Here in Azerbaijan, the northern part are sunni muslims as islam had reached there during the rein of Omar radiyallahu anhu, while the population in the southern part which is bordered with Iran is shias. What amazes me is that in those areas there are villages in the mountains that are still sunnis. The safawis didn't reach there to force them into shiism or probably they didn't know there were villages there at all. They follow the madhab of Ash Shafi'i rahimahullah

Im pashtun and i can say this is accurate. But Its worth mentioning that Rafida are still a minority in Afghanistan. Many persians and most hazara in Afghanistan are Twelver Shia’s but many of them simply do not know what that means. They are quite similar to Zaydis without realizing. Majority Afghan shias pray like Hanifi Sunnis and most of their beliefs are sunni beliefs. It is more of their lack of knowledge about Shi’sm and the influence of the sunnis. Most of them innocently call themselves shia without knowing what it entails. But ofc there are those who are extreme like in this video. May Allah guide everyone. Ameen
