But that doesn’t make it toughest interview because level of competition also matters. Results are arbitrary, so deserving candidates sometimes get rejected which has given it the fame of being a tough interview. Prepare for it but go without expectation.

I am a bit confused. Was this 1 hour long interview after the entrance test or after the 1 year training period? If there's an interview at the end of the training period, what is the nature of that?
Interview is after you get selected via written test or gate examination.
Interview lasts for 40min-1.25 hrs

Bhaswat Mandal it's not the point of an individual. It's the system of education. If Hindi is well teached and encouraged in our localities we will definitely learn. We are not having any grudge on Hindi bro. Come on we live in one country. But still what's the disadvantage if the video is in English.

After the training program.
She said it's Government's class 1 officer grade 10. Just google it. Last time I checked the basic for that was around 57K so maybe payment can be close to 1 Lakh per month.

How can EMT be someone's favorite subject? You have to be Surabhi Gautam for that.
Utkarsh I went to Gate coaching and they taught EMT so nicely that it is my second most favorite subject after Control systems. Both subjects are considered complicated but they really aren't. They seem so difficult only because we aren't taught well in Engineering college. Our concepts aren't clarified, we don't understand the subject and only look at the complicated equations with weird symbols. You will be surprised if I tell you that the entire EMT including optical fibres(since light is also EM wave) is based on and can be summarized in one single equation.
